Chapter 2

There was a faint knock on door to Jack and Jill's new room. Jack stirred from his rest and stood up to answer it. Standing in front of him was Edward and he had some clothes in his hands.

"It's not much, but I found some old clothes at the thrift shop down the street. I know you and Jill don't have much money right now, so I thought I'd grab you two a couple things before your first shift." Edward handed the clothes to Jack.

"You didn't have to do that," Jack responded, accepting the clothing from Edward.

"It's your first night. Best to look good. Better you look, the more tips you two will receive. Go ahead, get yourselves ready, shift starts in an hour." Edward replied before he turned and walked away.

Jack nodded and shut the door after Edward left. He looked over at Jill who had just woke. He tossed the clothing onto the bed near her feet.

"Well, I suppose it's time to get ready. Edward brought us some clothes. Said for us to look our best."

Jack pulled his worn t-shirt over his head and tossed it onto the chair. Jill looked at him. His brown hair a mess, the stubble on his chin, the definition in his chest and abs. She'd always found Jack handsome. But they were best friends. As much as she'd love for it to be more than that, there is no way she could let Jack know her true feelings for him. What if he didn't feel the same way she did? Wouldn't that ruin the friendship they've been over all these years?

Jack leaned over and grabbed one of the shirts that Edward had brought him. It was a button up shirt, a tad tight but it looked good on him as he looked at himself in the mirror. His chest and arms filled the shirt nicely. He buttoned the shirt and fixed his hair, pushing it to the side and allowing it to lay where it fell.

Jill stood up and took a look at the clothes that Edward had brought for her. She found a tight t-shirt and held it up before her. She wasn't used to wearing such things. At the orphanage, it was the same uniform each and every day. Now she could wear whatever she wanted. She looked over at Jack, who was looking back at her.

"Turn around. No looking Jack!" Jill said to Jack, her cheeks reddening.

Jack smiled at her and turned around. However, when Jack turned around, now he had a clear view of Jill in the small mirror above the sink. Jill pulled her shirt over her head and let it drop to the floor. Though it was wrong, Jack couldn't help but to look at her. His eyes focused on her, stopping at the cleavage spilling from the bra she wore. Jill pulled the new shirt on.

"Ok, you can turn around now."

Jack turned around and looked at her. She grabbed a rubber band from her wrist and put her hair up in a messy bun. She looked absolutely beautiful. Jack looked at her. Her hair messy, yet somehow still stylish, the tight shirt that definitely accented her figure. Jill caught Jack looking at her and blushed.

"What are you looking at?" She questioned.

"Oh nothing," He stammered. "Are you ready?"

She studied Jack for a moment then agreed. They left the small room, shutting the door behind them and began heading towards the front of the Pour House for their first day of work.
