Chapter 6 Desmond

After my divorce, I wanted to keep the house, but I decided to sell it and Gabriel and I could split the profits. There were just too many memories and I wanted a fresh start, so I decided to start looking for a nursing job in a different city and state. It took about six months for the house to sell. During those six months, I was offered a job.

I needed to leave this godforsaken town and have a fresh, brand-new start. Then I got that call from Dayton Community Women's Clinic here in Ohio with great pay and excellent benefits. I don't start my new job until next week. Now I am in my hotel room wondering if I should order in or go out to eat. Then I decided, heck, why not go out to eat?

Now here I am driving around town in a new city looking for the best place to eat. I googled the nearest restaurant to the hotel I was staying at, it was about a thirty-minute drive. The restaurant is called Flow. From what I read, it got 4.5 stars out of 5. Now that is a place I would like to go to. So, what I did was that I dressed up and went out by myself. That's right, I decided to date myself for a little after everything that I have been through. If any of you have a problem with that, oh well!

I get to the restaurant, park my car, and go inside. I have to say that the decor is excellent, fine dining at its best. Not only that, but I see the hostess, and she asks me to table for one. Yes, it is just me, I'm new here. Oh, where are you from? The hostess asked. I am from Springfield, Missouri. Well, welcome to Dayton, Ohio. Thank you, I said.

Can I get you started with something to drink? Yes, what would you recommend? Well, normally I would recommend Piño Gregorio. But see you just moved here, and you are by yourself. I wouldn't want anything to happen to you. I would say that Merlot would probably suit your taste. Okay, then I can start with some water. Of course, here is your menu. Once she is gone, I breathe a sigh of relief.

A few minutes before she comes back with my water and I get out my phone to see that I have received text messages from my mom, aunt, and my best friend Kate. They are all asking me if I have made it to the state of Ohio yet. I sent them a group text telling them that I am fine and yes, I did make it.

What are you doing right now? Well, I am at this restaurant called Flow that I looked up. G****e recommended it. It is owned by a man named Desmond Greene. Oh my, I have heard of him, Sally says. Yep, he is tall, dark, and handsome with light eyes. He is also single too, have you met him yet? No, I just got here and sat down. I told them. All I have to say is watch out because he is a looker.

At that moment is when the server comes with my water. I have to go now. Bye, all. The server said my name is Juan and are you ready to order? Yes, I will take the grilled chicken with the roasted asparagus and tomatoes and a tossed green salad with Italian dressing. If you don't mind, may I see the wine menu? Of course, Miss, I will be right back. Juan comes back with the wine menu and tells me he is going to put my order in. Okay, thank you.

Twenty minutes later, my food comes, I smell it and my stomach does a gigantic growl. I blush a little because of it. Juan sets my food on the table, then smiles at me. Juan asks for your wine, Miss? Um, I would like the Pink Zinfandel. Alright, I will bring it out shortly.

The moment he was gone, I started digging into my food, and I couldn't help but moan at how delicious it was. Here is your wine, Juan had poured a little for me to taste the wine. I asked him to go ahead and pour me a glass because it was exquisite, thank you so much. “You're welcome,” then my server was about to leave. Please give my compliments to the Chef and the owner. I will do that right away, ma'am.

Before I knew it, while, I was still eating my food. The Chef comes out or at least I think he is the chef because he was fine, when I say fine, I mean make me want to drop my panties fine. He looked tall, with tan skin, and beautiful hazel eyes. Hello, he says I am Desmond Greene, the Chef and owner of this fine establishment. Hi, I am Ms. Maddison Wong, well nice to meet you Ms. Wong, and one of my servers, told me that you liked the food. Oh yes, I love the food. Thank you for the compliment. “You're welcome.”

Desmond – So I am told that you are new to the city.

Maddison – Not only that, but I am new to the city and the state.

Desmond – Well, I am glad that you are here and the first place you chose to visit was my restaurant.

Maddison – Yes, I was on my way to my new place, but got hungry and G****e said that this was the best restaurant in the city.

Desmond – So tell me what do you think of my restaurant?

Maddison – Well it's very elegant, and the decor is good too, and you have soft music going which makes it relaxing.

Desmond – Well, I do aim to please my customer, and you go ahead and enjoy yourself, Mrs. Wong.

Maddison – That's Ms. Wong!

Desmond – Well, in that case, since you're new in town, how about you come back on Friday and have dinner with me? Say 7:00 pm?

Madison – Well aren't you presumptuous Mr. Greene

Desmond – Oh no, please call me Desmond

Madison – Okay Desmond it is then, and I will see you on Friday at 7:00 pm

I called my friend Sally back after paying the bill and told her that I just met the owner of this restaurant. You were not lying either, he is fine as this time that I am drinking right now. “Didn't I tell you he was a looker?” Yes, you did mention that to me, but I had no idea he would look like that. Did I forget to mention that he asked me to come back on Friday night for a free complimentary meal?

I hope that you said yes to that, Sally asks me. Of course, I did. Do you think I'm going to pass up a free meal even if the owner is fine? I just may have a good time this weekend. It has been a while since I've been on a date, even though I was asked out by the owner of the restaurant. “Come on, you know you need this after everything that Gabriel has put you through.” She started.

You're right, I do need this, it couldn't hurt to get to know this man. Even though, I feel as if we have met before. I don't know, maybe it is just my mind playing tricks on me. Anyway, how are you doing, Sally? I'm doing very well. I have some good and bad news. No, I am kidding, there isn't any bad news, but I do have some good news. What is that? “How do you feel about being the godmother to my baby in the next six months?”

“Oh my goodness, are you certain?” Yes, we're sure we got the news from the doctor yesterday. That is great congratulations. “Thank you.” We are thrilled. I am only telling you this because you are my best friend, I want to be knowledgeable. Jason has asked Gabriel to be the Godfather to our child as well. That's fine, and he should be, they have been friends since freshman year of high school, so it is only natural for him to ask.

Friday night came, before I knew it, and I had just gotten out of the shower. I decided to put on a matching set of lingerie, just in case things go well. If things don't go well, though, I have no problem coming home to my trusty battery-operated friend. Put on my light pink dress, and it matches my skin tone, with three-inch white heels with straps, my hair is curled past my shoulders. Then I do some light makeup of lip gloss, mascara, and some eyeshadow. I look good when I look at myself in the mirror. In other words, I was dressed to knock his socks off, and I mean that literally. Cannot wait to see the look on his face.

My only concern was when I kept thinking about him. He seemed familiar to me. I just couldn't place where I knew him from. Oh well, I said to myself I will put that thought in the back of my mind for now.
