THE SUGGESTION

VERONICA'S POV

After Chairman Williams and his wife left, I slumped into the seat. I couldn't breathe. In the last minutes, I couldn't breathe.

I had always imagined this day. I did but I never imagined my heart feeling this wrenched.

I stared at Lawrence. He was up on his feet looking at the window almost restlessly. What was going on in his head?

I wondered why he never told me he found out the child wasn't his. Was he ever going to tell me if this didn't happen?

Perhaps he never would have.

Perhaps he had gotten comfortable with his ex-girlfriend while I was away.

I felt my throat dry and ended up swallowing hard, burning my throat in the process.

“Sir, the reporters are headed here. They have gotten a wind of your residence,”Jessie announced.

Lawrence let out a frustrated sigh. “We have to leave now. The reporters will soon flood here,” he told me.

“I will pick a few of my things,” I said as I stood up and went into my room.
