Chapter Ten

Maya’s POV

The cab pulled over at the address that Jasper had given me for the party. Immediately I exited the car, the strong stench of alcohol and smoke hit my nose.

"You can keep the change," I told the driver before quickly turning to survey the house. It was an old apartment, much bigger than I expected but people were packed everywhere, gathered in cliques like pieces of furniture and getting their hands on anything they could get.

Compared to the girls who I saw wearing trendy dresses, halter tops, and heels, I looked completely out of place with my jeans and lacy top.

"This is a bad idea." My throat was suddenly dry as I stared at the apartment. I was not the party type, no, but I needed to get along with people here. I needed to walk down the hallway on campus without receiving curious stares from people. I needed to fit in and there was no way to do so other than a little party.

Even though I knew I would spend half of the night sulking in the corner
