Chapter 5: Do not let her qualify to the next stage!

Having said that Mirabel took a sneaky peek in order to see Oliver's reaction but she only saw him smiling and replying with an 'Oh' which made her feel disappointed for some unknown reason.

Meanwhile, Oliver was already planning on how he was going to delay this annulment.

With a sad face, he looked at Mirabel and said, "I have a little favour I would like you to help me with."

"As long as it is within my power I will try," Mirabel replied.

"You see, I'm not from this country and right now I lost my passport and it will take maybe 3 days or even a week for one to be given to me and right now I don't have any place to stay during that period, can I stay here?"

Oliver stood while waiting for her reply, he was fully ready to make Mirabel a Mrs. Oliver by the end of his stay here and because of that he told his assistant Jace to return and if anyone was to ask why he didn't follow let him make up some lues and cover it up.

Especially his grandfather, he warns Jace excessively to not tell his grandfather anything about Mirabel.

How should he say it? His grandfather has always wanted him to marry someone from the high class, one of those arrogant heiresses and if he were to find out that his grandson was in love with a nobody and orphan he knew it would turn into another drama.

'Is he kidding me? Why would he want to stay in my place by lying he is poor? The last time I checked he was taking an expensive drink back then in the clubhouse and also his posture shows he must be someone influential or is he falling for me and using that opportunity to stay with me? (Scoff) in my dreams.'

"Okay if you say so, you can stay as long as you want, just know I can't feed you also I have a favour to ask you of," Mirabel replied, for some unknown reason she felt happy that they would get to spend a week or so with each other before leaving.

"Sure, sure ask."

"I will be going to another city for a singing competition will you accompany me?" She asked while looking at Oliver with a hopeful gaze.

"Well, I..."

"Please I really need someone there, my friend is MIA (missing in action) and you're the only one I know aside from her."

"Alright I will come with you, it will be fun watching a beauty like you sing."

His words only serve to make Mirabel avoid eye contact with him as her cheek turns red.

[Besides this will be good for me, if she can sing well I will buy one of the biggest entertainment industry and sign her there, make her the face of the company and push her higher to the point grandpa won't be able to say no when I bring her. No matter what her dream is I will support her since it feels like my heart beat only for her."

'That was exhausting.' Jeff thought as both he and Mirabel headed towards the avenue where the competition would be held.

For the first time in his life, he had to climb a bus and to tell the truth he didn't enjoy the ride one bit and even told Mirabel that he wanted to rent a car but she was adamant and claimed they don't have the funds for it.

What else can he do but endure the torturing ride?

After reaching the venue Mirabel couldn't help but feel nervous she saw over 1,700+ people and all of them were there to participate!

After which he joined the line of people that were there to register.

"This line is too long Mirabel I think it will be midnight before it even reaches your turn. Wait I will be back." Oliver said and Wales towards where everyone were registering leaving Mirabel confused.

Shortly he returned with an ID card and a printer number.

"I got it now turn around let me fix it on you."

Feeling shocked, Mirabel could only turn.

"There you go, set and ready."

Mirabel opened her mouth to ask only to close it, she was nervous to ask and could only suppress her curiosity.

Shortly one of the attendees led Mirabel towards the backstage for the competition while Oliver moved towards the VIP section.

Mirabel while waiting for her turn couldn't help but recall how easily it was for Oliver to get the ID for her

'who is he? Did he know someone there? Why was he pretending to be poor? What's his intention?

Sigh, when I'm through with this I will have to face him. For now, let's concentrate on this competition, this is my future.'

Soon it was her turn to sing, and with a bit of nervousness, Mirabel climbed the stage.

"What's your name miss?" The the judges asked her.

"Mirabel Leonard." She replied with her sweetest smile.

"Age?"

"19"

"Ever been in such competition?"

"No ma'am."

"What song will you be singing for us tonight?"

"I will be singing Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley my all-time favourite," Mirabel answered with a sweet smile.

"Okay then and best of luck." The judge replied.

~Wise men say

Only fools rush in

But I can't help falling in love with you

Shall I stay?

Would it be a sin

If I can't help falling in love with you?

Like a river flows

Surely to the sea

Darling, so it goes

Some things are meant to be

Take my hand,

Take my whole life, too

For I can't help falling in love with you...~

Oliver was lost in her wonderful song, not only him but the judges and audience too.

'Not good, this is not good! If she qualifies for the next stage I'm not sure how things will turn out I need to act fast.' Thinking so he hurriedly called his

assistant Jace Denson. "Hello Jace, I need you to do me a favour, I don't want Mirabel to qualify for the next stage."
