As she opened her eyes, she squinted against the brightness of the light pouring in from the window. The walls of her room greeted her vision, the scent of antiseptic filled her nostrils, and the constant beeping sound filled her ears. Despite the aches in every part of her body, she ignored it all as she caught sight of her child.
