New chapter guys :) Sorry it's late. I spent the week editing and updating my other chapters which are live now :)
Adalyn My world stood still when Malik uttered those words. He had killed my father. I just stared at him not knowing what to say or do. I felt a tear slip down my cheek. “Little dreamer, I’m so sorry.” His eyes were pleading with me, I could tell he was in pain. “Tell me what happened. Why did you kill my father?” He took a breath, “At one point in my life Beherit was like a father to me. I worked for him as an enforcer and did everything he asked of me, no questions asked. He told me that he had an enemy that was meddling in his and Apollyon’s business. He gave me an address and a team. We went to the house but only I entered. I had no idea who was in the house or why Beherit had sent me here. Your father attacked me obviously and we fought. When I killed him, I heard your mother scream in agony upstairs. Only then did I realize what I had done. I went upstairs and found your mother clutching you to her chest. She was begging me to spare you.” The tears were coming faster hearing t
Adalyn We packed up all our things, said our goodbyes to all our new friends and headed for our cars. Ard’al warned us that Oliver had contacted him and that they had tracked Tobias and Octavia to Seattle. “What do you want to bet that they are running to Typhon”, Ezra said. “He will die for what he did to Delilah”, Malik growled. “Ok big boy, calm down. I want to kill him just as bad as you do”, Delilah cooed at him. We loaded up and started the four-hour drive back to Seattle. The ride home was very different, everyone was quiet. Malik and Delilah were cuddled up in the back, Liam was staring out the window, and Rainn was staring forward with his hand on my leg. His thumb was rubbing circles on my thigh and I was starting to fall asleep. “Go ahead my love, I’ll wake you up when we get there.” I curled up in my seat with his hand settled between my thighs and let the darkness take me. “Adalyn we are home”, Rainn said waking me out of my dreamless sleep. He kissed me on the forehead
Rainn I sat at my desk with my head in my hands. My office was trashed, my desk now broken in half. It’s been two weeks since Adalyn and Elodie went missing. That night I woke up out of a deep sleep with a feeling of dread in my stomach. I reached over but Addie was not in bed, her side was cold. I looked at the clock and it said 3:30 a.m. I got out of bed, threw a t-shirt and shorts on, and headed to look for her. She wasn’t in the bathroom, so I went downstairs next. The lights were on downstairs, the tea kettle was on the stove, and her tea was out but she was nowhere to be seen. I heard footsteps on the stairs and turned around to see Mercer. “Have you seen Elodie? I woke up and she’s not in bed.” Now I was starting to panic, both girls were now missing. “Addie wasn’t in bed either but when I came down the stuff for tea was out.” I felt a cool breeze just then and turned toward the patio door. It was open just a crack, which was odd. I pointed to the door and we h
AdalynDarkness surrounded me, I could hear some faint noises, but my eyes refused to open. I tried to move any part of my body, but it was useless. I felt another prick in my neck and slowly feeling started to return. I’m not sure how long it took but I was eventually able to open my eyes. The light in the room was blinding. It took a few minutes for my eyes to adjust. “Welcome back to the land of the living.” I tried to move my arms, and when I looked, I realized I was in chains. I pulled on them but there was no slack. It looked like I was in a cell and it had to be underground. There were no windows anywhere. They had spotlights set up with the cords running under the bars at the door. “Don’t even try, believe me you won’t get out of them.” I turned toward the voice, “Want to bet?” “Oh, you are feisty. I like that but no you won’t. They are special just for you.” “Where’s Elodie?” He laughed, “Oh she’s around.” “Who are you.” The man stepped out of the shadows. He looked like he
A ten-year-old Rainn Stonebrook looked over the landscape that he called home. It's 1845 in the countryside of Ireland. The view is breathtaking, the sky is bright blue and the grass in the meadow is a deep green. There are patches of purples, yellows, whites, and red wildflowers. As he stares at the beauty, he gets lost in a trance, letting everything else fall away. He's rudely awakened from that moment by his little brother Liam, who had just turned eight. He was rolling down the hill unable to stop himself before barreling into Rainn. He was just about to start scolding him when he heard his mother calling for them to come back to the house because it would be dark soon. As they ran up over the hill towards their family's sheep farm, Rainn saw his mother just outside the house. Her red hair shining brightly with the falling sun at her back and her light green eyes sparkling when she saw her sons returning. Rainn would forever hold that image of his mother in his
Eleven Years Later Rainn Rainn woke up in a cold sweat from the nightmare again, just like every night for the last eleven years. He could still hear his mother's voice and see the look on her face after her death. There are still days when he can't seem to scrub his hands enough to feel clean. He hoped that he would make his parents proud. He'd trained harder than anyone in the fortress and protected Liam as much as he could. He got out of bed and headed to get washed up and to get some food in him before training started for the day. There were already men on the fields when he got down there. You could hear the swords clashing and arrows whizzing through the air. He knew that today's training was going to be brutal because the elders on the council were here to choose the next round of hunters and everyone wanted those spots. Every ten years the council elders hold the trials and only the best of the best are chosen. This was what Rainn had been working so hard
Present Day- Seattle, Washington Adalyn The sound of thunder was deafening as I looked around trying to figure out where I was. The lightning was cracking across the sky, and I couldn’t make out much of my surroundings. Any normal human being would be terrified standing alone in a dark unknown forest in the middle of a thunderstorm, but I felt a sense of calm for some reason like I was supposed to be here. I continued to scan around me to find anything familiar but then I caught movement from my right, someone was walking towards me. My first reaction was to run but I realized that I was not afraid. I could see the shape of a man taking form. I could tell that he was tall, well over six feet and as he got closer, I could see his broad shoulders, muscular arms, and a very toned chest. He had tattoos down his arms and across his chest depicting many battles against evil creatures. His skin was a light tan, his hair was red, and his eyes were the most beautiful green I had
Rainn Rainn pulled up to the mansion outside of town that he and his brother Liam bought ten years ago. He's exhausted after a night of hunting a group of rogue demons through the city. He was so close to finding them and then the trail went cold. He needed to talk to Liam and see if they had any updates from the team on demon movements in and out of the city. He decided to head for home for a few hours of sleep before he would be back at it again. He got out of his car and decided to go check the gardens that he had put in this year. He told the gardener he wanted plenty of color and he wasn’t disappointed as he turned the corner and saw all the blues, pinks, purples, reds, and yellows. Rainn wasn’t particular about the kind of flowers that they planted but did ask that some were from his homeland. The garden was something that he and Liam decided to have put in when they first moved in. There was partially one already there, but it was small and overgrown. They w
