Chapter Two

*Eighteen years later*

Luna rocks anxiously in her chair, while knitting a dress. Rora watches out the window. Jolene is sixteen and this year's full moon will be the one that unleashes her inner wolf. Every spell they’ve ever had put on her, will be broken. They will no longer be able to protect her.

Rora suddenly Jumps up in excitement, and spins around nearly shouting, “ he’s here! Alice is here!”

Luna jumps out of her chair so fast that the chair goes flying backwards. Neither of them take the time to acknowledge it. They are too busy running to the door to greet their guest.

Jolene brings him into the house. They are arm in arm and giggling about something. Rora snatches him from her so fast, Jolene makes a gulping noise.

Luna tends to her, “It’s business my love. You know how auntie Rora gets!”

Jolene nods excessively, “Oh yes!”

They laugh and Luna encourages her, “Why don’t you go play outside and I’ll go make sure she doesn’t make the man feel uncomfortable.”

She winks at Jolene, but Jolene huffs, “I am not a child!”

She storms off, leaving Luna to roll her eyes.

Luna walks into the room just in time to witness Rora getting upset. She starts to pay around her room, ranting and raving and talking to herself. Luna takes her seat next to Alice and gives him a quick side hug. Placing her head slightly on his shoulders.

He pats her head with his hand and whispers, “It’s good to see you.”

He forces a smile and replies, “ it’s good to see you, too old friend. I just wish it was under better circumstances.”

He nods and then whispers, “I can’t help her after her wolf shows herself to her. At that point, there will only be one person who can save her…”

Rora is irritated, but hopeful as well when she cuts him off, “ what do you mean someone can save her? You told me that you couldn’t help her but you never mentioned that there was someone who can help her?”

She pauses, and then shouts, “WELL, WHO IS IT?”

Luna put her hands up to stop her, “He’d tell you if you would just give him a chance to speak.”

Alice doesn’t waste time, “She needs to find her soulmate!”

Both girls groan, He jumps in shock. Luna gives him an apologetic look..

Rora on the other hand, goes off into another rant, “That’s not helpful. There’s no guarantee that her soulmate is even born yet!”a

Alice is apologetic. Luna walks him out, leaving Rora deep in her thoughts.

Jolene walks into the room and hugs Rora, “Don’t worry about me. I don’t know who you are so scared of, but I am safe.”

Rora pulls away in shock, “How do you?”

Jolene is careful as she admits, “I can read minds.”

Rora is confused, “How?”

Jolene shrugs, “I’m not 100% sure, but I have something called a wolf?”

Rora is shocked, “That’s impossible. She’s not supposed to make an appearance until after your first shift.”

Jolene shakes her head, “I hear her talking to me and she can hear your thoughts, but she only tells me what she wants me to hear”

Rora grabs Jolene by her arm and pulls her out to Alice and Luna. Once again she goes into a rant. Telling them everything that Jolene told her. Alice encourages that they go into the house.

When they get into the house, they sit down and they talk. This is very unusual. They all agree that Jolene has got to be one of the most powerful werewolves in the history of werewolves.

Alice tells some of the story, “A long time ago there was a boy. His parents had died while he was a baby. He grew up in the human world. He was sad and lonely, and his werewolf came out early to protect him. He was known as the most powerful werewolf in the history of werewolves. The only one to have had his werewolf before it was his time. He is the werewolf king.”

Jolene isn’t phased, “So it runs in the family?”

Alice is the only one who is puzzled and thrown off by her statement, “What do you mean runs in the family?”

Jolene states the obvious, “He’s my biological father, of course!”

Alice starts to freak out, “Are you kidding me? I knew you had to hide her from her father, but you didn’t tell me your father was the king of the werewolves! That’s a whole new side of crazy right there! I can’t believe you dragged me into this..”

He runs out the door but doesn’t stop running his mouth.

Rora starts to chant and their items start to pack themselves. Luna stares out the window, and watches Alice running away Jolene hugs her and watches with her.

Rora shouts, “It’s time to go before he comes back with an army!”

Jolene and Luna share dumb found looks.

Rora groans as she follows the floating boxes to the van and car. The other two trail behind her.

She irritatedly shouts, “I’m going to drive the van. You two can take the car!”

While they drive, Rora takes the time to come up with a plan. She leads them to the only person that she knows, who can predict the future. Maybe they can help find her soulmate.

*Two hours later*

Jolene fell asleep. Luna is fighting the urge to sleep. She reads a sign that says ten miles until town. This is when she realizes where they are going and she starts to panic.

Jolene groans, “Will you stop, please.”

Luna is confused, “Stop what?”

Jolene sighs, “My wolf is saying that you’re upset because you have to see an ex?”

Luna starts to cry, “Merlin was my husband, he cheated on me with my cousins. They are happily married and we are about to see them for the first time since then.”

Jolene lets out a shocked noise. She wants to ask questions, but her wolf tells her that it's not the time. She tries to comfort Luna by patting her on the shoulder. They continue to ride in silence.
