Chapter Ten - Saved

Chantelle POV

As Delcan asked me what was wrong, I tried to stay strong, but the emotions welled up inside me and I felt the tears begin to fall. I turned away, not wanting him to see me cry, but it was too late. He reached out to me, but I pulled away. "I'm sorry," I said, my voice breaking. "I just need to be alone." I turned and walked away, leaving him standing there, speechless. I hurried home, my heart pounding. As I approached the door, I could hear my uncle's angry voice. My uncle's voice calling out, "Where have you been? You weren't supposed to go out!" He sounded angry, and I knew I was in trouble. I braced myself as I opened the door, but what I saw next left me frozen in shock. A police officer was standing there, and my uncle was being handcuffed. "You're under arrest," the officer said. "You have the right to remain silent..." My uncle's eyes met mine, and I could see the fear in them. I had no idea what was happening, but I knew my life was about to change forever. My
