Chapter 7

One week quickly passes and Michael returns to his office while Evelyn is still stuck at home as her resumption is in two months. 

But she is happy that Michael is not around as she do her work with peace of mind.

Evelyn works as an intelligence analyst at one of the most secret top intelligence organizations in the world. She started coding at a very young age and had a flair for it. 

When she went to study in London, one of the chiefs in the organization noticed her talent and recruited her into the organization. She has been in the organization for seven years and she is known to be one of the best hackers not only in the organization but also in the world.

She is known as hacker K, and she has worked with governments, militaries and big organizations, but her face is not known. Nobody from her family knows or notice that she is more that she looks, they all think that she is useless and a leech.

Evelyn is very busy and receiving several calls from the people in her agency, she was even too busy to eat. Suddenly she receives a call, she sees that it is her mother in calling. She quickly picks up the call.

“Good afternoon Mother.” She greets her mother in law.

“Good afternoon Evelyn. Are you busy? Michael told me that you are going to at home all day. Don’t you feel bored?”

“Yes, I am at home. I am going to be home until I resume school.”

“Let us go shopping. Come with me.” “Ok Mother.”

“I will tell my drive to drive to your place. I will be there in the next thirty minute. So be ready.” She says and hangs up

Evelyn quickly goes to dress up and prepare. In thirty minutes, she hears a honk and someone came to inform her that her mother in law was around. Evelyn quickly goes outside and enters the car.

She greets her mother in law. “Good afternoon Mother.”

Her mother in law smiles at her. “We are going to be going to a lot of places so prepare your mind” Hearing what she said, she suddenly had an ominous feeling.

Two hours later, her mother in law was still dragging her around and making her try a lot of clothes. She feels very tired but she does not want to spoil her fun. Her mother in law excuse was that she was going to resume school soon and that she did not want her to feel inferior especially since she was a fashion design major.

After shopping for like 4 hours, Madam Andrews finally felt tired and took her to restaurant to eat. After ordering their food, Evelyn got to know that Madam Andrews was allergic to seafood. They start eating. Suddenly, a madam sees them and approaches them.

“Oh my goodness, who is this? Hello madam Andrews, it is been a long time.” She greets her but with a hidden mocking glint in eyes.

Evelyn knows the woman, she is Madam Lawrence. The Lawrence family is not in par with the Andrews family but they are also a very wealthy family. She is obviously not in good terms with her mother in law, this might be due to the rumors that Michael’s father was originally supposed to marry Madam Lawrence but feel in love with the current Madam Andrews.

“Good afternoon, Madam Lawrence. It has really been a while” Madam Andrews says perfunctorily.

“Oh, is this not your new daughter in law? I heard that the Hawkins family swapped out the original bride is that true? That is so sad.” She says with mocking concern.

“Yes that happened but I will say it’s for the best, I mean we love our current daughter in law.” Madam Andrews says holding Evelyn’s hand while Evelyn smiles gratefully. This is the first time that someone has stood up for her.

Madam Lawrence just sneers, “I mean I don’t blame them. How is your son face and leg? I mean there is be a doctor willing to help. You can ask for our help anytime you need it.” She says mockingly

Madam Andrews visibly becomes angry that Madam Lawrence brought her son into the matter. “Madam Lawrence, I will advise to mind your speech, I mean it is the chairman of Andrews group of company you are talking about like that, you must have forgotten that with a flick of his finger he can destroy the Lawrence group of industries but because of our long term friendship I will let in slide.” Madam Andrews says coldly but elegantly.

“I am sorry if I said something wrong, I will leave now.” Madam Lawrence says and hurriedly leaves

“People like that, you don’t have stress about them. Our family is rich enough to teach them a lesson, so don’t waste your energy on them.” Madam Andrews tells Evelyn. Evelyn nods in response.

After eating, Madam Andrews pays for the food and suddenly remembers. “Let us go to another store, we have not gotten shoes. How can we forget about it?” Madam Andrews says and drags her into another store before she can say anything.

She starts to try different types of shoes and as soon as she says she likes one she immediately pays for it. As she was trying on the shoes, she sees her step mother enter the store.

“What kind of bad luck is this?” Evelyn thinks.

As soon as she sees them, she runs towards them. “Oh my god, Madam Andrews. It is pleasure to see you here. I see that you are here with my daughter.”

“Madam Hawkins, it is also good to see you. I mean I had to bring Evelyn here, most of the clothes she had were old. It makes me wonder when despite being from a wealthy family; she still wears those old clothes.” Madam Andrews says coldly

“Um….. It is not really our fault Madam. Evelyn is too modest and she does not go out a lot so she does not really need those new clothes. If she had asked, I would have definitely given it to her.

“I don’t think your daughter needs to ask before you give her.”

“Yes Madam, I understand.” Step mother says ashamed and angry, but she can’t say anything.

“By the way Madam, have you finally found your daughter?” Madam Andrews says looking at her intently.

“No.. No Madam, we have still not found her, we looking for her seriously.” Step mother stutters

“And you are here to shop, I guess you are just built differently, if it was my daughter I would search all over the earth to fine. But, well I hope you find her soon. You know that you are now our in laws, so if you need any help to find her just tell us, we will try our best to help you.” Madam Andrews says mockingly

“Thank you for help, Madam” Step mother says but on a closer look we can see that her fists are clenched tight.

Madam Andrews looks at the salesperson, “I think that will be all. Pack them all and send the Andrews residence.” She says after paying for it and walked out after paying for it.

Throughout the whole interaction, Evelyn did not say anything just admiring her mother in law and her step mother also behaved like she was air.

“Thank you for your help, Mother” Evelyn thanks her

“You don’t need to thank me, I hate hypocritical people.” Madam Andrews replies

They enter the car and the driver drives to Michael’s manor, she says goodbye to her mother inlaw and goes inside with several bags.
