Chapter 13 To Prevent From Ruining the Plan

Yvan stared at Yuna silently, but Yuna was unphased by his piercing gaze. "Wasn’t it you who suspected me of tampering with the wine back then?" she asked him instead.

"Can you swear that you had no ulterior motives that day?" he asked coldly.

His words felt like a knife in her chest.

Of course she had ulterior motives. She had thought that if they consummated their marriage, then maybe he would change his mind about her.

But things didn't work out like that. Once he had set his mind to something, he wouldn’t change.

She arched an eyebrow and repressed those thoughts. "Mr. Jenkins, Even if you wanted to use emotions to convince me to work with you, you still shouldn’t use things that have never happened as leverage. It’s very insincere," she said, smiling.

Yvan's expression darkened at her reaction. "You should make good on your promise now."

"Are you apologizing to me?"

"Take what you can get, Yuna."

Yuna didn't back down. "But sincerity is the core of doing business."

Yvan viciously grabbed her arm and forced her to the corner of the room, "You…"

Right at that moment, his cell phone rang.

It was Daisy calling.

Yvan gave Yuna one last disdainful look and immediately picked up the phone. "What’s wrong?" His tone had softened immeasurably.

Daisy was crying on the other end of the phone. "Yvan, I had a nightmare; please come over."

"Alright, I’m coming now."

Yvan ignored Yuna and ran out of the room while talking on the phone.

Yuna grabbed the door handle the minute the doors shut. She knew exactly what Daisy was to Yvan. This type of situation was not unfamiliar to her.

She reminded herself that she could not mess up her plan. So, she regulated her emotions and left the room.

She looked at the messages on her phone and saw that there were a few urgent ones that needed her immediate attention.

But at that moment, her shoulder was suddenly hit by a force that caused her to stumble and crash into a wall.

"Are you fucking blind?"

Yuna’s eyebrows furrowed as she watched the two drunk men leaning on each other for support. One of the drunkards pointed at her and started yelling at her.

She did not want any trouble, so she decided to just walk around them.

But the drunkards would not let her leave and blocked her path.

"Who said you can leave? Don’t you know how to apologize?" he said as he grabbed her arm.

Yuna flung his hand aside and said, "I’ll call the police if you touch me again."

"What a cocky bitch. I’ll show you what it means to offend me!" The drunkard angrily made a move to grab at Yuna’s hair. However, before he could reach her, his arm was suddenly stopped by another man.

The drunkard was pushed by the other man and immediately fell painfully onto the ground, making Yuna jump.

There was a familiar-looking, handsome man in a black suit standing next to her.

"Who the fuck are you?" The drunkard stood up to hit the man but stopped in his tracks once he laid eyes on him.

The man was expressionless as he answered the drunkard, "Ashton Yale."

"M—Mr. Yale! I—I didn’t know that she was with you. If I had known, I would’ve never touched her." The drunkard was quick to beg for mercy.

Ashton arched an eyebrow. "So you can bully people who aren’t with me?"

"No."

"Get lost!" Ashton yelled.

The drunkard immediately scrambled to get away.

Ashton reined in his anger after he saw the drunkard leave, and when he turned to face Yuna, his face was friendly. "Ms. Surra, why don’t I send you home?"
