Chapter 8 The rain

DIANA

I arrived at my part-time shift and was hoping and hoping not to see Albert. I search around for him the moment I stepped into the restaurant. I couldn’t find it and I felt a little bit disappointed but at the same time relieved that he listened and stayed away from me.

He had no right to come back to me and act like everything was going to be fine after what he did to me in the past and how he broke me.

He hurt me so much and I was just a stupid naive teenage girl who let him take advantage of it.

Whenever I think of how stupid I was and how I was vulnerable, I dislike myself. I was too much in love with a man that didn’t care about me or saw me as someone worthy to be by his side.

I continued with my work for the day, attending to customers and taking care of their orders and before I knew it, I was done with my shift for today.

While I packed my bag, I heard the crowd rumble. It was a rainy season but I still forget to take an umbrella with me all the time.
