Chapter 3

Trio aged 10…

It was a few years since I had seen his angry red eyes watching me although I had not seen him since I was eight when I was at the base with Colton and Destin I still had that eerie feeling of being watched in time and Colton’s comforting words I learnt to live with that feeling and pay no attention to it. Today included the twins and I were on the first platform before the second set of stairs leading to the tree house cottage. It was a nice spring day so the boys bought down the fishing gear and were fishing into the stream from the first floor platform it was one of the few things they enjoyed to do fishing was not a big wolf thing but the boys liked it even though they didn’t catch much. I was bored reading a book when a sudden thought came to mind I put my book down.

“Let’s play chasey Im bored I don’t want to fish or read I want to run so how about a game of chasey”

Colton did not look interested in such a game but Destin had that crooked smile of his plastered on his face.

“Let’s up the stakes shall we what about a game of kiss chasey.”

I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest not very amused with his statement.

“and what makes you think I want to play kiss chasey with you”

Colton soon interjected

“your so gross Destin what makes you think I want to run around and kiss you weirdo”

Destin literally bent over in laughter at a very confused Colton.

“Dear brother as much as I would like you to kiss me that is not how the game goes. Faith here gets five minutes to hide then we go hunt for her whoever finds her first has to catch and kiss her and they will be declared the winner” Destin says with wiping the tears of laughter from his eyes.

“Ohh that makes sense I guess” Colton says with a nervous rub behind his neck.

“Who said I want to play kiss chasey with you anyway”

“Well you never said you wouldn’t, what’s the matter princess are you chicken” Destin replies while making chicken noises at me in a mocking manner.

“FINE five minutes not peeping or cheating”

Colton looks shocked at my agreement and a little nervous while Destin has a smug satisfied look upon his face.

I waste no time and start heading down the tree houses steps and take off running to moment my feet hit the floor. With the adrenaline coursing through my body I forget all about the that feeling in the pit of my stomach. I had a plan to keep running a little further down the stream and slide into the water in the shallow to get rid of my scent to throw the boys off my scent. I get into the stream and quietly submerge myself under the water. The adrenaline pumping through my body as I resurface I hear Destin yell “two minutes to go pucker up” I forgot myself I climbed out of the other side of the stream and took off running into the woods I find an old hollow tree that I squeeze myself into. It wasn’t long before I heard the leaves and twigs crunching under the weight of the approaching boy. I’m caught and I know I’ve been caught I wonder which twin will steal my first kiss. I hear the foot steps in front on the hollow tree I’m hiding in and I feel both nervous and excited when I hear the whispered words “I found you” my heart rate quickens as I hear those words because I know that it is neither Colton or Destin who said them. I come out of the tree and want to run as fast as I can back to the base but the second I get out of the tree I’m faced down with none other than the owner of those angry red eyes. Today staring at me is not the pair of angry red eyes but the regular ocean blue eyes of the obsidian pack heir chase.

I am midway through explaining I had accidentally crossed over to their border while playing a game but was cut off with his lips pressed firmly against mine. I am completely shocked and frozen unsure if this is truly happening to me right now until I push him off me.

“What the hell are you doing Chase”

“Playing kiss chasey I will give you two minutes to get back onto your border because if I catch you again you will get another kiss” he winks at me and I waste no time a run back towards the stream to cross back over to my pack lands. Chase plays dirty he doesn’t wait the two minutes like he said he would before calling out “ I love a good chase princess” I don’t look back I just keep running praying to the moon goddess I beat him back to the stream. As I’m approaching the stream I realise I’m no longer at the shallow end and I pause to assess my options when chase comes up behind me and before I can process my actions I automatically slip into warrior training mode I wait until he is close enough before I grab him and flip him half expecting to flip him on his back but he lands straight in the creek.

Chases arms are flailing around like a mad man and his bobbing up and down in the flowing water screaming that he can’t swim in between before he finally slips under the water completely and doesn’t resurface. I waste no time and dive into the stream and into the water after a few dives I find his body pull him back up to the surface and hold him up against me and let the stream carry us a little further up the stream into the shallow. When I can stand I drag chases body onto our side of the border his not breathing. Colton and Destin come running after hearing the commotion as I start cpr on chase. They are both panicking saying something what exactly I do not know as I’m too focused on chase to hear what they are saying I can see Colton clearly stressed pacing pulling at his hair. As I put mouth to chases to breath down his airway while counting he suddenly comes too and says “ wow two kisses in one day faith you are keen” he then starts spluttering and coughing the water out his mouth I just roll him on his side and march off to the base knowing Delilah put a spell using our blood on the base no one other than ourselves or bloodline can cross her barrier I will be safe there. With me cheeks heated anger and embarrassment ever so present I run back to the tree house. Nothing gets past Destin because he is hot on my heels screaming “what is he talking about faith what does he mean two kisses in one day” I ignore him and keep heading towards the treehouse I do not want to hear it from Destin right now this silly game was his idea in the first place. The next thing I know Colton my sweet Colton has my upper arm in his grip and spins me to face him “what did he mean faith” Colton has that calming effect on me and as much as I don’t want to talk about it right now I look down at my feet and whisper “chase found me first, my first kiss stolen by chase” i meekly look back up Colton looks as though he has seen a ghost mouth open unable to say a single word. Destin on the other hand growls turns around and runs back in the direction of chase while repeating “I’m going to kill him” repeatedly both Colton and I shake off and run after Destin who is now on a murderous rampage. We catch up to him to find him standing alone where we left chase who is long gone. Destin yells off into the woods “I’m going to kill you chase for kissing our girl” we all hear a chuckle come from the other side of the stream but chase is no where to be seen. For the second time in my life Destin takes my hand in his while Colton take my other into his hand and we walk back home like that.
