The kidnapping

CHAPTER 2

I watched the waiter come out of the restaurant with a bag of trash in his hand. I stood up from the floor quickly so that I could focus all my attention on him. I had to be very vigilant in case there was any homeless person around. If I wasn’t fast enough, I would go to bed hungry again tonight.

The waiter opened the bin and dropped the bag of trash in the bin, he closed the bin quickly and wrinkled in disgust at the foul smell coming from the bin.

To him it was garbage, but to me, it was a meal.

I waited for him to walk back into the restaurant and close the door behind him. then I ran as fast as my skinny legs could carry me and pounced on the bin in a few seconds. I yanked open the bin and was excited to find the trash bag sitting there.

I looked left and right to make sure I was truly alone. Because lately I had a feeling like I was constantly being watched. Sometimes I would suddenly feel someone behind me, watching me, but whenever I turned around, No one was ever there.

I started to think that maybe it was the horrors of that night that still haunted me. The men with gold eyes and the man with the gold necklace.

I still had nightmares about it.

I quickly pulled the trash bag open and rummaged through the plastics, dust, paper, sand and chewed gum until I found a half eaten piece of sandwich still warmly wrapped.

I couldn’t believe someone could just throw away this delicious food.

I had never ever thrown food away in my life, even when it was expired or rotten. I made sure to always finish it no matter how badly it tasted or how painfully my stomach ached after I ate it. At least it was food.. it was either I ate it or I starved.

“Eww,..Disgusting.” I paused to see a teenage blond girl in a pink jacket. She was eyeing me with raw disgust.

“People like you should just do the world a favour and just disappear.” she sneered before walking away.

Tears of shame and embarrassment welled up in my eyes. There were a lot of mean bullies that enjoyed saying hurtful things.

This was why I tried to scavenge for food at night. Regular people always threw insults at me when they saw me digging the trash for food. I just tried to ignore her hurtful comment, I needed to focus on finding food.

Suddenly I felt that weird feeling again, someone was watching me. I looked up but no one was there.

Yet I could still sense eyes on me. I decided to ignore it, I was too hungry to care. I returned to my garbage picking when suddenly….

“Excuse me girl.”

I jumped at the sudden sound of a female voice so close to me.

I looked up to see a tall slim woman in an expensive looking fur coat looking at me with a small friendly smile.

She looked very familiar to me, but I couldn’t remember where we met.

Her long black hair was slicked back and tied into a low pony tail. Her red lipstick looked very bright and perfect. This woman was clearly very rich. What did she want from me?

She took a step toward me and I took a quick step back.

“Oh..no..no don’t run away, I’m not here to hurt you, actually , I’m here to help you.” she said soothingly. She put her hands up to show that she was harmless.

“I came to give you this..” She picked up a brown leather bag that I didn’t notice was sitting on the ground beside her.

“Here” she said holding the bag towards me.

“Take it, its yours, its just food and some warm clothes."

Again, she reminded me of someone, but I couldn’t remember who.

I eyed her warily. In all my 18 years of life I had never seen someone give a homeless person anything in an expensive leather bag. Was this a trick? A prank?

I looked around and saw no cameras and no other person on the street beside us.

She saw my hesitation so she dropped the bag on the floor.

“You're scared, I understand, I’ll just leave it on the ground, and go, you can take it when I go. Okay?” I slowly nodded to her.

She left the bag and walked back down the street. I watched her round the corner and go out of sight before I took the bag and ran quickly back to my home.

I vaguely remember it now! Something about her reminded me of some one I knew a very long time ago.

Sarah.

I couldn’t remember Sarah's face anymore, but I could remember that she saved me, promised to return, but never came back for me. It doesn’t matter though, I’m used to disappointments.

My home was a box shelter made with abandoned cardboard. I quickly entered it and opened the bag the pretty woman gave me.

I was immediately hit by the mouth watering smell of delicious food. Truly the bag contained wraps of warm sandwiches, a bag of water and 2 warm jackets.

I quickly wore one of the jackets. Winter had already come and without these warm clothes and food, I doubt i would have survived the week. Sometimes I would eat pieces of cardboard to stop the hunger.

I quickly ate 2 wraps of sandwiches then I decided to save the rest for tomorrow. I made sure to hide the food in my clothes, and hide the bag under some dirty rags.

Experience had taught me to hide anything valuable. I had been on the streets for two years since the orphanage had thrown me out because I was “old enough to take care of my self”. I was just 16 at that time.

At the time, I tried to find out about my parents killers, but I couldn’t find anything. Nobody had ever heard of men with glowing eyes. People started to call me crazy, but only I could remember what I saw that night.

With my belly full and my body warm, I was in a very good mood.

Suddenly I felt very dizzy. The world around me swam in a way that forced me to close my eyes.

I suddenly opened my eyes in alarm when I realised what the problem was. I had been drugged! I had taken sleeping pills as a child when I was sick so i easily recognised its effects.

Did that lady drug me? But why? I tried to get up

from the floor, but I fell right back down.

Yes….. I was definitely drugged.

As I rolled on the floor, panic quickly filled my head, Why would she drug me? Why was I foolish enough to eat food from a stranger! My instincts where right! Humans couldn't be trusted!

Suddenly I heard footsteps rush towards me.

“Quick grab her before anyone sees us!”

I opened my eyes to see the woman with the red lipstick ordering 2 muscular men to kidnap me.

One of the men grabbed me by my shoulders and tried to lift me up. I turned my head and bit him as hard as I could until I felt blood flood into my mouth.

He immediately let me go making me fall back hard on the ground.

“FUCKING BITCH, SHE BIT ME!” he screamed his partner just laughed at him.

“Careful with her! Sex slaves are expensive to replace, especially this one! Do you know how much I spent watching her grow up all this years? Better be careful!”

My eyes widened in alarm.

They had been watching me for years??? And they were kidnapping me to be a sex slave?!

“But she really bit me... look it’s bleeding.” The man complained.

“Oh don’t be a baby.” she scolded the man I bit, “its just a little nibble….are you really going to let an underweight tiny teenage girl make you cry?” she mocked and I heard the man swallow groans of pain.

“She’s fighting the drug, but she’s still weak, carry her quickly”. She commanded.

I was lifted from the ground and dropped at the back of a black van, before I could gather enough strength to protest, I felt the van speed away.

The car drove all through the night and by dawn, I heard the car stop. I was still dizzy but I could hear them talking.

“Miss Sar—Sorry —Miss Victoria really got a pretty one this time. I bet selling her as a sex slave would bring us a loooot of money," one of the muscular men said.

“I'm not quite sure about that, she very very skinny. I think Miss Victoria should have just abandoned her to die that night”. Replied the other one.

“Well haven't you been watching her this last few years? She barely has anything to eat! All she needs is a little food, I still think the men would pay a lot of good money for Fresh meat like her.”

I felt my body turn cold in fear and confusion.

Nothing they said made any sense! She saved me?! When?!! And they were selling me? To who?.

Why were they calling me fresh meat? Where they going to kill me? All this thoughts were floating around in my dizzy

brain when I felt the car stop.

“Alright boys, its time to load her up on the plane” I heard Victoria's voice order the men.

I was then taken off the van and put on an airplane.

“She looks like shes waking up, give her another dose of the sleeping drug, I don’t want her to ever be able to trace her way back to the human territory again.” Victoria instructed. My heart pounded faster in alarm at her words.

We were not in human territory anymore?

“Welcome home baby girl” was the last thing Victoria whispered to me before I fainted from the drugs.
