Her cheating mate

Siting in the midst of the crowd was beyond electrifying. The sounds of laughter was so soothing, and completely warming.

I wasn’t sure I remembered half of what Chloe had said, or the names of her friends.

I was too far gone with my drink to.
Chloe had swapped the fruity drink Ian had given me, with a tonic mixture that tasted slightly sweet.

The alcohol was really doing wonders to me now.
“By this night, I’m certain that we would get laid,” one of the girls said in a high-pitched voice.
I laughed. “You don’t look the type,” I blurted out.
Well in all honesty, she didn’t.

Not that she wasn’t beautiful, but she carried herself like a granny with her button-tight blouse and the long jean trouser she had on, she was simply out of fashion. Her hair made it a whole worse.

She looked like a brown mouse.
“Hey,” she said, visibly hurt by my words. “I’m telling you, I could give you a run for your money. I’m very hot and persuasive when I want to be,” she said stubbornly,
There was a laugh, while I gulped loudly. Chloe stood up, shaking on her legs, and made a move to leave.

I didn’t stand, just sat there smiling with her nameless friends.
“I’m sure you are,” I said dryly.
I chugged the content of my wine down, dropping the empty bottle on the floor.

The girl pouted sweetly, and then started saying some random things that I didn’t care to understand. I zoned out immediately.

What she was saying was hardly important to me.
Is he still looking at me?
I turned towards his direction, and I could have sworn that Ian had quickly faced up.

He had his eyes on me, I didn’t know how to feel. Did he like me?
One of the girls said she was going to relieve her bladder, and then I decided to do same.

I seriously needed to pee. With slightly shaky legs, I walked away from the group.
Where was Chloe? The thousands of faces made it difficult to spot her. It would have been nice if she was here, because I needed help.

Well, I better do that on my own.
I walked away from the slightly tipsy crowd, and into the forest around. I could see the light from the camp, and I didn’t want it to mistakenly fall on me while I was carrying out my business. That would be so embarrassing.

I quickly moved faster. The more I moved, the more intimidating the night was. The trees made a seamless sound that drove chills up my spine. They were also weird. I better not head too deeply into the forest.

I waked over to a low branch, and then carried out my business over there.

The release of the pee in my bladder made me feel more better. I pulled my panties up, only to fall on my face.
‘Maya, you need to head back,’ I said quietly, as I straightened up.
My knee hurt so much, but I didn’t let it stop me.

I looked through the path I had come from, and panic shot through my veins. It was a triplet route, which went in various directions.

Oh, God! How do I head back?
The last pint of alcoholic in my system dried off like cigarette stubs.

I put a hand on my forehead to stop the panic that threatened to engulf me. This is not the time! If I faint here, I would only be prey for the things that moved through the night.

Even as I thought this, I was beyond scared, and I didn’t know what to do.
 A hiss.
What was that? I jumped out of the tree trunk, and tried to slump. I looked back into the dangerous pathway.

I didn’t remember moving through twist and turns when I had come out, it should be the middle path that would lead me safety to the camp. I was sure of it.

I walked along the path for a solid five minutes, but it seemed like I wasn’t getting anywhere.

Sweat tickled down my forehead, despite how cold the night was.
There was another hiss. I looked up in a fright, and found myself looking right at a pair of glowing eyes that seemed to be perched on a spineless tree.
I tried to scream, but it ended up muffled.

I should… run? I turned around immediately, and almost had a stroke, as a fiery wolf was in the process of pouncing on me.
This time I screamed, and jumped the path into a gutter that was built in.

I felt something climb up my legs. I screamed hard, not once looking down. And, with the last strength I possessed crossed the gutter. Then I ran.
I ran as fast as my legs could take, not once looking back. ‘Mom!’ I cried inwardly. But, mother wasn’t here.

I was all alone in a wild forest, chased by a wold, and something more sinister.
I skipped rocks, plywoods that was thrown haphazardly in the pack. I don’t know how I could outrun the wold. Then I heard a howl, then two more. Ok, I’m officially in trouble.

Tears streamed down my face as the weigh of an animal pushed me down the earthy entails. I screamed, as I thrashed wildly, my fingers scratching at the dirt, in a bid to escape.
I don’t know how, but suddenly I was free. I crawled out of the spot on my hands and legs.

In a strange parallel universe, I could see Chloe as she exchanged her drink with her friends, laughing.

I was so close to them.
I opened my mouth to alert her, but the paw of an animal scraping my skin didn’t help my case.

I searched wildly, gritting my mouth to stop the pain that threatened to suffocate me as I searched wildly for a stick.
My fingers scraped a rock in the process, and the pain was insane. It was like one of them had fallen off.

Fear was so tasty at this point, and my heartbeat was beyond the normal. Despite the pain I was feeling, I gripped the rock, and swung.
The creature ducked, yet held onto my legs.

I tried to push it off. “Get off!” I screamed at it. It looked at me, and for one frightening second I saw my death. The creature stooped, and it big head engulfed my thigh. And, then, its fangs sunk into my flesh. A lazy sigh escaped my lips, as I slowly succumbed to the dark.
