Three years ago....."Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome with me to the stage the new CEO of Viva group of companies, Simon Walker!" the master of ceremony announced and the crowd busted into an applauding as the brightly smiling Simon stood up from his seat in the front row where he sat with his most immediate family, his grandparent. His black tuxedo complemented the pure black shiny shoes that he wore, his midnight black hair was slicked back and his dimples caused the hearts of the single ladies at the party to swoon. He walked up the small flight of stairs to the stage and shook hands with the announcer before turning to the crowd to give his first speech as the CEO, the light from the chandeliers that stood above him sparkled down making his tall and muscular build appear more enticing to the ladies, they all admired his looks not hearing a single word of the speech he gave."..... I hope together we can move the Viva group of companies to a successful future." He finished an
Present day.The loud crash of a fallen mug echoed through the Walkers' mansion early that morning, all the workers looked up for a second from their chores before they continued with their duty. They all knew in their hearts that soon the new caregiver would come downstairs with eyes brimming with tears and her bag on her shoulder, leaving the house never to come back."She lasted the longest. You know." One of the maids whispered to her colleague as she dusted the large shelf of the Walkers’ family library."That's because she has more endurance. Have you seen her when she takes his food upstairs? She's always shaking. I even heard the cook said she bawls in her free period, regretting ever choosing to be a caregiver in life." The colleague whispered back."Really? It must be hard on her. Sir Simon is just too heartless. Seeing the way he treats those poor women, I would never allow anyone in my family to ever work as a caregiver, being a maid is way better." The first maid said pa
Ben Walker stared at his grandson who lay on his bed with his eyes closed. He knew very well more than anyone that the young man was not sleeping. He was ignoring him like he always did, like he has been doing for the past three years. The only thing he did not understand as a father was why his grandson thought he was the only person suffering. He, Ben was the one who was suffering the most. He knows that his grandson, Simon has gone through a lot but he was the one who was here trying to get a young man that has given up on life to start living again. It had been him and Sarah, his wife, who had stood eight hours in that hospital praying for the success of his surgery three years ago. It was also him who had lost his son and his daughter-in-law twenty-one years ago. Why didn’t Simon pity him? Why didn't Simon show any pity for him?Was he being punished for a sin he didn't know he committed? He looked at the youth again, now with anger."How long are you going to keep on doing this?
An excited Alvira walked into the estate bright and early the next day. She was more than happy about the job. If she gave her best to the job and worked honestly, she could ask for an advance payment to restart her father's chemotherapy. She just hope the rich people's heart was as generous as the amount of money they would be paying. She knocked on the giant door that led to the main building after walking into the property for fifteen minutes undisturbed. The security men stationed at the gate had looked at her with pity and had let her in immediately, the moment she said she was the new caregiver but Alvira hadn't given it a thought, she was too excited about the new job to worry about their body language. If the worse got to worse she could just assume they were jealous of her as her pay was high and God knows they don't pay caregivers that amount anywhere. The door opened and a maid with a cleaning cloth in hand looked her up and down with a questioning look. Alvira beamed
"Sir Simon is Mr. Ben's grandson not his son." The maid who was leading Alvira to Simon's room said. The maid was relentless and was tiring Alvira out, from the moment the walk began, the maid has been giving her numerous rules of the so-called Sir Simon that she was not to violate.Don't admire the room when you go in.Don't add any form of sugar or cream to his coffee, he likes it black.Do not make a joke.Do not bother acting nice, he doesn’t like people who are too nice.Don't offer to do anything for him unless he asks for it. Blar…blar…blar..Alvira did not understand why the maid felt the need to tell her all this. She was an adventurous person by nature and would love to make her own mistakes and learn from them but this maid was bent on teaching her. If she is so knowledgeable about Mr Simon, why didn't she become his caregiver instead? Alvira thought as she came to the conclusion that the maid was jealous of her. A lot of workers here are filled with jealousy, she deduced.
Alvira sat on the small couch in the corridor behind the mansion replaying all that had happened earlier in her head. No matter how many times she replayed it. she just couldn't understand where she went wrong. It wasn't like they've met before. I mean if she had met him before, there was no way she could forget. He had such a strikingly handsome appearance. Then what was it?Alvira asked herself lost in her own thoughts, she had been brought down here after the encounter with Simon and practically all the maids in the mansion had gathered around her. The maids who now surrounded her gossiped about Simon, everyone telling their own version of how ruthless Simon had been to the previous care givers.Alvira looked at them and then finally understood why they were all acting weird that morning, they saw her as the next victim of Simon Walker and they all shared in the pity. The maid who had not only led her into the house but had also taken her to Simon’s room looked at her with distre
Butler Jared gave Alvira's innocent smile a weird gaze. The words she spoke was not only strange, they were also practically impossible and made absolutely no sense. Sir Simon would never ask anyone to cut off his phone connection from the main house.Seeing he didn't believe her Alvira sighed putting on her acting skills. It was a in this moments that the role playing she and her father always did would benefit herEven though she wasn't planning to be an actress but a marketer in the future, she could still act pretty well. "Do you want to go and ask him yourself? You can go. Just don’t call him. He is pretty annoyed about something that has to do with the phone. I don't know what it is." Alvira said skillfully with a depressed look.Jared, looked at Alvira again. He had already heard of Sir Simon’s anger this morning and was impressed that the girl could even go back there and convince Sir Simon to give her another chance to try.In the past, when Sir Simon told them to teach someo
Ben and Sarah laughed loudly until tears ran down their eyes as they listened to Jared tell them the events of the day, especially what had transpired between Simon and Alvira.Even though it was shocking to hear someone act like that, it was also a great relief, at least now they have someone who could match up with the stubborn Simon, and if all things were equal, she might be able to force him out of the prison that he had turned that room into. "If we had gotten her employed here earlier, I wonder how much progress we would have made with Simon," Ben said as he wiped his tears. "That is very true sir, not only did she force Sir Simon to let others help him, she also made sure he ate the breakfast prepared by the cook," Jared explained. "Really? He ate the food Edda made?" Sarah asked with surprise. "Yes madam, he did," Jared said. "Hmmm nice," Sarah said with a nod, "when did she get off work?" she asked again. "6 pm, she left when Sir Simon had his dinner and had no other n
