Chapter Two: Blue eyes

The silence in the house told me exactly what I wanted to hear.

I waited till everyone had gone to sleep, it was a crazy idea, and no one would have tolerated it anyway, so I had to be wise and do things on my own.

Immediately we put the laundry away, Father returned, and Amanda rushed to serve and attend to him while I sat there, consumed by my thoughts and plans to visit Mac.

I had gone over the idea about a million times in one night, yet I could not foresee it ending in a good way. It also gave me the perfect time to take some money for a cab.

After assessing the house from what I could hear, I climbed down slowly from the bed, thankfully Amanda was such a deep sleeper; it didn't matter the noise that was being made, nothing could separate her from her lovely sleep, and we were the only ones who shared a room with a window big enough to allow my tiny frame to pass through. I jumped into my freest pair of jeans and hoodie.

I needed the comfort first and then carefully, l let myself out through the window, making sure the stash of pillows under my duvet looked like something similar to my figure.

Immediately my feet hit the ground, and I broke into a run, guilty of not being caught; regardless I couldn't take the risk of exposure even now, and I didn't stop till I reached the bus stop.

It was going to be a long ride, and It didn't help that Mac lived on the rich side of town, miles from my comfortable abode, so after taking the bus, I had to hail a cab to take me into his family estate.

As we drove into the estate, I stared up at the tall and expensive buildings around; It was a posh estate, the kind that had perfectly manicured lawns and beautiful flowers sprawling everywhere; you would think the gardener worked all the time.

Blinding lights illuminated the dark, and the view of the fountain was breathtaking; everything about it screamed wealth and I couldn't help but think one day I was going to be the luna of this pack, it was surreal and yet striking. it filled my eyes with anticipation and water until reality seeped in; only if I could somehow convince Mac to feel something for me would all my dreams come true; otherwise, I would be just an abandoned wolf, left to live in her misery till the end of days, the thought haunted me, plagued me even as I stepped down from the car and walked to the front of the mansion before me where the butler was standing outside waiting,

“I'm here to see Mac” I smiled brightly at the butler. I was nervous, my palms were sweaty and my smile was too bright.

He was standing at the front of the large main building, the lights made him look even larger but he was an average-height middle-aged guy. .

He looked at me, from my oversized clothes to my unruly hair and I was sure he must have mentally scoffed, wondering what I had to see Mac for, looking like this, almost homeless. I was confident he didn't take me seriously. I needed to act fast.

“Errm, I'm his mate, so please inform him of my presence.” I tried to caution my smile but it only wavered. I expected his countenance to change so that he would begin to address me with more respect but his eye only widened, and he gave a curt nod. “Your name?”

“Fiona,” I rolled my eyes, and as if it were everyday women claiming to be Mac’s mate showed up at the doorstep, he only nodded and retreated into the mansion.

Not the right way to treat your future luna I thought, getting wayyy ahead of myself.

After a few minutes, he emerged, looking stern and well .... Without Mac, I let out a deflated sigh, and stared at him; surely it cannot be that bad right?

“I am sorry. He has requested that you come back at a later time” His face gave no emotions and I knew he could see all that he had just shattered my heart.

“Are you sure? Did you tell him it was Fiona? His mate?” desperate much fiona?

He sighed impatiently, “You forget that he can smell you, please don't make a scene, I would arrange for a driver to take you home in a few minutes” He walked briskly into the huge mansion leaving me out there in the cold with tears brimming the top of my eyes and a severely broken heart.

After 5 minutes of standing in the cold waiting for my ride, I decided that I wasn't going to let my efforts be in vain, I had come this far and I would not let anyone stop me from seeing Mac and gauging his reaction one more time.

I snuck to the back of the house and counted the rooms close to the left side, usually, the head of every house, which is his father, stayed at the right side, so I was almost certain that his room was at the left and I was sure it would be located at the middle, at the 5th room, luckily for me

There was a big tree standing a few feet from there and the wildest idea suddenly popped into my head.

I blinked twice and begged my inner wolf for strength before setting my foot on the first branch, I heard it creak, and my heart thundered violently as if just learning the dangerous thing I was about to do. I placed my left foot at a higher branch and cursed silently as my muscle flexed, my breathing was getting so loud, and I knew it was only a matter of time if I didn't speed things up; after a few minutes, I was able to climb to the top of the tree just beside the window, I pushed it with my hands and to my greatest surprise it was open. I let out a loud gasp.

Some part of my brain was warning me that I was missing something but I was too tired to care.

I took a long breath and jumped into the room. It was completely dark. He's probably fast asleep. I tiptoed my way into the centre of the room, trying to adjust my eyes to the complete darkness around me.

Once I reached what I thought was the centre of the room, I realised that the room was much bigger than I initially thought, I felt the hairs at the back of my neck begin to rise at the awareness of a presence, crap, I must have awoken him, My breathing came out shakily, I was suddenly so nervous as I waited for him to speak.

After a few minutes of breathing silences, I gathered the courage to spin around to where I could feel his piercing gaze on me, and when I looked, I saw the tiniest speck of blue eyes illuminate the dark room minimally.

I blinked, rubbing my eyes and shaking my head at the thought that I was dizzy from the climb and seeing things that weren't there, when I opened my eyes and looked again, this time the gaze was close and the view unmistakeable.

It was..... Blue eyes.

Wait, does Mac have blue eyes?
