“Are you sure that we can hit a jackpot here, Chris?” Tara asked Chris who was sitting in the driver’s seat and Clark with hands on the steering wheel, “There’s a lot of people inside this hotel and today was a VIP event! How did you get a ticket to fill the entrance for us?” she added. Both of us are seating in the backseat.
I was also waiting for Chris to answer since I think about on asking him but Tara already did for me. The car we are riding was already parked in front of this huge hotel. I can’t see it’s name because it maybe was placed on the top part.
“Someone offered me a free VIP tickets,” Chris confidently said and looked at us from the back, “So I did not hesitate and accept his offer!” he exclaimed. My brows knitted while looking at him.
“Someone? Are you sure that we are safe if we do the stealing inside this hotel? There’s a lot of people here! Crowded! How about our scape route? Are you planning someone to make as a scapegoat?” I asked without taking off my eyes on Chris. He was also looking firmly at me, with confidence on his face. He was really sure about this.
“Don’t worry Dhara and Tara! Everything is settled,” Tara and I turned our gaze on Clark. His hands was on positioned to open the in front of him, “We just need to act and blend as one of them. You know, this hotel has a luxurious jewelries that cost of a million dollars. The advantage situation is that, there’s also cash inside this huge and grand hotel! We can hit two at a time! Isn’t that lovely?” he then opened the door and get out first.
“Both of you, where did you even get this kind of info?” Tara asked at Chris since Clark was already outside of the car.
“Is this from someone who offered you tickets for us?” I added.
“Chill ladies! Everything is fine. We’ve never been caught before, right?”
“Almost Chris!”
“It’s okay Gands. We got you! You are here and everything will be fine!” Chris said and wink at us before going out of the car. Tara and I were left looking at each other.
“Are you sure about this, GD?” Tara asked with worried. She calls me GD since she was lazy pronouncing my name. I shrugged.
“No Tara. I feel something bad about this,” I looked at my side while taking a peek on the window from outside, “It’s crowded. We don’t know about what will happen later and this kind of luxurious hotel with an ongoing private event will really have a lot of securities,” I added as I turned my gaze back to Tara.
Tara reached out for my hands and gently squeeze it. I can see the disapproval on her face about our men’s decision but we can’t disagree either. We are a gang and we should do everything in team. Since then, all of us used to these kind of things until we are grown up.
“Let’s just act like the way we used to. Look for the valuable things. Steal without getting caught. Let’s do it!” I nodded and we did not waste anytime and got ourselves out from the car.
“ZF Hotel? Sounds luxurious itself,” I mumbled as I adjusted the simple black dress I’m wearing that was above the knee.
“You look stunning with that simple yet elegant dress, GD. The color fits your gleaming hair and enhances your white skin. So lucky to have you as my co-thief and my friend!” I looked at Tara and she was smiling while firmly staring at me.
“Aren’t you bored? You are giving me the same words all over again. That enjoys you much, aye?”
“Yes! Haha, you are really gorgeous!”
“Is my gorgeousness that funny for you?”
“Nope.”
“Then let’s go. They are waiting,” I said and holds her hand then pulled her as I walk towards Chris and Clark that was waiting for us.
After Chris showed our tickets at the two guards in front of a double glass door, we marched ourselves inside the Hotel, “I will look from the last floor of this Hotel,” I volunteered to them when we are already inside the hotel’s first floor.
“Are you sure, GD? This hotel was a twelve floor and,” Tara said and she paused while turning her eyes in front, “there’s a lot of guests waiting for the elevator to become unoccupied; the six elevators are already occupied and if you want to be in the last floor, you need to use the stairs. Are you sure with that?” Tara’s long litany. I nodded.
“Did you forgot Tara? Dhara likes long ways. She loves to sweat herself when it comes to stealing!” Clark hissed in a low voice. I just throw him a bored look. The four of us was standing behind the guests in front who was waiting for the elevator to open for them.
“Gotta go!” I said and then immediately take my step out from their sight. When I was in front of the door, I did not hesitate to open it without minding the other people and then started my path on the long upright stair that will take me to last floor.
As I was walking alone, I can hear their chattering from below. A moment after, everything was quite and I can’t hear their voice coming from the first floor.
I wasn’t really born like this and being a thief is not my thing in the past. I was a person who lives far from the normal lives of people. I was doing these things to satisfy myself, not out of money but because I want to grant the life that I wanted to.
But wherever I go, I’m still carrying what life I have on my hands and who I am. Tara and the others didn’t know anything about the real me and I was keeping it away from them. We have known each other for a long time, almost five years; it was a year after my father died, but I never intended to tell them about who I am.
I shook off the thought inside my mind and after an hour, I already reached the last floor. I was panting while reaching for my breath and when I already calmed, I take my step inside the door in front of me.
A deafening silence greeted me. There is no doors here other than a large door at the end of where I was standing. I walked over and when I came across the door, I carefully opened it after scouting the area.
When I successfully entered the room, I gently closed the door and turned my gaze in front. My eyes immediately caught the stall with a glass box placed on top of it and there’s an object that was flashing from it towards my direction.
My heart was throbbing so fast but then, I take my steps in to the glass box. I stopped in front of it and stared. I can’t help but let the amusement claim my mind. Inside the glass box was a ring. The center stone was made of crystal, it explains the flashing earlier. It looks too simple with side stones but in reality, it already cost a thousand of dollars!
I positioned my hand to open the glass box in front of me. Chris was right! There’s a lot of jewelries that will satisfy me!
“Who are you? What are you trying to do?” a husky but deep voice suddenly break the silence inside the place I was currently in. His sudden words startled me. I immediately looked at my right where the voice came from.
A man with thick eyebrows and monolid brown eyes staring at me. He was throwing me intense look as if I did something that displeases him. I looked behind him and I did not notice the bed. Shit! I’m too focused in the thing inside the glass box.
“I’m stealing,” I said and then move my body away from the stall. I’m preparing myself to escape from this room.
“You really are a professional thief,” he said with a meaning then his sultry lips suddenly smile. When he was about to walk towards my direction, I sprinted out of the room and directly reached for the elevator. Thank God it was unoccupied!
While inside the elevator, I can feel my heart’s furious beating as I remembered the man’s face. What was that encounter? I was almost caught in the act!
“Welcome home, Young Miss.”“Where’s mother?”“She’s in the backyard, talking with her lawyer. What would you like to eat for dinner, Young Miss?”“Just anything. I will excuse myself,” the maid nodded, and then, I march myself taking the path to the backyard. When I got there, I saw my mother sitting on an item of garden furniture while confronting a man in his twenty’s. Probably a young lawyer that my mother hired for her estate planning. My mother seems to forge ahead on everything.“Hi, mom.”I greeted, making her face turned in my direction. When I approached her, I immediately kiss her on the cheek. She was wearing a black long sleeve tucked into her belted white jeans. Totally for crisp shirting.“Oh, sweetheart. What brings you here?”“
I stayed in the City for three days, and it’s been four days since I was back in Gale. When I was at my mother’s, I forgot about being a thief. I engraved being the only daughter of a late fearless soldier and an heiress of the legendary aerospace engineer.I was thinking about what my mother has said about telling my gang the truth. It’s a form of betrayal keeping my identity from them. I can risk our friendship, but it’s not yet the time for doing it.Other than that, it’s been a week since that incident happened when someone almost hooks me from stealing. My heart was raging from nervousness when I remembered the man’s face again. I shook my head and tried to pull those thoughts out of my head. But it’s already favorable on my side. I absconded from that room when I was almost seized and pressured the gang to abandon the hotel. I was relieved that they do so without any
My face crinkled in bewilderment about this man’s words. What is he talking about? “This luring style is productive, and I was victorious for you to fall into my hands,” he said while taking his steps closer to mine, “Those white hair of yours, I can’t help but confine them on my hands.” My right eyebrow rose as I stared at the man walking in my direction, “What are you saying? Are you mistaking me for someone?” I confusedly ask. My question was left unrefuted by the man who suddenly closed the gap between us. I was startled when he reached my jaw, pulling my face closer to him. “You are under suspicion, but I’m sure barking up the right sunflower.” “What do you want?” “You.” I quickly removed my face from his hands with my gaze open-mouthed. I tied my tongue and promptly turned away from his direction. I was abo
It’s been two days. I’m here inside our hideout, sitting in front of the table while facing a laptop. “This is the first time you’ve borrowed a laptop, GD. Where are you going to use that? ” Tara muttered behind me and felt her sitting next to me. I did not mind looking in her direction and opened the chrome; then, I let my fingers press the letters on the keyboard before the screen flashed someone’s information. “Zygo Fiernan?” Tara asked when her eyes landed on the laptop as I remained my face straight to the front, “You know him?” I shrugged while scrolling on the man’s profile, “Why are you having an interest in him then?” My hands stopped. I looked at Chris and Clark playing chess to our right before turning it over to Tara. “Can’t I just stalk him without having an interest?” She raised her right brow, shooting
“Hey, officer. Can I borrow a phone?” I asked the policeman who passed by while I was inside the jail. He ignored me and just kept walking.I’ve been incarcerated for three hours, and that antipathetic tycoon had left before I was put behind this jail. I was begging to borrow a phone, but they ignored me.I sighed and immediately left near the railings. Fortunately, I was the only one in the cell and have been standing until now, asking them a favor to lend me a phone.I swiftly sat down in the corner because I was already feeling tiredness in my body. While sitting at the corner, I pressed my palms together. I didn’t expect that man to actually do what he said. Is he that desperate?I don’t know how he got the arrest warrant, and I can’t do anything, especially since he showed them a video earlier as proof when the police interroga
“Good morning, sweetheart.”A familiar voice greeted me when I opened my eyes.I looked for my mother. She was standing in front of the enormous window and had just opened the closed cream-colored curtain.“How long have you been here?” I asked, still lying on the bed.“Can you hear your voice, sweetheart? You sound strained. How much did you spend drinking in a pub?” she asked, walking in my direction.“I just drank eight glasses of Roberta, mom. I’m not that intoxicated with alcohol,” I groaned when I tried to sit up from lying. My head hurt, and my back was in pain.“Then, do you know who brings you here?” I stared at my mother, who was walking towards me. She sat down next to me and swiftly stroked my hair.I tried to remember what happened
“Looks like your knight was at the right time, my damsel in distress.” I immediately stared at the face of the person next to me as he held the drunk man’s wrist. What is he doing here? “Who are you, asshole!” We both turned our gazes at the drunk man. “I’m her man,” the man beside me boldly said. He then released the drunk man’s hand forcedly, “Leave before my eyes cannot find the reason to spare you from touching my property.” My left brow raised as I turned my eyes again on the man beside me. “Excuse me?” I asked. He looks at me while grinning. “Are you okay?” “Don’t be so high on yourself, tycoon. I’m not your property. No one owns me.” “Well. No one also needs your permission. I can mark everything I want,” this tycoon said and then smirked while looking ba
“There will be a big auction at Tranquil that will happen tonight,” Chris said. We are inside the hideout, discussing our next move. I had lunch yesterday with that Zygo, and it did not go well. He had a lot of questions, but I remained silent the whole time while I was with him. I ignored his chatter. I did not assume that a tycoon like him was that kind of person. His mouth is more feminine than mine. “Dhara, are you listening?” I was startled by Clark’s question, but I tried to hide it. “Uh, yes. Go ahead.” “What kind of auction, Chris?” Tara asked; she’s beside me, firmly staring at Chris. “A jewelry and antique auction,” Chris answered. “Is it safe?” Clark asked with an unwelded voice. “We won’t know if we won’t try.” “What are you thinking, Chris!
