"Oh, dear I’m sure it would have done your heart some good if I was to yes, but alas I am not. Though I do share in your pain. It saddens my heart daily to know that my big sister is no longer in this world.” Her voice was warm and kind, a little higher and softer than my mother's voice but if I closed my eyes it was like she was talking to me. I looked at her wide-eyed and let the tears fall anyway, overwhelmed with all the big bombs that have been dropped on me in the last while.
“You’re sister?” I whispered in question as I watched her come into the room and smile at Aiden, sitting beside him and patting his cheek fondly as he handed her a cup of tea before she faced me.
“Yes, your mother Alina, was my older sister. She was indeed a dragon. I am Deja, Deja Yarrow. I am Aiden's mother.” I looked at Aiden in surprise,
Woot! I finished book one! I can't believe that I did this! I have never finished a book before! I always talked myself out of it because of the overwhelming fear of not being good enough. But I did it! Make sure to check out my *** for updates on the next book; aurielleally and my *** authors page Aurielle. Thank you for coming on this amazing journey with me. Again?” I pant from my position on the hard ground, small stones digging into my bareback. I force myself into a sitting position and adjust my sports bra as I stand. I face off against my opponent, my hands raised and ready to deflect. Dorin lashed out quicker than I could react and his fist caught me in the mouth, my lip splitting and the smell of fresh blood invigorating the onlookers. Whoops and hollers are heard from the circle of spectators in the training room as Dorin Cash, Beta of the Richmond Pack kicks my ass. The others jeered as I swung and Doring dropped to his knee and jabbed me in the ribs. I let out a grunt and reacted quickly by bringing my knee up and clipping him in the jaw. I quickly backed up, squaring off against him again. “You’re getting sloppy Kara! You’re too slow, pick up the pace!” Or
I swear under my breath at leaving the laundry partially done and took off out the back door to the packhouse. I flew through the open door, narrowly missing someone and took the stairs two at a time, stopping at the third floor and sprinting into my room. Stripping as I made my way into the bathroom and took a quick shower, feeling suspicious of why Orso would want me there. Sure a warrior at an Alpha’s meeting makes sense, but a young she-wolf still in training? That makes no sense. After the world's fastest shower and a rushed swipe of the towel to get most of the water off my body and so my hair wasn’t sopping. I changed into jeans and a grey shirt before leaving my room and sliding down the banister, my bare feet making little smack sounds on the tile as I hopped off. I ran to the boardroom, accidentally slamming the door open, causing it to slam against the wall and 6 heads to look in my direction.
I sighed and made my way out of the room and took the stairs two at a time, making it to my room quickly. I swing the door closed behind me and flop onto my bed face first. I stilled as I realize it didn’t click behind me but relax as I hear a nice deep chuckle and the door click shut and lock. “Relax my little wolf. It’s just me.” I turned my head to the side and watched as Jax walked towards me. His eyes darkened as he climbed over me and lowered himself to hold me, his arms tight around me, his nose buried in my neck. He let out a soft growl as he took in my scent. “You smell like my father. He’s still chasing you I see.” “He’s always chasing me. He has yet to realize I’ve been with his son for almost a year.” I snickered as I rolled over onto my back under Jax and smiled up at him. My hands playing with the hem of his shirt. He smirked down at me as he sa
I was pulled from sleep, the dream slipping away fast the more coherent I became, by the sensation of gentle kisses being placed on my bare shoulder blade and warm calloused hands rubbing along my back and sides. I smile and hum in content, burying my face more in my comfy pillow. A warm chuckle sounded before one of his hands patted my butt. “Time to get up little wolf. Supper is soon and I have to sneak out of your room and you have to take a shower to get rid of my scent clinging to your skin.” Jas said softly as he stood from the bed and tugged on my ankle gently. I grumbled under my breath and stood up, a scowl on my face as I stretched. Immediately after, Jax pulled me into a rough, searing kiss, one hand encompassing my neck, slight pressure on my throat while his other hand fisted in my hair, crushing me to him. I panted, breathless, my lips red and s
I sat there eating my food as Ezra, Echo and Torrance chattered animatedly about the summit with everyone else at our table, and let my eyes wander out across the dining hall and all the gathered pack members. I saw Jax sitting at a table close to the head table with a group of his friends, a pretty she-wolf in his lap, his arm around her waist. I sighed softly, a sense of distaste in my mouth as I saw him kiss her neck, my lip curling slightly as I heard her giggle from his attention. I hated this part of our agreement, keeping our relationship a complete secret and having other partners in the open. As the Alpha’s sob, next in line for the position, he had every she-wolf vying for his attention. I on the other hand don’t have an endless parade of men. “Earth to Kara. You in there?” Echo asked with a rumble-like laugh, tapping me on the forehead with t
“Still fine with going to the bar and playing pool? The bar is in human territory so that makes it a neutral zone. A lot of other shifters and such flock to it.” Echo explained as he drove. I nodded with an enthusiastic smile. “Yeah, I’m looking forward to it. You and Ezra rave about this place so I want to see it for myself. Besides, you promised to teach me to play pool.” “Oh, I’m definitely going to teach you to play, get all close like.” He wiggled his eyebrows playfully, a low growl rumbling in his chest. I blushed softly at the suggestion his growl meant and bit my lip. “Well, I do like it when you get all close.” I responded with a low growl of my own, my hand rubbing his thigh. His chest rumbled with a deeper appreciative growl, his thigh gripping my thigh firmly. Not enough to hurt but enough to get his
Dixon and Ethan smiled and greeted Echo like the brother in arms he was, giving me a nod of acknowledgment in greeting as they waved down Norik and engaged Echo in conversation about the new training and patrol schedule the warriors had to follow. I sat in my chair and sipped my water, listening with a smile as Silas moved to a pretty girl a seat or two over from me and started flirting with her. I glanced over my shoulder at Jax as I felt him stand close to me, his arm brushing against my back. His dark eyes were on my face, looking me over with a soft frown.“Young Alpha. Did you need me to move?” I asked evenly, treating him with the respect any pack member would who isn’t close to him. He frowned harder and shook his head at me, taking a step closer and leaning down to talk to me.“What are you doing here Kara?”
As the night progressed the bar became more packed, the mix of scents becoming too overwhelming it left you almost nose blind. When karaoke started there were cheers for those that were great, and boos and jeers for those that weren’t. Overall though the bar was thrumming with energy and people were happy and just letting loose. At some point, an impromptu dance area formed and people packed together, dancing and thrumming on the energy that filled the bar. Torrance pulled me with her and forced our way into the mass of moving people, dancing and pulsing with all the other bodies. The accumulated shifter energy calling our wolves close to the surface, adding to the energy that pulled through everyone, the music secondary as all shifters fed off the energy, our animals close. With the number of different types of shifters, the energy was a tingling pulse across our skin, marking us out to our kind.
