Chapter 3

“Are we going to heaven?” She asked him. She doesn’t even know if she said that loud or if it was just in her mind.

The next morning, Clara woke up and found a man lying beside her. She can't remember anything at all from the club but only recalled what transpired between them last night.

He wasn’t an Angel? He is human? What have I done? She thought to herself.

The man was still fast asleep, she stole a glance at him, he looked so handsome. No wonder she followed him thinking he was an angel.

He was not only handsome,  he looked wealthy also, she couldn't believe she must have accepted to sleep with him for money. That thought alone made her grit her teeth. Alcohol was too bad for a light-headed person like her.

Without making much noise, she tiptoed in order not to wake the man up. She collected her clothing and took a last glance at him, before leaving the hotel.

She went back home but by the time she got back, her items were outside. Her family had thrown her out of the house.

She rushed to the door after seeing her belongings dispersed on the floor. She knocked on the door and her sister, Selene, was the person that opened the door for her.

“What is it?” She asked Clara, folding her arm and leaning against the wall.

“My bags are scattered outside, what happened? I want to come in.” She said to Selene, trying to gather her scattered clothes and items thrown out.

“Dad said we should not let you in whenever you come back. You had the guts to sleep in a man’s house. Dad said he will disown you and you should go to the man’s house.” Selene told her without any sign of pity for her.

“Can I come in at least, I can at least explain what happened. I didn’t go to a man’s house.” She pleaded to Selene who was blocking the entrance.

“You don’t need to lie big sister, all you have to do is accept you were with a man and I can help you beg Mom and Dad, you know I can do that.”

“But you know I’m not lying. I didn’t go to a man’s house.” Clara tried to reason with Selene but before she could finish Selene slammed the door on her face.

Clara knocked again on the door and Elizabeth opened it.

“Can I talk to Dad, please?”

“You slut! you still have the nerves to knock on this door. Don’t ever do that again!” She said and slammed the door in her face too.

Clara gathered her property and stayed there waiting for her Dad to come to her rescue. She had given him several missed calls and several texts but he didn’t pick up.

She sat there till evening and saw there was no hope of her entering the house, so she decided to go back to that hotel.

She would find the youngman and tell him the damages he had done to her. Unfortunately, when she got to the hotel, he was no longer there.

The comic part of it was that she doesn't have an idea of what the man’s name was. How could she make such a mistake? But recalling his handsome face made her smile a little.

Clara decided to call her friend, Sophia, to find out whether she was in town and luckily for her, she was.

She gathered her items and went to her friend's house.

“What happened to you?” Sophia asked.

After Clara narrated everything to her, Sophia felt pity for her friend. She had been aware of her family crisis and she knew how she suffered at the hands of her stepmom.

I came across some job offers this morning and I think you should try. It doesn’t need many qualifications.

Clara thanked her and applied for the jobs immediately after Sophia sent her the links; her interview was scheduled for tomorrow already.

When Alex Peters woke up from his hotel bed, he could not find the lady from the club anymore, she had already left.

He only remembered that her name is Clara and had no other information about her.

He wondered why she left so soon. There was something special about her, he recalled the memory of her last night. In her drunken state, she said a lot of funny things. She even called him an angel and said she needed his help.

He couldn't believe that the memories of her were making him blush like this. He definitely wants to meet her again.

He reminisced how she seemed so perfect at it, how she twisted her wrist clockwise making use of her tongues and hands. Why was he getting hard thinking about her?

When he found himself smiling at that, he called himself back and quickly called his personal assistant on the phone.

“The Lady from last night, I want every information about her. Have the security check the cameras and let me know when you get any vital information.”

“Okay, CEO Alex,” Andrew answered.

Not long after the call, Andrew called back.

“From our research, the Lady from last night is the first daughter of Mr. Roberts, he remarried and Clara lives with him and his stepmom, from my findings, they don't treat Clara so well.”

“What do you mean by that?” Alex asked Andrew.

“Her stepmom controls Mr. Robert and she's often neglected.”

“I need you to find her within twenty-four hours,” Alex instructed, he wanted to know the reason why she left before he woke up. She followed him to the hotel willingly calling him an Angel.

“There is a great news boss,” Andrew said.

“What could that be?”

“She just applied to the company for the vacancy we advertised.”

“Schedule her interview right away!” He instructed and ended the call. That was great news for him.

The next morning, Clara prepared for the interview from Sophia's house. She prayed that the interview would go well and that the boss would choose her. Since it stated that not many qualifications were needed, there was a high chance that she would get the job.

She arrived at the office and there were other people seated too. Each of them went in there and came out with a smile too.

She wondered if they were going to employ them all and why they always smiled. Finally, it was her turn and she went in and sat upright.

“What qualifications do you have?” Andrew asked her.

“I only went to high school but I can do anything.” She answered, though she had low self-esteem.

“Only a high school certificate?

Clara nodded.

“Why did you apply?”

“It stated that qualifications weren’t needed.”

“Fair enough. The pay for this job is five hundred thousand dollars monthly.”

Clara gasps at the mention of that amount. She became eager to convince Andrew that she could do anything.

Andrew pointed at the other door behind the office, it was a door leading to the inner office. That was where Alex was.

“Go in,” he told her.

Clara prayed in her heart as she went in, she didn’t know that she would be interviewed by two people but in her mind, she had passed the first stage.

She sat on the chair but the man was facing backward, slowly he swung the chair and Clara noticed a familiar look.

“Why does he look so familiar?” She pondered to herself, trying to bite her nails to remember.

“Angel?” She mumbled, with her eyes wide open.
