One horror story

There was a slight twinkle visible in Chloe’s eyes. It was strangely relaxing. I have always heard that there were people who made friends so quickly, and I hadn’t believed that, but now I did.

The way Chloe fussed over me as I wondered what to wear to the event was mildly electrifying. I’ve had a few friends, but they weren’t like Chloe. She was becoming a hurricane.

“So, have you thought of what to wear?” She asked calmly.
My gaze shifted to the three outfits on the bed.

One was a hyper short gown, the other, a Jump suit that would need a T-shirt to cover up my skin, and the last was, a skirt that was slit till the thigh to create a statement.

All three were absolutely breathtaking, but they weren’t my style.\
 “I don’t like them,” I said flatly.
Chloe gave me a look. “I don’t get that.

Aren’t they your clothes? Why don’t you like them?”
I shrugged. “The last two are from my best-friend and the other is from my mom.

Mom claimed I needed to unwind here in college, and these outfits will do just that,” I explained softly.

Chloe chuckled.
 “Don’t laugh,” I whined.

She held a hand up in a bid to stop the laughter that spilled from her loins. She shook her head slowly.

I was quite aware that it took her everything not to laugh.
“I can just imagine. But, I honestly think one of this outfit will serve its purpose this night.” She said firmly.

I frowned slightly, not quite sure she was right. I didn’t want to look stupid, but also, I didn’t want to dress up in something I wouldn’t be comfortable wearing.
After much deliberation, I finally chose the jumpsuit.

I felt it called out to me, and well, I loved the fact that I won’t be fusing with my dress throughout the party.

It was ok.
Chloe set a time for us to leave, so we could get there early, and then waved me adios, as she went around the campus.

I needed some peace and quiet, so I stayed behind.
I brought out three of my novels; the midnight library, The apple of my parents eyes and dying to please.

They were my favourites, and amazing reads for me. I stared at them for a long time, before I finally slept off.

“Wake up!”
I frowned slightly, swatting off the hands that were on my arm with a sigh. I didn’t want to wake up, all I wanted was the blissful sleep I was drowning in.

Someone shook me up. My hands sprang open immediately. I was so tired and weak.
My eyes caught Chloe’s. She was looking at me in exasperation.

Why Was she staring at me like that? Why did she wake me?
 “What?” I queried.
“Are you still coming for the outing?”
I gasped as the cords connected as one.

I jumped up from the bed in a panic. “You should have told me earlier,” I whined.
She placed a hand on her chest in a bid to make me feel better. “Relax!” She said with a laugh.

“We still have time, and it’s a party, and nod classes. Chill…”
I closed my hands, mimicking her gesture of placing my hand on my chest. I was really silly. She was right. I laughed nervously, and then sat at the edge of the chair.
“Don’t mind me,” I said easily.

“I guess it’s my intensified hormones from sleep that’s causing me to be so hyper.”
She rolled her eyes. “You’re excited! I’am too. We will meet so much people, and I will also introduce you to a few friends I’ve made.” She said kindly.
I smiled then. “Right.” A quick look at the wall showed that it was 6:45 pm.

A gasp escaped my lips again. “Look at the time, we better hurry.” I said quickly.
“You’re a punctual freak.” She stated easily. “Get ready.

I’m going to do some tweaks in my make-up and we will be good to go,” she informed me.
In less than ten minutes, I was done.

Chloe was dressed in leather which seemed to suit her immediately. She was so beautiful.
“You look amazing,” she hyped as she grabbed a purse and shore from the chair.
 I smiled.

“And, you’re so beautiful,” I said firmly.
A smile touched my lips. “Let’s go.”
She nodded. I grabbed my jean purse that completed my look, and took some cash.

You always need to be prepared in these outings, so you don’t make a fool of yourself. I tossed it and the room keys into the purse, then followed Chloe out.

Outside, dusk was fast approaching, and the smell of rain hung in the air. This outfit was really good after all.

I and Chloe chatted about nothing as we walked through the windy part, and deep into the forest at the back of Spadeville.

Loud music and chants greeted my ears. I was starting to become shy. Who would I meet there?
“Babe, we are here!” Chloe informed me.
True to her words, we had come to a clearing.

Hundreds of teens sprawled around the floor, and camp fire stood in the midst, lighting up the night. I automatically felt at ease. “Hey, girls!” Someone shouted in the flock.

I looked at Chloe, she was waving to them like she was some sort of celebrity. Cheesy grin followed suit. I was pulled unceremoniously into a hard chest.

“I…” “What are you doing?” I shouted at him. His hands let go of me, and pulled me backwards.

I stared into the most beautiful face I’ve ever seen. I felt my cheek heat up, at the intensity of his gaze on me.  “I’m sorry.” He pushed a drink towards me.

“I wanted to make you feel at ease. It’s the custom around here,” he explained with a slight laugh.
“I see… It’s the tradition to pull beautiful women into your chest,” I teased.
 He smiled.

“When you put it like that, I guess it is.”
I took the drink from him, loving the fruity fragrance it had.

“There might be someone who wouldn’t appreciate such forlorn gestures.”
He placed his hands dramatically on his chest. “Oh, you wound me señorita.” He said with a wink.
 I laughed softly.
“No-one can stop being enchanted with me.

There is just something about me,” he boasted.
“Something like the ketchup up on your lips?”
 “Where?” He asked affronted.

I took a sip of my drink. “It’s not alcohol, right?”
He smirked. “Show me where the ketchup is first,” he said levelly.

I touched the side of my lips to show him, but his hands never got there, so I took the plunge, and cleaned off his lips.

My cheeks heated up, and I was glad the fire was there to make it seem like that was the cause. He was still looking at me intensely.
 “Thanks,” he said simply.

I noted how masculine his voice sounded. It was so soothing too, And, somehow it reminded me of my dad.
“You’re welcome,” I said softly, retreating from him.

There was a bit of quietness which was soothing too. Everything about him was soothing. I was starting to get used to the quietness too.
“Em… you were asking about your drink.

You don’t take alcohol?” He asked. “And, that’s a harmless fruit drink. So, you’re safe,” he informed me softly.

I smiled. “I’m not heavy on alcoholic drinks,” I said softly.
He nodded. “It’s evident on you,” he stated. I rolled my eyes.

“Right.” I rose my brow at him. “You’re not clairvoyant, are you?” I asked softly.
He laughed softly. My eyes slid from his body to the length of him. Hid outfit was ragged, so contrary to him.

I noted the tattoo that inked his wrist. He was definitely a bad boy. He wasn’t someone to mess with.
 “That’s funny.

I’m Ian. You are?”
 “Maya.”
He wiped his hand on his faded blue shirt, and stretched it forward for me to shake.

I obliged, placing my small soft ones on his wide rough ones.
We smiled at each other, when I heard my name.

I turned, and saw Chloe signalling for me to come over. I smiled at her, and giving her a signal that I would be there.

I turned back to Ian, and noted that his eyes seemed too harden, but it cleared so quickly, that I thought I had imagined it.
“I think you should head back.

Have a nice night,” he said quickly, and then left without waiting for my response.

I thought to say, ‘you too’ but that would bring attention to myself.
Instead, I walked over to Chloe, and her group. They had a bucket between them.

They all looked the same, the same brown-haired thing. Fuck! What was Ian’s hair colour? I hadn’t been paying attention.
“Come, sit,” she said. “I will introduce you to my friends.

Her voice pushed forward, but my ears shifted away from her, as my eyes sought someone in the crowd. His gaze was intense as it settled on me. Ian.
