Emerald's POVShit. That is all that went through my mind as we stared at each other. It didn't cause a disturbance with anyone on the floor because nobody noticed this gorgeous man, standing outside, looking directly into the diner, at me. Garret stood outside her apartment alone. Trying hard. Trying so hard that it gave him a headache that he didn't succeed. It was impossible, that's all that came to mind. An apartment that he couldn't hear through, something else was up and he needed to know what. It crossed his mind to go up there himself and figure it out but he refused. EmeraldThe day was the same as any other. For the breakfast rush I had served the customers and then when the chef for the morning went home, I went to the back to do lunch. Once the rush was over, near the end of my shift, I was back out on the floor to tidy up before the dinner rush. EmeraldI ached.I ached for days. Garret stuck with my wishes and didn't come to me for the days that I couldn't bear to look at him, let alone breathe his scent. The minuscule thing Lily did was a whimper. That was it. My schedule remained of working and going home to sulk. I had gone to the grocery store once this week to have food in my kitchen for when I cook but cooking has only resorted to shared recipes on Pinterest. I was so upset that not even cooking could ease my mind and my state. But even with all the pain I felt, I still missed Garret. The cause of all this. I knew that what he had done was in the past and before either of us knew of each other's existence. Well, I knew of him, I'd be dumb not to, but before we both knew that we were each other's mates. It still drove Lilly and me mad. Someone else knowing Garret more than I did was unsettling, and not just one person, but multiple. I sat here, on my couch, phone in hand, tempted to call him.
