Chapter 44_Banters

Ava's POV

The maid brought in a tray of sumptuous meals for dinner. It's been days now and I haven't seen Drex in the room.

I have not even been allowed to go outside the room. According to Mrs. Donovan, the young master has instructed them not to let anyone in and never allow her to step outside the house.

"Food is ready ma'am" the young maid announced, setting the food down on the table beside the bed.

I was lying on my stomach facing the other side. I turned my head toward her direction. The smell of grilled beef wafted through my nose.

My stomach rumbled in excitement. "Thank you," I said to her. She nodded and left immediately.

Once she was gone I jumped out of bed and attacked the tray of food. Minutes later, the tray was half-empty.

I gulped a glass of water, feeling quite full.

Just when I was about to pick up the napkin, I heard the door knob creak, then the door turned open.
