4am Wake up Call

Beep beep. Beep beep. Beep beep.

4am.

He always slept through his alarm, or storms, hell a freight train could drive straight through the room and he wouldn’t budge.  So the alarm he set was to wake her up so she could in turn wake him up.  She use to roll over in the morning naked and wake him up how most men dream of starting their day.  But, thing have been different this past year.  Who knows maybe he really was having an affair.  In any case, that was all history now.

I wonder how he would react if I gave him the same kind of wake up this morning.

It was still dark out being that it was early morning and fall.

Fuck it Kat you are married to this man; you do love him.  Take off your damn clothes and go wake up your husband.

She dropped her shorts to the ground and pulled off her shirt. She gently climbed across the mattress and flipped him on his back.  He moaned a little as he started to wake.  He had always slept nude so it made thing much easier.  She kissed his neck and guided him into her.  It only took a couple seconds for Robert to wake and understand what was going on.  He grabbed her tightly by the hips and let her do her thing.

“Oh. Kitty Kat.” He stiffened.

That was enough to send her over the edge.  She rolled over and they both lay there breathing heavy.

“I missed you.” Robert whispered with his eyes closed hand on her thigh.

“I missed you.  Thank you for this house babe.” She rolled over gave him a kiss and got up to go clean up.

The shower was beautiful to say the least.  It seemed to be original to the house with a slight modification to the shower head.  The tub was an old bear claw soaker tub, if she knew Robert didn’t need the shower she would be using it.  Instead she turned the hot water dial and she could hear the old pipes shutter.

Ugh. I hope that is not going to be a issue as well.

Kat stepped into the shower and pulled the curtain.  To her surprise she heard the door open and Robert pulled the curtain back.

“Is there room for two?” His sleepy smile took her back to college.

“Hmm. We may have to be a little close.” She smiled back and he jumped in, his foot caught the ledge and he more or less tripped.  Kat let out a giggle.  She had always told him he would die in the shower by no fault but his own.

“This bath has to go.  We could make a decent walk in shower so I don’t kill myself.”  He started to lather himself.

“I love this bath.” She watched him rinse and he paused. He pulled her into a hug and the water splattered her face softly.

“If you like it. We will keep it.” He kissed her forehead. “You done?”

“Mhmm.” He turned the water off stepped out and handed her a towel.

“I shouldn’t be too late today. I am just checking in, getting my office, meeting the staff and making myself familiar with the surgery unit.  What are your plans?” He started brushing his teeth.

“I have some work to do on the Chesapeake house. I need to go over a few of the elements.  The installers are thinking there may be an issue with measurements. Other than that, just waiting on the movers.  I hope I have time to make it into town for some groceries.  But just in case will you just grab some essentials on the way back? Milk, cereal, maybe some stuff for club sandwiches so I have something to feed the kids tonight.” She left little wet foot prints to the door.  Instead of digging through her night bag to find something to wear, she settled for the clothes she had dropped to the ground.

“I’ll just grab a pizza how does that sound?” He appeared at the door and made his way to his suit bag to dress for success.

“Sounds like you get to be the cool dad today.  What would make you even cooler would be if you could magically make a cup of coffee appear in my hand.” She walked over and helped him adjust his tie.  He could never get the tie right.

“Thanks.” He looked down at her and the look of determination on her face made him smile.

“You really think I would get beds and NOT remember your ridiculous coffee addiction?  There’s a Nespresso and Keurig waiting for you in the kitchen.”

            Her shoulders slouched in relief.

“You are a saint.” She patted his tie and strolled off to find the nectar of life.

She heard him whisper under his breath, “I am no saint.”  She was sure she was not meant to have heard it.  Was that him admitting to an affair? She took a deep breath and kept walking.  Her eyes scanned over the floor in the parlor.  The boards all laid flush.

Gasp.

Kat covered her mouth and walked towards the bay windows.  She ignored the sponginess of the floor board as she walked towards the view.

“What?! What’s wrong?” Robert came rushing into the room, throwing his shoe on at the same time.

“Robert! This view! It is absolutely breath taking.” She placed her hand on the window pane.

The room looked out over a beautifully gardened backyard with black iron fencing.  There were a few carved statues of beautiful woman gracing each corner of the yard.  But past that was rolling hills and tree tops.  The sun had just stared to rise in the East and it lit up the city scape miles away, like a beautiful watercolor.

“This view makes the house Robbie.” She was in awe.

“A perfect mix of rural and city. Just like you always wanted. Well, minus the beach. Glad you approve.” He had his briefcase in hand.

“Oh yeah, it’s a great place for a cup of coffee. I’m not sure I will be able to get any work down with this view though.”

“Oh, I don’t know. You will figure it out. Any who, I am off.  I will see you later. Kiss the kids for me when they finally rise to wreck the day.”  He laughed as he strolled out the front door.

I am most definitely going to need copious amounts of caffeine for today, everyone’s survival depends on it.

She strolled to the kitchen to take on the day.
