Chapter 5

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The alpha king, my supposed mate and the father of my child, was willing to sacrifice us both just to break the curse. I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces, and tears streamed down my face as I overheard the conversation.

"I don't care what happens to her or the child," the alpha king growled, his voice filled with anger. "All I care about is breaking this curse once and for all. If that means using them as sacrifices, then so be it."

I backed away slowly, trying to remain unnoticed as I processed his words. How could he be so heartless?  As soon as I was out of earshot, I ran back to my room, my mind racing with thoughts of escape. I couldn't stay here any longer, not with the alpha king's plans for our child. I had to find a way out, and fast.

I slumped onto the edge of my bed, feeling utterly lost and overwhelmed. Every fiber of my being screamed for me to flee from the alpha king's grasp, but the enormity of the situation was suffocating. Vanessa's words of caution echoed like a resounding gong in my head, reminding me of the immense danger that loomed over me. How could I possibly escape from the clutches of the most powerful and feared alpha in the region? The mansion was swathed in layers of heavy security, and every move I made was monitored and scrutinized with intense vigilance. I couldn't even imagine slipping away unnoticed.

The sound of a knock on my door sent a jolt of fear ricocheting through my body. My heart thundered so loudly that I was sure the alpha king himself could hear it. My mind raced, wondering if he had finally discovered my plot to escape. I rushed to the door, my body tense with anxiety, and flung it open. Relief flooded through me when I saw Vanessa standing there, her face etched with concern.

As she stepped inside, her words flowed in a gentle cadence, laced with sympathy and empathy. "Amelia, I overheard the alpha king's plans too. Are you alright?"

I shook my head despondently, tears cascading down my face like a never-ending stream. "No, I'm not. He doesn't care about me or our child. He just wants to use us to break the curse."

Vanessa's eyes widened, mirroring my own fear and dread. "I know, Amelia. That's why I'm here. I want to help you escape."

My mind raced with disbelief. Was she truly suggesting that we run away from the alpha king's mansion? It sounded insane and suicidal, but at the same time, I knew that I had to do everything in my power to protect my unborn child.

"How?" I asked breathlessly, wondering what kind of plan Vanessa had in mind.

Vanessa's face twisted with determination as she spelled out the details of the scheme. Her words were measured and precise, filled with caution and a sense of urgency. It was not going to be easy, but it was our best chance at freedom. I had to leave under the cover of darkness, with utmost stealth and silence.

As she spoke, my heart raced with both fear and hope. The idea of escaping from the alpha king's iron grip was both thrilling and terrifying, and the thought of being caught made my stomach churn with anxiety. But I knew I had to do this, for the sake of my child's safety and my own sanity.

"Okay," I said finally, mustering all the courage I had left. "But you have to be careful. If you're caught, the alpha king will kill you."

Vanessa's eyes met mine, and I saw a flash of steel resolve in them. "I know, Amelia. That's why you have to be swift, stealthy, and utterly silent. Our lives depend on it.

As night fell, I  made my way to the front door, my heart pounding with anticipation. Vanessa had already disabled the security system, so I  slipped out undetected. The mansion was dark and quiet, with only a few guards patrolling the grounds.

As I made my way towards the exit of the mansion, I could feel my heart pounding furiously .My mind raced with thoughts of what would happen if I was caught. I couldn't bear to think about the cruel punishment that awaited me if I was caught. I knew I had to leave as quickly as possible, before the alpha king could catch me.

Every step I took felt like an eternity, and I was constantly looking over my shoulder, fearing that the alpha king would catch up to me any second. I couldn't bear to think about the cruel punishment that awaited me if I was caught. I knew I had to leave as quickly as possible, before the alpha king could catch me.

Suddenly, I heard the alpha king's voice boom out behind me. "Where do you think you're going, Amelia?" My heart skipped a beat, and I froze in place. I could feel his hot breath on my neck as he leaned in close to me.

"I'm sorry, I can't stay here," I whispered, tears streaming down my face.

"Amelia, you can't run away from me," he growled. "I own you. You belong to me."

I took a deep breath and turned to face him. "I don't belong to anyone," I said, trying to sound braver than I felt. "And neither does our child. We're not your property."

The alpha king's eyes narrowed, and I could see the anger burning in them. "You're making a big mistake, Amelia. You have no idea what you're getting yourself into."

"I know exactly what I'm doing," I said, my voice shaking. "I'm leaving this place, and I'm taking our (unborn )child with me."

The alpha king laughed cruelly. "You think you can outrun me? You think you can hide from me? I'll find you, no matter where you go. You belong to me."

I took a step back, fear overwhelming me. "I don't belong to you," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "And I never will.

As I said I ran as fast as I could, never looking back, I was determined to get as far as I could from him. With my swollen belly, tears filled my eyes as I ran out of his sight, never stopping, his words echoed in my mind with fear "Amelia, you can't run away from me," he growled. "I own you. You belong to me."
