Chapter 12 Defending the Culprit

"Yes!" Spencer punched the air in excitement.

Nathaniel raised his head to look at Spencer and pushed his sunglasses further up his face. "Uncle Spencer, I hope you can also continue doing a good job keeping the secret."

Spencer quirked his eyebrows. "Don’t worry about it; let’s go! We can get off the plane now. Hold my hand, children, and don’t run off."

The children exchanged a look once Spencer wasn’t looking, as if they were conspiring.

That night, Yuna received a call from Yvan, asking to meet up.

Yuna was aware of how efficient Yvan could be when he was working. Besides, that situation seven years ago happened in his house, and she knew how important this project was to him.

She was deliberately utilizing his interest in the project to indirectly make him investigate matters for her.

Even if decades had passed, she would not give up until she proved that she was innocent if she was wrongly blamed for something she didn’t do.

Once she arrived at Twilight, she was personally escorted to the room by Michael. Yvan was seated on the couch. There was also another person in the room. It was Leona, the nanny who worked for Yvan.

This wasn’t who she wanted to see.

Leona wailed as she walked toward her, grabbing Yuna’s forearms when she got there. "Ms. Feron, everything that happened that day was my doing. I saw that Mr. Jenkins did not love you at all, so I thought that maybe my daughter would stand a chance with him. But, I never would have expected that you would accidentally drink that bottle of wine!" Leona cried.

Yuna stared coldly at her. "Leona, your daughter was still very young at that time. Even if you were desperate for your daughter to take my place, have you not considered that you and your husband would be sent to prison if this were to be revealed to the public?"

Yvan, who was smoking a cigarette on the couch, furrowed his eyebrows, and his expression darkened.

"I—I didn’t think about that," Leona stammered. "Anyway, I was the one who planned everything. Ms. Feron, you can punish me however you wish."

However, Yuna knew that, though Leona played a part in the scheme, she was definitely not the main instigator.

She observed Yvan, who had been sitting silently, out of the corner of her eyes and understood. He was trying to protect the main culprit.

"Mr. Jenkins, is Leona still under your employment?" She asked suddenly.

"She has been fired," he answered.

"That’s good. Then I don't have to worry about what I am about to do next," she said as she pulled out her cell phone. "Mr. Jenkins, since you have identified her as the culprit, then you must have evidence as well. Please do me a favor and pass the police the evidence later."

Leona was stupefied. "Ms. Feron, how could you report me to the police? Yes, I did tamper with the wine, but the two of you were still married when the whole situation happened, and isn’t this sort of thing normal between a married couple?"

Yuna stared straight into Leona’s eyes. "Even if we were married, as long as I feel that I was forced, I will consider it rape." Yvan’s expression darkened after hearing this.

"Please, I’m begging you, Ms. Feron. I can't go to jail! I’m already so old; please forgive me!"

"Michael, escort Leona out." Yvan felt the onslaught of a migraine at Leona’s wailing.

Besides, he needed to talk to Yuna alone.

Michael silently dragged Leona out of the room, and once the room doors were closed, Yvan walked over to Yuna and said, "Forced?"

"Was it not forced?"

Yvan huffed but did not speak. Yuna fixed her eyes on Yvan. "Mr. Jenkins, I think you owe me an apology."
