Sylvia's P. O. V
I can't believe it!? Alex Jones, the most popular guy in Rocksville, is right in front of me. My heart went giddy and I could feel the butterflies in my tummy. This is too good to be true! " Uh.... Are you okay?" He asked again, jolting me out of my trance. " Uh? Oh... Um, yes. I-I'm fine." I stuttered, my eyes widened and my cheeks heating up. Then, remembering that Tasha might still be around, panic set in. " I-I'm sorry, I have to go now..." I quickly said and rushed out of the hallway. Oh God... I'm so late for class.... Alex's P. O. V Tilting my head, I watched as she rushed out of the hallway. Is she okay? Why is she in a hurry? " Hmm, whatever, " I muttered and went to my class.... Sylvia's P. O. V School dragged on wearily after that, and soon enough it was closing time. I was elated for that because it meant that I wouldn't be in these wall for the next few hours and I was really looking forward to that. I quickly packed my books and made to head home straight. On my way out I spotted Patrick, he sat on a raised pavement, shielded by a tree. Remembering we didn't get to talk properly yesterday, I decided to try again. Hopefully, he'll listen to me this time around. But when I got closer to him, he was already leaving. " Hey... Wait up!" I called after him but it's either he didn't hear or just didn't want to reply. I sighed in exasperation. Why is everyone making things so hard for me? I was about turning when I spotted a crumpled note that fell from the raised pavement down to the floor. Curious, I made to pick it up. I straightened it out and as I read it, I realized it was an attempt at a letter. It read;. 📃📃📃 Sorry, I didn't mean to..... I was confused. What did this mean? Not bothering much about it, I folded the piece of paper and put in my suit pocket, heading home. I arrived home and, once again, my mum was packing her homemade sweaters. Ever since she opened an online shop, she's been making more sales. " Hey mom.... " I greeted her, heading to the kitchen for a drink as I was really thirsty. " Hi honey... How was school today?" " Fine. What about you?" " Well, business was moving today and now that I think about it, I might need some help to deliver all of these items " " I can help." I offered. She gazed at me fondly. " Thanks for volunteering. I really need it." " No problem, it's just the two of us,, anyway." Yeah, my dad died when I was really little, so it's just been me and my mom sticking it out for a very long time. My mum can't afford a delivery man, so we do all our delivery ourselves. Personally, I think it's better this way. " Great, you'll be delivering this parcel-" pointing to the one on her far right, " to this address. I'll handle the rest." " After dinner?" I asked. " Yeah, after dinner." " Great, I'll go freshen up and be down in a minute. " " Okay dear, will be waiting. " My mum called after me.... Once I was through with dinner, I picked up the parcel my mum told me to deliver and the address attached to it. So I could get there faster as I didn't have any money to board a cab. I took my bicycle and rode it. With the parcel safely strapped to my back, I wore my earphones and began humming to the tunes playing out. It wasn't hard finding the address, but what stood out to me was the person the parcel was for. It was definitely a high-class person in the society cause the house was huge! A far cry from the one my mom and I were living in. I smiled internally. My mum is really doing great if someone from this calibre is shopping from here. I got down from the bicycle and pressed on the door bell. A huge man answered, his face stiff. " Yes, what can I do for you?" He asked, his voice curt. " Uh... Good evening. I want to deliver this parcel here. It's a delivery. " The man peered at me for a while before opening the door. I bowed as I walked, surveying the compound. Someone could get lost in here. Finally, I got to the doorstep and pressed the doorbell. " Coming..." A small girly voice answered. The door opened and a small head peeked out, her eyes smiling at me. She had the most beautiful Hazel eyes I've ever seen. " Hello." I greeted, instantly smiling. " Hi. Who are you?" She asked. " I'm Sylvia. I came to deliver this parcel. Someone from this house bought some sweaters from my mom. " " That would be my mom. Come on in. " She said, opening the door wider. " Thank you." I replied, walking in. " Woah!!" I gasped, surveying the interior of the house. The little girl giggled beside me. " Everyone has that same reaction when they walk in. I like to call it 'money talking. ' " It definitely is." I replied. " What's your name, sweetie? " " Hazel. " " Pretty. Matches your eyes. Where should I put this? " " Um... Put it over there. " She said, pointing at a raised pavement in the guest living room. I dropped the parcel where she pointed. " I'll be leaving now." I said. " Hopefully we'll get to meet again. " I made to over, but she stopped me. " Don't go just yet. I haven't got anyone to talk to. Just stay a little while... And help me out with drawing." " O-okay, if you want that." " Yay!" she cheered and hurried forward, me tagging along behind her. " Hazel, wait up!" Once we got to the main living room, she stopped and pointed to scattered pencil colours on the floor. "Ah... I see. You were drawing before I came here." " Yes I was. " She replied smiling. Then It dropped. " It gets awfully lonely in here sometimes when my parents aren't home and my brother is not around either. So maybe you could fill that up. You seem nice." I was going to ask who her brother was and why he would want to leave this girl alone here, but I stopped as my eyes caught something. It was a picture frame with someone in it really familiar. Curious, I went over to pick it up. What I saw made my heart skip a beat. Shocked, I turned to Hazel. " Um, Hazel... Is this where Alex Jones lives?" I asked. " Yes, he's my brother." She replied proudly. I widened my eyes. Oh no. I didn't get enough time to recover as I began to hear approaching footsteps. " Hazel, Hazel... Where are you?" His rich baritone voice boomed in the room, and my hands became sweaty. He can't see me like this. I don't even have my lucky lip gloss on!! He soon appeared into the room looking all breathtaking and ready to go out and I, frozen to the spot, just kept staring at me. " There you are!" He said to Hazel. " Was looking all over for you." " Alex, look, I made a new friend. Her name's Sylvia." He turned to me and I managed a small wave. He looked confused at first, but his eyes soon dawned in recognition. My heart began pounding. Oh God, oh God, oh God... " You again?!" He asked, surprised Oh boy....Sylvia Pov " H-hi.." I muttered, scratching my hair. He still wore the surprised look. " What are you doing here?" He asked me, but I was toi tongue-tied to reply. Did Alex just speak to me?? " She came to deliver a parcel." Hazel replied, then gazed at her brother, her brows scrunched up. " Are you going out?" " Um... Yes. " He replied, glancing at me. " But what about me? " She asked, pouting. " Mum's going to be home soon. Besides, you have the maids and nanny Patricia to keep you company. I won't take long, I promise." He said. " Whatever... She muttered and stomped out of the room. Alex sighed and shrugged. He then turned to me. " I-i have to go now. My mum's probably waiting for me." I began when I finally got a hold of myself, moving backwards. " Okay." Due to my nervousness, I bumped into one of the chairs on my way out. " Sorry." I whispered, my cheeks reddening. Alex chuckled, amused. I hurriedly snatched my bags and sprinted out of th
Sylvia's P. O. V I jumped on the bed, giggling excitedly. I had seen my crush twice today and even talked on both occasions, though the meetings were brief. What more could I ask for? Best day ever! But then I remembered Tasha threat's and my heart sank. I have to her closer to Patrick, so as to avoid being humiliated in front of everyone. How am I supposed to do that? He hardly even talks! Oh well, there's nothing I can do than wait it out. Sooner or later I'll have to admit that the love note was originally for her boyfriend Alex. Remembering Alex again, I placed my hands on my chin and smiled, all starry-eyed. Oh, my....... (Next day: school hours) The biology teacher wrote on the board, with everyone taking down notes. After some time, he stopped and turned towards us. " For your midterm test..." He began, closing his marker, " I'll be dividing you all into groups and each group will make a presentation of any topic you prefer, under the curriculum. "
. Tasha's P. O. V I stirred a bit, fluttering my eyes open afterwards. My eyes landed on Alex, who was still sleeping beside me. I straightened up a bit to watch his sleeping face, smiling to myself. Even though the whole stuff is unplanned and it still feels a little too soon, I know there's no other way I would've wanted it... Especially when Alex is involved. Alex soon stirred and snapped his eyes. Groaning as he stood up, he rubbed the back of his neck. " Hey..." He greeted hoarsely. I smiled. " Hi yourself.. " I replied. " What's the time?" He asked. I shrugged a bit and replied, " 7:34pm?" Once he heard that, he stared at me with a shocked expression on his face, his eyes widening. " Oh, shit!" He cussed underneath his breath. " I have to go..." He muttered, hurriedly picking up his clothes. " So quick? Why are you in such a hurry?" I asked, staring at him, bewildered. " You won't understand..." He said as he put on the lasts of his clothes.
Sylvia's P. O. V His laughter caused a million things to happen to his face, making him look even more breathtaking. I subconsciously placed his smiling face with Alex's and trust me, if everyone saw him like this, there would have been a stiff competition on who was the most handsome boy in Rocksville high. Sadly though, the look disappeared as quickly as it came. He immediately sobered up, and a frown replaced his once beautiful face. Frankly speaking, there's a good chance I might have forgotten what I came here for in the first place. Eventually, he stood up, planning to leave. Stopping midway, he turned. " I'll get back to you concerning the project." " H-how?" I found myself asking. " I don't know. I'll just get back to you." He said and left the library. I watched him leave and, brushing my bangs off my face, smiled to myself. Well... That wasn't so bad.... I headed home and once I walked in I met my mum in a rush but that's not
Sylvia's P. O. V " I... Um..." I stammered, shutting myself up. Tasha's glare remained. " I said, what are you doing here?" She asked again, her voice even meaner than before. I shivered slightly, unsure of what to say. " She came to babysit me." Hazel's voice rang through as she came to join me at the door. I breathed out in relief, grateful for the intervention. Tasha's glowering gaze lowered as she stared at the little girl who held my hand, smiling up at her. " I suppose you're right." She replied, her voice suddenly calm. Pushing me to the side and walking in, she glanced around. " Where's Alex?" she asked. " He's in his room." Hazel replied in that childlike voice of hers. " Thanks. I'll go up then. You guys have fun. "She said with a smile on her face which didn't reach her eyes as she glared menacingly at me. I'm pretty sure I get the point. Sashaying up the stairs, Hazel tugged at my fingers. " Let's go play." She called out, and I nodded.
. (Next day: at school) Sylvia's P. O. V I kept drumming my fingers on the table, distracted. Every time I remembered Tasha's threats, a shudder runs down my spine. But seriously though, why does she hate me that much? It's not like I did anything to her. The Bell soon rang for the end of class and without waiting for what the teacher had to say, we trooped out of class. I needed to see Patrick. I wanted to know if there's was any update concerning the project we had together. I found him at the library, his head buried in another book. I noticed there were some files neatly arranged before him. Suddenly nervous, I brushed my bangs off my face and dusted imaginary dusts from my clothes. Fixing a smile on my face, I called out to him. He raised his eyes and, glancing at me for a second before facing his book. I don't know why, but it kind of hurt my feelings. Is he ignoring everyone again? " What are those?" I asked after a long strained silence. He pushed
Tasha's P. O. V I stomped out to the garden, ruffling my hair. My blood was boiling, and it was so hard to calm down. " I can't believe it!...." I muttered, puffing. " Calm down Tasha. Maybe Alex didn't mean it." Linda tried to say but I brushed her off. " What do you mean he didn't mean it? Of course he did. Didn't you see the way he looked at me? Like I was some idiot?" I said, glaring at her. Linda played with her hair, looking away. " Oh God..." I muttered, trailing off. This just gives me more reason to hate that Sylvia girl more. And I promise myself that I'll do everything I can to get back at her. Everything.... Sylvia's P. O. V Standing at the door of the Jones house, I took in a deep breath. I already told my mom about the babysitting job I got and so far she seemed cool with it. Let's see how today goes. Pressing on the doorbell, I waited for a reply. Soon the door opened and the maid I had met earlier appeared. " Hell
(Presentation day) Patrick's P. O. V " No....no...NO!" I yelled from my sleep, panting. Shit, i was having a nightmare. Thank God, it felt so real. Taking in deep breaths to calm my jittering nerves, I ran my hands through my hair. Why would I have a nightmare of Sylvia dying in my hands? We've barely even talked the entire last week? " Maybe it's just my subconscious playing games with me." I muttered, dismissing the thought. I didn't sleep well last night. I couldn't stop thinking about New Jersey. Maybe that's why I had the nightmare. Glancing at the wall clock, I realized I had woken up a bit early. Since I can't go to sleep, there's nothing else to do than to prepare for school.... Sylvia's P. O. V The alarm bell rang, and I groaned, turning to another corner of the bed. Clicking on the snooze button, I snuggled deeper into the sheets, trying to catch a few minutes of sleep. " Sylvia, how many times have you pressed that snooze button?"
