Chapter 9

Clara was startled by the scream of Mrs. Peters. She didn't expect her and she also didn't know when they came in.

“Good morning Ma.” She greeted politely to show some respect but the old lady was going to find fault.

“What did you just do? Greet me? Do you think that will change the fact that my son brought a prostitute to his home?”

Clara tucked her lips to the insults Mrs. Peters laid on her. She didn't dare to open her mouth and speak while the Lady still spoke.

Annie Cooper rushed to where Mrs. Peters was standing. She had been looking at the glass design on the wall but because of the way Mrs. Peters spoke, she wanted to know what was happening.

She had just finished examining Clara and turned to Mrs. Peters and asked her. “Mum, who is she? I was thinking the servants should have a room close to the kitchen or outside.”

“Mum, is she the head of the maids? She must be really annoying and that is why you are yelling at her.”
