Chapter 1

Naomi's pov.

I watched as everybody and their mothers walked past me in their best attire on their way to Alpha's ball.

It was the most awaited party of the year and everyone was dressing to impress. Not to mention the fact that the Alpha might be choosing a mate this time around. Everyone was trying to look their best so that they could be chosen.

"I wish you'd change your mind and come," Lily said behind me and I rolled my eyes, turning around to face her.

I gasped at the beautiful red gown adorning her figure.

"You look amazing!" I remarked, my eyes eating up her lovely dress that suited her olive skin tone and blonde hair.

"Thank you," she said, twirling around to show it off.

"You are welcome," I smiled, proud of how gorgeous she looked, "and I'm not interested in going to a party. Especially one in the pack house." I remarked, walking past her to get some earrings that I thought would look better on her.

"Why not?" She asked.

I looked over at her from my dresser.

"You know why, I wouldn't be welcomed there plus I need to stay home with my father tonight, he doesn't look so good,"

"Oh, come on. What if this is your chance to meet the Alpha? What if he likes you back ?"

I burst out laughing as I plucked the earrings from my dresser and walked over to her.

"Right because the Alpha of the pack is going to take one look at my ugly outcast ass and nod that I'm the one. Please,"

I laughed again. I was laughing but it hurt because it was the truth. I was not the type of girl the Alpha would go for, hell, not even the omegas wanted me.

I was an outcast, a loner and according to most members of the pack, no better than a rogue and they were right

My father, the former Beta of the pack and now an elder, had rescued me twenty years ago during the great rogue attack in the pack.

He'd found me outside the border, close to a tree crying with blood all over me, he had wanted to leave me there but couldn't stomach it, so he'd taken me in and when the Elders had queried him for bringing an unknown rogue child into the pack, he'd pleaded and had even had to step down as elder in-order to keep me.

"Don't sell yourself short like that, Naomi, you are gorgeous and the Alpha would be dumb not to find you attractive."

I rolled my eyes and gestured for her to turn around. I put the earrings on her and she squealed in excitement at how great it went with the dress.

"Thank you so much, It looks great!" She said and hugged me.

Lily was the only friend I had in the pack, she was the only one who treated me like I was worth anything. We had met in pup elementary school, where other pups were making fun of me and beating me up, she was defending me and following me around like a lost puppy. Even when I tried pushing her away, for some reason she never stopped having my back.

"You are welcome., You should probably hurry before the Alpha falls in love with someone else other than you."

I shooed her out the door and handed her bag over to her.

"Bye," she waved at me.

I let out a tired sigh as I watched her go.

I turned to go back into the house but as I did, I felt something hard hit me on my shoulders followed by a harsh voice yelling a me to go back to my rogue life.

I looked over at the culprit, it was a fourteen-year-old boy, one of the Elders’ son

Ignoring him, I  walked back inside. I wasn't going to let anyone break my spirit today.

Sure, I didn't get to go to the Alpha's birthday party and one of their year anniversary as Alpha party but that didn't mean u was worthless. I ignored the pain in my heart and went to check on my father.

As I got close the his door, I could hear him coughing. I hastened my steps and barged into his room only to find him on the floor, convulsing.

"Dad!" I ran to him, my heart beating in my chest. I pulled his head up and placed him on my lap, unsure of what to do to stop the rapid rise and fall of his chest entire and body.

"Dad! Wait, please." I pleaded with him. trying to get him to calm down.

Quickly, I dragged a pillow from his bed placed it in place of his head, and then cleared the area to prevent him from injuring himself. I began to take off his clothes so that he could breathe properly.

What on earth was going on? He'd taken his meds barely an hour ago.

"Dad, please, stay with me!" I pleaded, my heart beating as I tried to get his seizure to stop.

I moved down to his abdominal area and began to press in his stomach.

Eventually, his seizure stopped but he was barely breathing. y breathing became shallow as I tapped him to wake up but he did

"Father wake up!" I pleaded with him, opening his eyes to check for any sign of life.

I quickly felt his pulse and it was faint, too faint.

I needed to find a doctor now.

"I'll be back dad, I'm going to go get the pack doctor," I said to him and ran with all my might to the pack clinic only to find it locked.

In a state of confusion, I wondered where on earth the doctor could and I realized there was only one place all of the doctors and nurses could be at this time, The Alpha's party.

Without wasting a single second, I ran to the pack house, my heart beating within my chest as fear gripped me.

I was doing my best to be strong but I had to terrible feeling that I would not make it in time to my father.

The thoughts alone fueled my legs to run even faster.

"Doctor Harrison!" I called as soon as I got to the pack house, surprisingly the pack guards didn't stop me as I tried to go in.

"Has anyone seen Doctor Harrison?" I yelled, pushing through the crowd to get to him.

"Eww, what is she doing here?" A voice said as I passed them

"The slave girl is here," another one said.

"Is she even allowed here?" Another voice said but I ignored them, I was too focused on finding Doctor Harrison or any doctor at all.

I was still moving through the crowd checking every face, trying to find Doctor Harrison, when I felt the hands of someone grab me.

"You came!" Lily squealed.

A strong scent filled my nostrils and I glanced away from the lily, trying to find where it was coming from.

I wasn't sure when I let go of Lily but I was now in front of the ballroom, walking towards the Alpha of the pack.

His blue eyes met with mine and the air became thick with tension.

Slowly, the Alpha stood up from his chair, his eyes still glued to mine as if something was connecting our eyes, and growled out.

"Mate"l
