Chapter 9 A painful night

DIANA

As soon as I got home, I kicked off my shoes with tears in my eyes. I had stopped myself from crying on the way back home.

I went to check on my twins and the only reason I have kept pushing after all the tragedies I had to face in the past.

“You are back?“ My neighbor, a kind old woman named Maria who has always helped me look after my twins whenever I was busy or Kate wasn’t available said to me, getting up from where she was seated on the couch.

“Yes. Thanks so much for today,“ I thanked her.

She has been kind enough to watch them for me when I wasn’t around When I first moved in here two years ago, I had difficulty finding someone to help look for them and so she decided to help me.

Maria works at the school my twins attended and so she comes back home with them for me sometimes and takes care of them.

“It’s no problem. Ammika wasn’t feeling too well today and so I took her to the school infirmary and they recommended some drugs for her. Here is the bill,“ she said and
