Chapter 18

Emerald

I followed my usual routine of getting up at the crack of dawn, not naked this time, and went to work to do the morning and lunch rush. To say that I was anxious was an understatement. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if Rhoda saying that she hadn't seen anyone around the diner would cause them to not check back in. I was confused and I was nervous and I couldn't wrap my head around intentionally staying to finish this journey, to finish this prophecy. Whatever that is and whatever that may be.

As I worked, it was easy for my mind to get off the anxious topic that had been flooding my mind since yesterday. I focused on the customers and fulfilling orders and at lunchtime, switching with a coworker to work the kitchen.

Having been in the kitchen for three hours, cooking nonstop, it wasn't until two in the afternoon that I finally got to breathe. Considering it was the end of my shift, I still went onto the floor to see if any help was needed with cleaning. Rhoda ha
