Chapter 7
At the Kibich Central Teaching and Referral Hospital (KCTRH), Kate, a surgical doctor and Daniel’s acquaintance was coming out of a three-hour surgery. Before going to the changing room to get out of her surgical attire, she rushed to her office and locked the door behind her.
She quickly unlocked a lower drawer on the left side of her desk. She then took out a blood bag and helped herself to gratification. As a vampire, working at the hospital as a surgeon, always exposed to blood and, keeping her secret was no easy task.
An empty blood bag later, she was fully quenched. She walked out to the changing room and got into her normal attire. Her day’s shift was over. As she was going back to her office to get her effects, Jason, an intelligent handsome medical doctor approached.
He stood right in front of her, “Today you have no excuse for turning down my proposal. It’s early enough,” he said as he handed a rose paper-fold to her.

As usual, before they could get to the bloody cadaver, they walked around the scene looking for anything that could give them a clue as to what had happened to the young girl. Sweet melodies could be heard as the birds intoned early morning acclaims in thanksgiving. Indistinct engine revs and tire squishes could be heard from a distance as few to diminutive cars sped by on the highway. At Kibich University, classes and every other routines were back to normal. The students were still terrified by their colleague’s mysterious murder though. To those that had seen her bloody body; the incident was still fresh in their memory. Various rumors were spreading amongst them about Elizabeth’s murder as they awaited for her tribute ceremony organized by the university. Detective Claire intensified her search for the eccentric appearing at her crime scenes. This stranger happened to be Daniel. He was her number one suspect in the murders of her father and Elizabeth. Besides circulating his delineation around every precinct in the city, she made sure that her team was up to the task as well. After reporting for work, Michael gathered the team for a briefing and quick overview of the search headway. As usual, the captain commenced the briefing, “how far are we on finding our suspect? Any leads?” he asked. The weather was calm. The sun was shining bright. At its background was a light blue sky with almost no clouds. It was a beautiful day until it was no more. Over the police radios, Claire and her team heard a distress call from the officers on patrol. In a nervous voice, “this is 4th squad. Shots fired, I repeat…shots fired. We need backup on 16th street,” an officer called out.Claire and her team diverted immediately to offer backup. “This is detective Claire. Backup is on the way.
