A kiss on the roof

“What do you mean by flirting? I wasn't flirting with him! I was just conversing with Pearl.”

“Pearl?” Miguel turned to face me. “And who the hell is this Pearl?”

“God. I can't believe you.” I turned my face to the side, pissed by his misunderstanding.

The ride back to the mansion was one done in silence. None of us said any words. And neither did he try to initiate a conversation with me. The silence between us was so thick, you can cut a knife.

He drove into the compound, killed the engine, and turned to me. “Jewel—”

“I guess I will go in first,” I removed the seat belt and opened the door.

“You were asked to come for an interview on Monday.” He said in that cold voice of his. It seemed to bite more now.

“What?” I turned to him in surprise. I wasn't expecting to hear those words, at least, not this early.

“The school called. You're to have an interview on Monday.” He got down from the car, and I did the same.
