Ethan’s POV “Run, just keep running.” I begged my wolf, Greg. He is exhausted. We have been running for hours. But I know he is no match for the protection detail. Nix’s POV Eden has not let go of my hand since we were in the attic. She is so beautiful. Her attitude sucks a little, but how else would a spoiled Princess act? It’s not really her fault they have given her everything she ever wanted. My mom raised me differently. We had nothing and appreciated everything; I saw how hard my mom worked for everything. I wish Eden had got to meet my mom. The next best thing I guess is Vance. “Is there any chance we can slip away so I can call my dad? You know, before we go speak to your parents, I think he should know.” She smiles at me before giving me a kiss. “Sure.” She guides me to a library. One of her dads follows us. They are not taking any risks that I might mark her. I pulled out my mobile phone. She laughs at how old it is. “What? I only need it to make calls with.” I ignored her and dialed Vance’s number. It rings a few times. “Hi Nix,” Vance says. “Did you get there okay? We were worried when we hadn’t heard from you.”

Nix’s POV “Hey, farm boy,” somebody yells. I didn’t look around, as there couldn’t possibly be anyone talking to me. If they are, why are they talking to me? Nix’s POV After getting home, I made myself a birthday cake to celebrate my birthday. I think more tears went into it than anything else. I plan on eating it after I have finished my chores. ‘The farm won’t tend to itself’ was the phrase mom would use. I sat there and reminisced about my past birthday’s, what we would have done this evening. It was not very exciting compared to what other kids my age do. But I was grateful and happy. Reed’s POV I go to the address listed in Nix’s file. The principal is right; it is a farm and if he is working it. That would explain his strength and size, but not his aura. I drove about half a mile before I saw the house. It’s small and simple, nothing elaborate. I knocked on the door. No one answers. But I knew someone was home, so I knocked again. Nix’s POV When I heard a loud banging coming from the door, it startled me. I am not expecting any guests, even if I was no one I know would bang like that. From what he has told me, he works for the Wolf Council, which fulfills his need to be part of a pack, but he is not one of them.
