Chapter 5

Erika's POV

A bunch of men got out of the car and went toward the entrance, with two men in the lead, Charles and the man who was supposed to be the alpha of the Blood Moon Pack.

But he didn't look like a monster at all.

Actually, he was handsome. He even seemed quite debonair in the black suit and tie. Was he really the alpha of the Blood Moon Pack? It hardly seemed so. It was impossible to relate this man to a savage monster, but Charlie's respectful attitude said otherwise.

And he was indeed strong and tall. I bet he was more than six feet tall.

They began to exchange greetings. But I didn’t care what they were talking about. I heard that his name was Derek. It was a beautiful name. And his voice was husky and low.

As a fighter, when I met a stranger, I could immediately tell how many blows he could stand. But he seemed unfathomable.

As he walked closer, I saw his face clearly. He was so handsome that my heart pounded fast the instant I saw his face. It was for sure that I had never seen such a handsome man. His dark complexion made him so damn hot, while his brown curly hair that fell to the shoulder fit so well with his defined features. I liked his cleft chins so much that I couldn't take my eyes off him. Again, was he really the savage monster? If he was, he had such a conceptive face.

I tried to wake up my wolf who was still asleep. She would go wild when she saw the face.

Finally, he was in front of me and smiled at me. The curve of his lips made me fluster.

He was looking at me! It all happened so quickly that I didn’t have time to avert my gaze. Inevitably, our eyes met.

My heart began to pound.

Suddenly, I noticed that Charles was frowning. Yes, I must look so weird and I needed to do my work.

I lowered my head, trying to recover myself from the stupor.

However, Derek leaned toward me and didn’t stop until we were so close that I could feel his breath. I could smell vanilla. I stepped back a little and began to check them in.

Suddenly, I heard a low husky sound from above my head.

"Morning, my mate."

I lifted my eyes and looked at him in shock.

His mouth was already tightly shut. But I heard it. Everyone heard it and their jaws dropped.

The single word froze me on the spot.

Suddenly, he reached out his arm for me. I didn’t know what he wanted to do, but I hit his wrist with my elbow before he could touch me. He grimaced and withdrew his arm. I took the opportunity, stepped back, and got away from him until I felt safe.

The people present all turned around and looked at me with their eyes wide open. Charles' gaze shited between us and his mouth was wide open. Orsen was also at a loss. He knew that I would come over and make a scene, but Derek called me mate!Derek’s men were all alarmed at my movement. They quickly ran in front of Derek to protect him and glared at me, poised to attack me.

But the smile on Derek's face got larger. He flexed his arm that had been attacked by me, raised it up, and waved at his men. At his gesture, his men stepped back immediately.

So he could still raise his arm after the hard blow on his wrist. I thought he wouldn’t be able to raise his hand for at least one minute so that I could get rid of him. But it didn’t seem to make a difference.

I narrowed my eyes, trying to figure out the possibility of defeating him.

"Do you want to be Luna? That's way better job than working in a hotel," he said playfully.

What?

I didn't want to be a Luna and I was a Gamma!

And was he really my mate? He was handsome but I wouldn't be his damn mate!

I took off my gloves, clenched my fist, and threw a volley of daggers at Derek and his men.

"Erika! Why are you..." Poor Charles finally recognized me and pointed at me with a trembling finger.

Sorry, but fuck the cooperation and mate. I mind-linked him.

I immediately turned around and wanted to run in the opposite direction, however, my arms were grasped.

It was Derek!

How was that possible? He didn't give me any chance to escape. He held me in his arms and walked into the elevator.

My mind went bank. What should I do? Think, Erika!

Right, I mind-linked the soldier and asked him to cut off the power after one minute so that I could escape from the window.

"Yes," he replied.

As I expected, immediately after we entered the meeting room and Derek turned on the light, it was all dark again.

"What's going on?" Charles asked.

It was time. I jumped out of his arms and ran to the window. I wanted to shift into the wolf form so that I could smash the glass, but sadly, my wolf was still asleep.

Fine, I summoned a giant hammer.

However, when I was poised to smash the window, the light came back again.

Damn! It was not the plan. How was that possible?

Derek was already in front of me, fixing the hammer with one hand, which annoyed me because I had to hold it with two hands.

The triumphant smile on his face alarmed me. What did he do to get the light back?
