Chapter 7 Desmond's Asks For A Real Date

When I arrived at the restaurant, Flow at 7:00 p.m. I'm greeted by the same hostess with a smile who sat at a table the first time I was here. Desmond has been waiting for you, she says. He has reserved a table just for you, Ms. Wong. Oh, I say, how kind of him to do that. She takes me back to a small area, which, I assume, is for the VIPs. I take a seat and the hostess leaves, but I never did quite catch her name either. She comes back with a glass of red wine and a seafood appetizer. Excuse me I say, I don't mean to be rude, but can I get your name, please? My name is Izzy, she says. Is it short for Isabella and she replies yes? Well, nice to meet you, Izzy.

Then I tell her that she is doing a fantastic job as a hostess. Thank you, is there anything else that I can get you? No, not right at this moment. Alright, just let me know I will be your server as well tonight since we're short on staff. I'll be right back with your food, better yet, Mr. Greene will bring the food out to you himself.

Twenty minutes later, Desmond comes out with two plates in his hand. There was a juicy medium well-done steak, roasted red potatoes, and salad. The server behind him was carrying a bottle of my favorite wine, Pink Zinfandel, which just so happened to be the glass of wine I ordered a couple of nights ago. He puts my plate in front of me and then sits on the other side of the table. I see you remembered the kind of wine that you like. Well, Madison, how can I forget someone drinking wine like that who is just as beautiful as you are? I end up blushing at his compliment.

Once he sat down, and before I started to dig in, I asked him, do you make a habit of getting to know all of your customers? Yes, I do, but I just wanted to get to know you a bit more and give you a tour of our city. Oh my goodness, this is so delicious as I moan. Well, I'm glad that you are enjoying my food, especially since I made it myself. You are very talented, I say. “Thank you.”

Madison, tell me what brings you to the city of Dayton, Ohio? Well, I usually don't tell people this right off the bat, but since you were enough to feed me, I will tell you. I recently got divorced after being married for five years. I was going to school for my BSN in Nursing but with a minor in literature. My ex-Gabriel didn't like the fact that I wanted to get to work for a bit, before starting a family. He wanted us to have kids right away after we got married.

I wanted to wait until after I had my foot in the door as a nurse. “How old were you when you two married?” I was twenty-one and he was twenty-three. It was a small intimate wedding with 50 guests, close family, and friends. We had a wonderful reception as well. Then a couple of years into the marriage, he wanted to start a family. I told him that I wasn't ready yet. I thought he was waiting for me to be ready and as I am getting my nursing career going, I find out that he has been unfaithful to me for the last six months of our marriage. Right then and there, I decided to divorce him and move on with my life. Now he gets to have what he always wanted: a family from the beginning.

Well, I have to say that he was stupid for letting a young, talented, and beautiful woman go, and doing what he did was the stupidest move a man could have done. If you were my woman, I would have waited until your nursing career was off to a good start, then work on starting a family. Thank you for that, but I just want to focus on myself right now and my career.

Okay, now how about some dessert, he says. It depends on what kind of dessert you have in mind. I was thinking maybe dessert to go and having it back at my place, he says. As much as I would love to go to your place, I will not do that since this is our first date and I don't do anything on the first date, but perhaps kiss. Still will take that dessert to go, I have to start my first shift at the women's clinic tomorrow.

Before I go, may I ask you a question? Sure, what is the question? Why do I get this strange feeling that we have met before? Have we met before? I wondered when you were going to ask. “Yes, we have met before.” What, when, and how? Well, we met about six months ago in my bar in Springfield, Missouri. You were drunk, so you probably don't remember. However, I was bartending the night you came in. You were with your friend, whom I assume was your designated driver. Then you decided to send her home because you wanted to get revenge on your husband at the time for sleeping with his secretary and if I recall, you said that he had gotten her pregnant.

Oh my goodness, that explains why you looked familiar to me, even though I was drunk at the time. Did we do anything? Yes, we spent the night together in your husband's office, but you might remember me by my bartender's name that I go by, which is Leon. You're the Desmond Leon Greene! You are one of the most famous bartenders and restaurant owners in all of Missouri. Well, now I am here in Ohio, managing my new restaurant.

By the way, how is that ex-husband of yours? We were still asleep when he walked in and saw us together. He is still upset about that and at me for taking half of what he owns. He tried to hide financial assets from me and a beach house. However, I did get those after hiring a Private Investigator. “Now I am the one who is impressed.” He stated.

Well, would it be too soon for me to ask you out on another date? No, I say, and here is my number and give me a call when you're not too busy with your restaurant. At that time, the server had come with my dessert to go, and I got up to leave. I hope to hear from you soon, Desmond, and give him a kiss goodnight on the cheek. That's when I left the restaurant knowing that I needed some, but didn't want to seem too desperate about it. Well, it looks like it will be me alone with my friendly battery-operated friend.

I drove myself home, thinking that maybe I should have taken him up on his offer. Then again, I would rather not seem desperate, besides I had made it a rule not to never give it until after the first few dates. I'm talking about potentially ten or twelve dates. Then I thought to myself, do I want to use my battery-operated friend when there is a handsome and available guy that wants to get to know me better? However, I am in a new state and hopefully, he will call me at least for a second date. It would be nice to have someone show me around the city.

I get home and park in my garage and grab my dessert bag. Open the garage door, and I am home, and it feels good. Then I decided to go run a bubble bath for myself and I put some vanilla oil and lavender in it. Vanilla mixed with lavender always seems to calm me, especially with a glass of wine as well. Nothing like relaxing in the tub and drinking wine. Plus, I have my rechargeable battery-operated friend with me and it is waterproof. Always enjoyable to relieve some tension in the tub.

The water temperature in the tub was perfect. I slipped in there and relaxed, along with my friend, some candles on the sink, and a wine glass near me. Things we do when we don't want to be that desperate woman. It felt so wonderful just to sit and relax, until I started thinking about Desmond and all the things I would like for him to do to me again. Then I slipped my friend in me and started imagining it was him. Oh my, yes Desmond, right there you are rocking my world. It wasn't long before I had finished myself off and drank my wine. I stepped out of the tub, dried myself off, went into my room, and lay on my bed looking up at the ceiling.

I can believe that you ran into the same person you slept with almost a year ago, she says. Yep, I certainly did and I couldn't believe it myself either. So, did he ask you out on an official date? I was shocked to find out that I had already slept with him one time. It was hard for me to remember, since I was plastered the last time. This time, when he calls me for a second date, I will be sober and ready to show him my skills in the bedroom. Desmond had called me a week later to set up another date. This time I am going to be drunk. I know what I want to happen on this date.

I decided to call my friend Sandy after I got in my car to tell her what happened. I let it ring a few times before she answered. Hello. Hi, Sandy you will never guess what happened? What happened? Remember, that restaurant I told you about and looked up the owner. Yes, I remember that. Well it turns out that he is the same owner that owns Desmond's bar in Missouri. He is the person I slept with almost a year ago.

Wow, that is crazy so are you going to go on an official date with him? Sandy asks me. Yes, I am I responded back. This time I will be sober and know what I am doing. Oh, I can't believe you're going to go out on a date with a famous owner of his restaurant. I know I can't believe it either. I am so excited about this as well I tell her. Well I hope you have lots of fun on your next date. This time you can see how he feels sober. Sandy!!!!
