CHAPTER TWO

I woke up exhausted after Vicky came back with the guy, Derek, who I later found out was his name. The last thing I remember was both of them trying to change my mind that I should loosen up a bit, and we ended up having a drinking challenge of some sort. I stretched my hands to the sound of my phone with my eyes half closed as I picked up the call, not bothering to check who it was.

"Hello."

"Hey, sweetie, How are you? "

"I'm fine, mum, and good morning,” I heard the sound of chuckling as I wondered what was fun.

"It's 2:30 in the afternoon, sweetie," I turned to the side of my bed as I looked at the wall clock to see that it was really two in the afternoon.

"Went out last night with Vicky. I'm really exhausted. " My mom and I are really close, so I tell her everything from my first crush down to my first kiss.

"I see Victoria is still the same," she laughed.

"Could you please come by later this evening? Your father and I have something to tell you. "

"Of course, no problem."

"All right, sweetie, I love you."

"Love you too," I hung up the phone and put it away, finally getting out of bed and stretching my body, walking into the bathroom to freshen up after bathing and other necessities. I walked out with a towel tied around my body and head as I walked to the closet to get a change of clothes.

I stood there for five minutes before deciding on a white t-shirt and sweats. I walked to the mirror, removing the towel from my hair as I used my hair dryer. When done, I put it up in a messy ponytail. I walked out of my bedroom to the kitchen to find Vicky sitting on the kitchen counter scrolling through her phone.

"Hey, how was your night?" I asked while opening the fridge to look for what to eat.

"Ugh, I'm seriously hungover," she responded.

I asked again. I'm going over to my parents' for dinner tonight. Apparently, they have something to tell me. Do you want to come? "

I wish I could, but I already made plans with Derek for tonight. I will go visit this weekend. "

"Okay," I said as I took out the left over mac 'n' cheese from yesterday and put it in the microwave as I waited for it to heat up.

"But what do you think they want to talk about?" she asked.

“I don't know, I'm kind of nervous. I just hope his health hasn't been good lately. I just hope he's okay, “ I responded, feeling a little bit anxious.

"I'm sure he is, but it takes more than that to bring Uncle Patrick down." "He's one strong man," she said, standing up to give me a hug.

"Many thanks, Vicky."

"Thank you; now I have to get ready for my date."

I took out the food from the microwave as Vicky went into her room to get ready.

As I eat I couldn't help but wonder what the dinner was all about..

I was a nervous wreck as I pulled up to my parents' home, which was more like a mansion. My folks were not the type to schedule an unexpected supper unless it was a serious matter. I rang the bell and anxiously waited for the front door to open.

"Hey Roy, it's been a while," Eleanor, our family maid and nanny, said as she opened the door.

"Hi Nan, it's good to see you," I said before walking in to see everyone sitting at the table, which also included my older brother, whom I love to death. I had a sickly feeling that something was up as they were staring at me.

After greetings and pleasantries, we started dinner, talking about everything we had missed so far, from random stuff to

"So honey, your mum and I have something to tell you," my dad said, clearing his throat.

" What... Is it about your health?" I asked why the anxiety eats me up.

“ Of course not sweetie, your dad is perfectly fine.” My mother exclaimed, her lips stretched wide in an excited grin.

I turned to look at my brother, who avoided my eyes and kept staring above my head.

My mum squealed, "Sweetie, you're getting married!"
