BLOOD CROWN: 006

When Roxanne opened her eyes again she found herself looking at a wooden ceiling with a throbbing in her head. She winced and pushed herself to a sitting posture on the little bed. What the hell!

She rubbed against her forehead and took a quick check of her surroundings, but there was nothing to gaze at, save the little bed she was sleeping on; there was a door but no windows. This was no late birthday celebration; she'd been abducted! Roxie realized with a gasp.

How long did she sleep?!

Her cellphone. Roxie forgot the pain in her head as she checked her pockets, only to discover her phone missing. Those scumbags. What did they even want from her?!

Roxie sprang out of bed and began hammering on the wooden door. "Hey! Let me out of here. I didn't do anything to anybody!"

In this life, she'd done plenty to people but only because they came at her first and she didn't go down without a fight. "Please let me go, you've got the wrong girl!" She shouted again, and the door swung open, revealing the one with pale pupils. Roxie took a step away from him right away.

He swept his strange eyes over her before looking her in the eyes. Roxie tried not to hitch at the whiteness of them. Puzzling how he could see.

"You must be starving. Come with me." He didn't linger as he turned and began leaving.

So they spoke English and only ignored her on purpose. How rude! "Hey!" she yelled and followed him. There was nothing to look at this time, just the wooden walls of a house along a narrow corridor till they entered a living room with a single sofa and a table in front of it.

"Sit," he offered.

Roxie folded her arms across her chest, already making plans to flee. "What do you want from me? Are you going to demand a ransom from my parents?" That was what every kidnapper did. They either kill or demand money, and she wasn't dead yet so it was the latter.

"I'm not going to call it a ransom. Now take a seat!" He slammed his hands on her shoulders and pressed her down on the chair, and then, golden eyes emerged from one corner of the house with a bowl of white rice and sauce, which he placed in front of her and his eyes commanded her to eat, but Roxie gazed back unwaveringly.

They were in for a surprise if they thought she was simple to deal with.

"Perhaps she thinks it's poisoned?" As if she weren't there, white eyes murmured to golden eyes. That would make sense. Then he veered those discolored eyes back to her and crouched. "I can take a spoon if you think so?"

In dread, Roxie's lips split. Were these guys for real? They abducted her and now demanded her to eat! "I don't want your food. Just tell me what you want from me."

"Why?" He inquired, and before she could answer, someone else did.

"Imagine you've been abducted. I don't suppose you'll accept meals from your kidnappers, Ciel." Violet's eyes entered the living room via the sole door, giving her a quick view of the outside, and all she saw were trees before he slammed the door shut.

Ciel—white eyes, stood up. "Where have Kaizen and Azriel gone?"

Violet's eyes shrugged. "Azriel broke the key to the van; he's getting scolded by Kaizen."

Roxie listened. So, there were more of them?! And again, one of her. She leaned back and sighed into her palms. She felt the desire to shriek at the top of her lungs. Why was this happening? What was even happening?

Then her ears caught the sound of a howl. Her lamenting came to a stop, and she sat up. It appeared like she wasn't the only one who heard it, as the three guys appeared to be more alert than she was.

"That can't be what I think it is, right?" Violet's eyes scrutinized, and all three of them loomed in front of her like a protective shield. Was this supposed to be assuring?!

Nobody asked her, but she responded. "Probably a wild animal," she shrugged, and then there was silence for a second before the beastly growl came again, and this time Roxie leaped to her feet as the sound seemed to be traversing closer. "We're going to get eaten!" She said a little too theatrically for her taste.

"Just stay behind us and you will be safe," Ciel assured with a glance over his shoulder, and she peered at him as if he'd sprouted an extra head on his shoulder because he fucking has!

They kidnapped her and were now going to safeguard her from some lethal beast and they expected her to believe them? How messed up was that?

Then, with a boom, the door blasted open, and someone crashed at their feet.

"Azriel!" The guys exclaimed and helped the new guy to his feet.

“They are here. We have to leave immediately." Azriel spoke just in time as a massive black dog emerged from nowhere and stepped on the frame of the broken door.

Its eyes were the deepest shade of black, like peering into an abyss, and its fangs were jagged as he licked them while glaring with a malevolent stare, its claws were the sharpest and didn't belong to a dog because this wasn't a dog; Roxie realized she was staring at a bloody wolf.

Fuck! She was going to die!
