By the time it hit midnight, everyone had to rest for the night. We couldn't risk getting exhausted for the wedding. But there was something I could risk, like finding the bride and just kissing her.

I hated the silence in the mansion as though no one existed. Lights were dim, the night was quiet. I made my silent approach to the kitchen.

Getting a warm glass of milk ready, I also made myself a glass of coffee and occupied a seat on the kitchen island. Minutes passed and I could not stop glancing at the entrance. She had to show up because I believed she couldn't sleep like I couldn't. I was excited and nervous, and I believed she missed me.

A whisper got me shooting my head to where it emerged. It was from the garden where our wedding was to take place. I got up and made my way to the window, to take a peek, only to see Mary and Dad talking. They seemed to be in a little serious conversation which I bet involved what they had between them.
