Allie's POV
"Allie," Aaron called again.I spun around triumphantly and used the sharp tip of my finger to pinch my other arm hoping I was hallucinating, but unfortunately, he was here standing at the gate. I should have known that someone might be sent to come pick me up, but I never predicted that it would be Aaron himself.I guess his millions of dollars are worth it."Aaron," I whispered nervously while scratching my neck."Lon... g time no see" I greeted dumbly, unable to recognize my voice because of how frightened and anxious I was. I kept fiddling with my hands while Aaron made dominating footsteps towards me. I froze at the spot. He stopped when it was merely a hairsbreadth between us."Was he trying to hug me? " I wondered, yet I was surprised that he moved that close to me. He used to scrunch his face in disgust at my appearance. I took a step backward to give space between us."Do you know how worried I.. we were?" he questioned and hastily grabbed me to himself when he detected that I was about to take another step backward. My whole body went cold from the body contact. Where is the promise I made not to be intimidated by him ever again? I wiggled my arm from his grasp, but he didn't let go. He was determined not to let me go, but I was more relentless in his demand. Not anymore.I folded my arms and stood straight with a squeezed face while impatiently tapping my leg on the pavement. I am very sure I look like a stubborn 12-year-old, but I don't care.He chuckled at my expression instead."Do I look humorous?" I pondered inwardly. I was battling with my inner and outer expression, but I knew deep down that I just wanted to cry myself to sleep and forget about everything that happened today."You don't look like someone who was just captured" he muttered, skimming his eyes around my face and then my body shamelessly."Do they write it on their faces that they were captured? " I hissed, feeling fatigued as I separated my hands from each other."Are you working as a con now?" He doubted, staring at my abode in disgust. How crude! Typical Pompous Aaron.I desperately wanted to say this directly to him.Aaron wanted to say something but he got interrupted by his ringing phone."Aaron! How was it? Did you get a handle on those good-for-nothing beings?" Mrs Smith cursed breathlessly. That is a first. I bowed my head in guilt. She must have been so worried."Common Mum! I already mentioned earlier that I don't want this issue to escalate"Aaron enunciated sternly."What about Allie? Is she alright? Did they touch her?" Mrs Smith bombarded him with questions and I scratched my forged in an awkward shame at her question of the kidnappers touching me. As if he just realised something, he stared at me and I nodded my head in response."She's fine mother" Aaron breathed in relief."Can you hand over the phone to her please?" His mother insisted."We will be at home in the next hour," Aaron sighed."Alright then" I heard her say before hanging up."Let's go" he urged."Hun" I replied with a raised eyebrow feigning ignorance, but I know that's the main reason he came here."You aren't deaf right?" he groaned, already fed up with me I guess."I am not going with you. Leave me alone!" I protested."Did they touch you?" he asked callously out of nowhere."No""What If they did?" I challenged myself open-mindedly."They wouldn't dare," Aaron replied coldly. His expression completely changed in the blink of an eye."What if they did? I see you are confident about that" I questioned again not even minding my subconscious mind remembering when the two kidnappers were bargaining to take advantage of me."It's obvious those people aren't professionals. They just need the cash. I warned them too" he proclaimed proudly about his tacticsI was about to go inside my apartment before he closed the space between us and carried me in his strong arms. "Leave me alone!" I exclaimed while wiggling my legs in every direction."Don't be an ungrateful young lady. If it wasn't for Mother, I wouldn't be here. I am sure you know that" he read as he opened the back seat.Aaron made sure I was settled enough before he gave Richard his personal chauffeur a go-ahead."Yours or Mr Smith's boss?" the driver asked."My parents" he replied simply.Richard was about to ignite the car before I panicked when I realised I had left my kitty behind."Can I at least bring" Blue" with me? "I pleaded."Who is Blue? " Aaron asked furiously."My cat""Where is he?""Go and check if there is really a Kitty," he said, facing Richard, shunning me in the process."Sure boss"I rolled my eyes as silence descended when Richard left."What were you doing out late at night? " Aaron questions.I refused to respond, trying to prove stubborn with my arms wrapped together regardless that I was literally shaking inside.Aaron looked at me with a questionable gaze while patiently waiting for me to react or answer but I obliged."I found her shrouded up behind the small garden," Richard declared.Aaron nodded his head in acknowledgment. He raised his hands towards Richard to carry "Blue" before handing her to me."Let's set in motion Richard," Aaron said hurriedly."Sure boss. "~~~As expected, Aaron's mother was present outside the villa patiently waiting for our arrival.Richard had to drive to the building car park before we could alight from the car. I tiredly walk towards her while she impatiently pulls me into an embrace."Oh dear. I warned you concerning the location you chose to settle in, didn't I? " she inquired in that motherly voice of hers.I never realized how much I missed her till now."I am sorry Mother" I apologized."Are you alright?" Mrs Smith questioned while surveying her eyes all over my body with concern laced in her voice.I intentionally stared at Aaron who had stood there listening to us. He rolled his eyes when he caught a glimpse of my eyes on him. He scrunched up his nose like he was displeased by our display but before I could react back, Mum gestured her hands towards the entrance for us to go in.She made sure I was relaxed on the soft sofa in the large living room."Have you had your dinner? So I can call Layla to give you those extraordinary massages of hers?" She suggested while caressing my hands."I had my dinner before going out for a stroll earlier. And.....about the massage, I will pass. I just need a snooze. You know.....to relax myself. I am fine, trust me Mother" I reassured."Alright dare, I understand but you still need to..""Mum, what about Dad?" Aaron cut in and I was kinda thankful for that."He is in his room. He is slowly responding to his medications "Mrs. Smith replied while adjusting her legs to face Aaron."The doctor said he just needs a lot of rest for now. I just hope he will be alright "She said, her eyes bored in sadness. I plumbed myself to get closer to her and embrace her in a heartwarming hug. She stiffed at first before relaxing in my arms. Two weeks ago, I got the news that Mr Smith had a cardiac arrest. Even though Aaron was on a business trip, he had to rush back home according to what Mrs Smith told her.It was the same week my boss started acting weird towards me. I just hope he will consider our once-close relationship and call me back to work. Oh God! I am so anguished for him to do that.We both hugged for a few minutes before Aaron announced his departure. "I am leaving" he declared openly before slamming the door."Be careful son" Mrs Smith whispered but it was only audible to me.Allie's POVMum decided to disentangle from the hug for me to settle into my old space which has already been cleaned by Layla(the house help).Mum insists that I should visit Dad in his chamber tomorrow forenoon. I grabbed the towel and walked into the bathroom for a refreshing shower. It took me a while to leave the bathtub.I walked back into my room contemplating on what colour of nightdress to put on. I decided to go with my favourite lacquer which is blue.I suddenly remember my little kitty, roaming my eyes around the room and he was wrapped up behind the dressing table. Guess one of the maids might have brought him into the room.I signed in solace, then used a finger to lose my towel from the tip. I walked towards the huge mirror that hung like a chandelier but just beneath my dressing table to check myself out."What if those people touched me like they thought they would have?" I shivered at the thought."I don't think I would survive it and my boss, Oh good lord I hope he w
I shifted closer to him with my eyebrows furrowed together. Perplexed and curious about what this sneaky man could be up to.He cleared his throat one more time before he spoke up."I want you to convince Aaron to get married, to have even a girlfriend. Just a lady that could be by his side""I don't get what you are trying to say, " I said, shaking my head sideways, incompetent at accumulating everything at once."I want you to talk to him, or perhaps get him someone for him to date. ""You want me to persuade him to get a woman? a lady to be called his? " I said, staring at him like he has gone, psycho.I raised my possibly wrinkled eyebrows at him for him to acknowledge my questions hoping I misheard him"Yeah..h""Yeah!? " I scoffed, obviously feeling unsettled by his sudden request. There must be a vital reason he needed me to do this kind of thing."How is that even doable Dad? you know how much we dislike each other. How did you even come up with this in the first place? And Aar
Allie's POVI did not hold off for him to finish his sentence before sauntering out of the room with a thudding heart. Aaron did not skip to give me that suspicious glare which made him cut off whatever he was about to let out. But I made sure I eavesdropped to hear his first utterance.I huddled my left ear to the wicket, my butt pointed north side after I had make sure no one is moving towards the passageway just then, I heard him holler at his father"Why did you refuse to use your medications?! Are you planning to kill yourself? "I huffed at his rudeness. Till today, I still don't have any idea why these two don't seem to get along. It's a quizzical and logical something which I got no answers to. I puffed out, relieved that he did not hear a dim of our conversation. Although, my heart was still whipping non-stop my clarification made my breathing subside a little. I thought I had passed through moments of being a scary cat for this man, guessed I was wrong but considering my di
"Live with me" he suggested, not daring to meet her gaze, not because he was scared but nervous about her reaction to what he said. "What! you are not trying to say that I should live in the same building as you? Are you? " she asked, with eyes almost popping out of its socket hoping that was not the message he was trying to convey. "What's wrong with that? and by the way, that wasn't my intent, but mum thinks it's safer if you live with me" he mumbled, rolling his eyes but he knew deep down he just lied against his mother. Her face hunkered up. She scoffed in incredulity that Mrs.Smith had intended to make her stay with Aaron. Aaron of all people! This had better be some kind of quip. She pressed her hands on her lap and folded her lips in themselves like someone who was trying to quell herself from lashing out their frustration. She was discerned not to give in to this certain whiff of theirs even if it was practically suggested by Mrs.Smith as Aaron supposed. She recalled tho
I woke up at dusk and my body was all weak. My vision is blurry for a moment trying to adjust to my surroundings till everything clicks. I sluggishly stretch my whole length on the comfy bed even though my eyes are not yet brightly open. It took me some minutes to remember that I had taken my siesta in a room different from mine.I groaned and reluctantly stood up. I was as famished as someone who hadn't eaten for days. I dragged my feet out of the room staring at the building having no idea where to find the kitchen. Nevertheless, I decided to wander around if I could get any clue. I successfully found the magnificent cooking space after some time. I used a few minutes to contemplate whether to make Aaron's food with mine then I decided to go with my compassionate mind and cook for him too I settled for mashed potato since that was the only ingredient I found. I left his potion in the stakes. Not even bothering to engage in food etiquette, I sauntered towards the living room and
The remaining days of the week passed away with me sleeping, going through my credentials, and taking advantage of the opportunity to tour the mansion. It was so bland. Mum gave me a buzz once and our conversation ended just as it started. Today is Sunday, a day that is supposed to be a relaxing day for workers but Aaron is nowhere to be found. Even the day before, I retained going out to peep if I would get a glimpse of him but neither did he show up nor call me. During those four days, I only saw him in the morning, which means I had slept while he was back. I ignored him like a plague after all he warned me to stay out of his business. Deep down, I knew it was not the right thing to do since my days here are limited. I precisely need to familiarize myself and focus on myself and my new job for now so I can tackle my deal. Before I slept off, I had set the alarm to 6:00 am and messaged Aaron which he did not reply. "I am yet to be with my car. Can you notify Richard to help pic
I puffed out air abruptly feeling frazzled, but I did a good job composing myself. I traipse forward, dragged the chair backwards, and sat on it. I handed over my credentials to him without reluctance when he asked for them while he watched my movement like he was tracking down another way to slur me. I did not give him the prospect as I kept an emotionless face combined with a grim smile trying not to convey a rude self. I noticed a smirk plastered on his face from the side of my eye. It made my heart swell in anger. I dislike the way he makes me feel like he knows what is going through my mind. I have no reason to be mad at him but I felt entitled to that emotion after he ditched me all alone in that huge house. Maybe I was overreacting. I adjusted the waistband of my skirt even though it was unwarranted. I was becoming nervous with the way he was taking a long time to ask questions. He cleared his voice bracing up to begin his queries after he had satisfied his urges to go thro
Allie's POVI caught up with him when he was about to press the elevator panel button. Breathing heavily, I had to clasp tight to my handbag with the hope that it would appease my inhalation. "Richard is waiting for you. You can start tomorrow," he informed me, veering around and gesturing his hand for me to collect my credentials which I had forgotten to take after my interview. "I don't want to go home" I whined before I could stop myself. I have no idea where that came from. "You can go shopping with him then." he implied, shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly. "I don't want to" I declined again as I followed him into the elevator. "Then what do you want?!" he yelled, his ocean-blue eyes boring into mine. I shivered backwards in fright. I knew I was behaving like I am sort of attached to him but did he have to react that way? "You don't have to be grumpy though" I mumbled, adjusting the bag on my shoulder. "Allie, you need to get this straight and clear. You aren't living with
