Standing outside of the massive high school in the middle of a city was not something I ever expected I would be doing in my life. I had been living in the woods, in a small log cabin with my mother, who homeschooled me, until recently. When my father showed up and declared that I was coming to live with him, I moved to a big city. As I looked around at everyone going in and out of the high school, I looked down at myself and knew that I didn’t belong. All the girls were dressed to the nines, with beautiful clothes, a lot of makeup and high heels. Like they were about to attend a fashion show or something like that. “Leo. What the fuck are you doing? Get out of here.” I yelled. “You are my fucking problem.” He yelled. “What are you talking about?” I asked. “The Alpha promised to leave this pack to me. That was before you came back into the picture. You’re his true heir and now you’re going to take it away from me.” He said, stumbling closer to me. “You are fucking drunk. Get out of my room before I kick your ass like I did to Skylar.” I yelled. “You are a gold digging bitch. You didn’t want anything to do with your father until now. Because as soon as you turn 18, you will be old enough to take over the pack.”He walked closer to the shower but I just stood there, staring him in the eyes to let him know that I was not intimidated by him. “You just showed up out of nowhere and embarrassed the hell out of me at school for what? Just to ruin my fucking life?” He growled. “No. I will be old enough to find my mate at 18. Who the fuck wants to lead a pack at the age of 18? You’re delusional.”

I glanced up at everyone to see if there was anyone staring at me or playing with their phones. And a lot of them had their phones out, but they didn’t look suspicious to me. Not like they were sending cryptic messages to me or anything like that. But I wouldn’t know for sure who was sending me these messages. They could be pretending that it’s not them. I wasn’t sure if it was too much of a coincidence or not and I made sure that I kept my eye on everyone that was around me. My mother had always taught me to watch my surroundings. I didn’t think I would have to do so much of it here. But I guess I needed to watch my back more than ever now. By lunch time that day I went to my locker and I put my books in it and then I headed out the front of the school. I definitely wasn’t going to the cafeteria and I wanted to go somewhere where I knew that I could be alone. And I sat at the table out the front of the school. When I arrived at school the next day, I saw that everything was back to normal. Well, my kind of normal. Everyone was staring at me and whispering about me while they were covering their mouths and whispering to their friends so that I couldn’t hear them. I just rolled my eyes, thinking that maybe they had learnt their lesson about pissing me off, but I guess not. Or I guess they just had something else to talk about today. It seemed to be going around though. I saw Leo walking past with a few of his friends, who seemed to have grown in size overnight. He didn’t have that many friends yesterday. But he was showing them something on his phone and when he saw me he made sure that they hushed their voices. I knew that he was behind this. He was doing something to make everyone hate me again. I ran out the side gate of the house and I kept running until I was far enough away from the house that I knew they weren’t following me. But even then, I didn’t slow my pace. I kept running at a steady speed until I hit the highway and I was running along the highway. It was getting later in the afternoon and the chill in the air was getting more prominent. But I still had my big hoodie on and my boots. Plus I was running, so I wasn’t too concerned about the weather. The cold didn’t bother werewolves as much as it bothered humans.
