Josephine's POV

"Turn around and place your heads behind your head." His voice was hoarse, a sinister undertone lingering in each word.

My heart pounds like a runaway drum, its thunderous rhythm echoing in my ears.

Beads of sweat form a glistening constellation on my forehead, pooling at temples before succumbing to gravity.

Each droplet descended with agonizing slowness, their soft echoing splashes on the floor a cruel reminder of the danger before me.

I was facing the window, my heart was thumping really fast.

I thought of pulling out the knife strapped to my thigh, but that would be almost impossible to do without being shot.

"Am talking to you…turn around now!!!"

His loud voice causes me to shudder.

And before I could turn, I heard a voice, the voice of a young girl, fragile and trembling yet laced with authority.

Her voice pierced through the tense air like a fragile crystal chime in a storm, making my heart skip a beat.
