Shane's POV

Standing in the meeting room the distinct smell of blood kissed my nose. I froze, my head shooting up eyes wide I could tell everyone in the room could smell it too. Noone was breathing. Noone made a move until we heard the screams then everyone burst out of the room through the castle and over the ground towards the cottage. Once we arrived it was a horrible scene. Blood covered the drive and the broken bloody bodies of the guards lay in front of the door. 

"SCARLETT?!" I screamed into the cottage as I slipped on blood running inside. 

I cleared the whole place within a minute but there was noone inside. 

"Mom?" I heard Chris say from outside and exited the cottage to see Scarlett's family surrounding her mother laying on the ground next to one of the trees. 

I mindlinked a doctor to come and tend to her as I turned to Jamie who was kneeling next to one of the dead guards.
