Chapter Three: The Party

She flipped back the envelope there was nothing there except the stamp with a previous date."Whi is he? Why is he sending her flowers?" She left the flowers and envelope and headed towards the kitchen for a coffee, She had a rough day.

The next day, the house was full of people laughing and enjoying the moment. All her friends were sitting in the lounge.  There were girls chatting, and boys discussing their stuff. There were also some unfamiliar faces, they were her brother's colleagues.

"Hello everyone!"  she was walking towards them with hands folded against her chest.  Se had everyone's attention. Pretty milk-white face with dark hair and light natural make-up, she was so beautiful that nobody can resist looking at her. 

"How are you, Sarah?"

"Come let's make boys lose this game"

"Come sit"

Many people were gossiping about her, she could hear them clearly. But she did not pay attention. People usually do this when she was around. She was used to it.

No! let me help aunty in the kitchen, if she needs a hand then I will join you guys. She was talking about Emily's mother who worked as a chef and today she was preparing dinner.

Jenny, lucy also joined Sarah in the kitchen. Sarah's mom was sitting on a chair. "Mom! let me help aunty in the kitchen". She nodded her head in agreement.

Emily's mother sarcastically said, " I know why you are here, you are interested in my son" I was wondering why my son keeps talking about you. The last time we met you would have cast some spell on him, that is why he is fallen for you and kept on insisting on marrying you.

"She knows how to win boy's heart" added a woman living 2 apartments away.

"Such a shameless girl, just look at her dress, so revealing ..she is no better than a whore". Just look at my sweet daughter Emily, how decent she is. I don't why she is even friends with her. 

Emily's mother did not like Sarah, in fact, she hated her for no reason, His son was very much interested in her just because she was a perfect being none like women in his family especially her spoiled sister Emily.

Sarah was hurt, badly hurt she did not saw this coming. Why these are doing this to me? I did not cause them any harm. It's not my fault that Emily's brother is interested in me.

She managed to control herself and step outside the kitchen where nobody had a slight idea what just happened to her.

She sat beside her mother.

" What happened?" her mother asked, feeling something is off about her.

"Nothing mom" She faked a smile and succeeded in convincing her mom. She was thinking about Emily's mother why she is full of hatred for her and those flowers, did Emily's bother sent them to me? Was he the one behind all this? She had thousands of questions in her mind with no answers.

"But Emily's brother was out of town when I received the email, or maybe he had returned. I did hear a noise outside my room, may it was him, he heard my conversation with Grace and left flowers and an envelope for me. But how come the date mentioned on the envelope was of the previous day? Maybe he used a fake stamp". She was trying to solve the mystery by herself. In her heart, she knew it's someone else. Someone she is missing out.

Anyways! Forget it. First thing first, I have to talk to Emily's brother to stop this nonsense. She went outside on the lawn where she saw Emily's brother with some other guys.

"Hey, Sarah! How are you doing?" said Emily's brother sawing Sarah walking towards her. 

I am good. Can I have a word with you?

"Sure". guys give me a minute.

"Yes Sarah, You seem quite stressed, Is everything fine?"

"How could be it fine when your mother keeps on announcing you have a crush on me. She insulted me so much, said bad things to me. This should not have happened."

"I am really sorry about that, I had no idea she will do such a thing. I just told her I like you and if I had to marry I will prefer someone like you" It's just that.

"Hey! look, I'll talk to her, It's just a misunderstanding ok, I'll make everything right. You don't have to worry. Com'on girl it's a big day you are going to the US".

Sarah Inquired " How do you know about the scholarship"

" Emily, Emily told me yesterday" Oh .. Sarah took a deep breath. Now it was crystal clear it was someone else. She knew it in her heart it's someone else.

Something click on her mind and she got pale in horror " It's mean I am being spied".
