The huge house was amazing and very impressive. Alpha Zach promised to give me a tour sometime soon. But not now. He wanted me to meet his friend Cassie, whom he had known for a long time.
I was just going to be here for his physical pleasure, so I did not get why he wanted me to meet the girl. He said that they grew up together before he became alpha. She didn’t have parents, and he seemed eager for us to meet.
At night, after I took a shower and had something to eat, I heard raised voices. I hesitated but couldn’t resist checking what was happening. I stood near the closed door of the Alpha’s room, where he was arguing with the Beta.
They were discussing something intense.
“I’m telling you, Mark, it’s not happening! I won’t find a mate, and that’s f*cking final!” Alpha Zach’s voice echoed through the hallway.
“But Zach, the pack needs a Luna. It’s been too long. You can’t keep avoiding this,” Beta Mark argued back.
“I said no, Mark!” His response was abrupt and cold.
“I can’t believe you’re still holding onto that promise, sir. It’s been years since Lilac’s death. It wasn’t your fault. You can find happiness again. You’re allowed to.”
“And you’re not my damn therapist, are you?” Zach’s tone was laced with bitterness. “I made a promise to Storm, and I won’t break it. Lilac’s death was because of my decisions. I can’t risk putting someone else I care about in danger.”
“I made a promise to my brother, Mark. I can’t just forget it, I can’t afford to. I don’t deserve a mate…it’s forbidden,” He added.
Their conversation unveiled a deep-rooted pain within the alpha, tied to a promise made to his brother Storm. The mention of forbidden love and the tragic circumstance of someone by the name of Lilac painted a picture of a troubled past.
I listened in on the conversation, absorbing the complexities of the guy. It was the best way to get to know him…I think. Because there would be no way that he would open up to me. At least not like that.
I was nothing to him but a paid hooker.
The weight of his decisions and the scars of his past became apparent, leaving me in a momentary state of shock.
Just as I lingered in the hallway, grappling with the newfound knowledge, my presence didn’t go unnoticed. The Alpha had spotted me, and man, his eyes burned with fury.
“What are you doing there, Rue? This is pack business; stay the hell out of it!” He snapped at me, causing my heart to skip a beat.
Startled, I stammered, “I…I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, Alpha Zack. I’ll mind my own business.”
Beta Mark echoed the sentiment, adding, “Yeah, stay out of pack matters, Omega.”
Feeling a mix of embarrassment and nervousness, I tried to flee from the scene, rushing away but then Cassie appeared out of nowhere, intercepting me with a sly grin.
“Caught eavesdropping, Rue?” Not the best way to make a first impression, is it?”
I blushed, realizing my intrusion into their private conversation. Cassie, however, added a touch of humor, “Don’t worry; it’s a common mistake around here. Just remember to steer clear of Alpha’s Zach’s business. And your name is Rue, right?”
I nodded. “Yes, it is.” My feigned confidence that I had at the club had now faded.
Let’s be honest, I could not keep that charade up for the next two weeks, it would be too draining.
I knew that she was the Cassie that the alpha had talked about because the face and body frame just fitted for me.
She looked perfect, just how he had described her. She looked like someone that could be the Luna of our pack.
Plus, she was the only female in the villa that was not not an omega or maid. So yeah, she was obviously Cassie.
Cassie, with an air of familiarity, leaned in, her eyes glinting with a playful yet knowing expression. "You know, Rue, Zach can be a bit mysterious about certain things, but we're a family here. No need to hide anything."
Caught off guard, I hesitated, wondering how much Cassie really knew. "I'm just here for a temporary gig, helping out during the rut weeks," I replied, keeping my tone neutral.
She smirked, her eyes narrowing in a way that hinted at a deeper understanding. "Rut weeks, huh? Zach's way of ensuring he's not alone during those... intense times. But hey, we all have our quirks, right?"
I nodded, relieved that she didn't pry further. Yet, her casual acknowledgment of Zach's unconventional arrangements left me both intrigued and wary.
As the evening went on, Cassie effortlessly shifted the talk to fun stories and jokes. The easy bond between her and Alpha Zach revealed a friendship strong enough to withstand the pack's challenges.
Eventually, she led me through the sprawling mansion, sharing stories of their shared past. "Zach and I go way back, Rue. We've seen each other through thick and thin. It's not easy being an Alpha, you know, and having a friend like him makes it bearable."
Her words resonated with a sense of genuine friendship, making it clear that her connection with Zach extended beyond mere pack loyalty.
As the night unfolded, Cassie's effortless charm and genuine warmth put me at ease, overshadowing the underlying tension that lingered within the villa.
But I had a bad feeling about her. There was this evil in her eyes that I could not explain.
The night continued, and as laughter echoed through the luxurious halls, a subtle tension remained.
Cassie excused herself, claiming the need for rest, and Beta Mark departed for his home, leaving only Alpha Zach and me in the vast mansion.
Zach, despite the jovial atmosphere with Cassie, wore a dark aura. His face betrayed a mental strain that hinted at the weight of his responsibilities.
An hour later, I found myself near the living room, engrossed in a book I had stumbled upon.
Alpha Zach emerged from his room, his eyes piercing and focused. He suggested a walk, an attempt to escape the looming stress that clung to him.
I hesitated, reluctant to engage further, but his authoritative insistence left me with little choice.
Out in the moonlit night, the air carried a sense of heaviness. Zach, usually reserved, broke the silence. "Rue, you've heard more than you should tonight. Pack matters are complicated."
His voice, though stern, held a note of vulnerability. I cautiously replied, "I understand, Alpha Zach. I didn't mean to intrude."
He sighed, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon. "There are things in my past, promises made, mistakes that can't be undone. It's a burden I carry."
Unsure of how to respond, I simply nodded. The weight of his words hung between us, and the silence spoke volumes. The complexities of his role as Alpha and the unresolved pain from his past were evident.
As we strolled through the moonlit grounds, Zach's inquiries turned towards me. "Tell me, Rue, what brought you here? What's your story? I know your job and all that but who are you?"
I hesitated, navigating the delicate balance between honesty and the facade I was expected to maintain. "Just trying to make a living, Alpha. Nothing more."
His eyes bore into mine, a mix of curiosity and something else I couldn't quite decipher. "Everyone has a story, Rue. You can trust me."
The air grew thick with unspoken truths. I maintained the façade, deflecting his questions. "Private lives should remain private, Alpha. It's better that way."
Zach's expression tightened, a flicker of frustration crossing his face. "You're under my protection, Rue. I need to know who's under my roof."
As we continued our walk, the moon casting shadows on secrets yet to unfold, the subtle threat in his words lingered—an ominous reminder of the power dynamic at play.
Little did I know, beneath the moonlit facade of protection, a storm brewed, threatening to shatter the fragile balance within the mansion's walls.
The tension hung thick in the air as we continued our walk, Alpha Zach’s eyes searching mine for answers. I could not shake the feeling that my secrets were like time bombs waiting to go off. Zach, still focused, spoke with a mix of authority and concern, “Rue, you can’t keep everything locked up. Trust matters in this pack.”“I know, but it’s just an agreement, I’m only here for a job, remember that. In the same way, you don’t get to know your plumber or electrician but allow them to do their jobs, I’d suggest you do the same for me,” I replied in a monotone.“And some things are just better left unsaid,” I added, shrugging. He then stopped, leaning against a garden bench, his posture less rigid. “Well, as I said, you’re now under my roof. I can’t just let a stranger stay with me for the next two weeks. Trust goes both ways.” It was a weird mix of being under his protection but also feeling the pressure to open up. Memories of being back at the orphanage sparked in my mind and a s
I nodded, a knot of anxiety tightening in my stomach. The Beta’s words lingered in the air, and the weight of the mansion’s secrets pressed down on me. “Thanks for the heads-up,” I managed to mumble, attempting a casual tone that betrayed unease beneath. Mark offered a curt nod, and we parted ways. Alone in the hallway, I contemplated the delicate balance I was trying to maintain. The truth felt like a fragile thread slipping through my fingers, and I couldn’t afford it to snap. And the crazy thing was that I had not even spent 24 hours here yet. He walked away and I simply went into the fancy bathroom. It took me a while to figure out how everything worked there but after I had, I took one of the longest showers ever. I had showered with cold water for the longest so now using hot water seemed amazing. I then wrapped a heated towel around my body and headed back to my new room. I met clothes laid out on the now-made bed. The clothes were casual…and seemed to blend seamlessly wit
After a moment, I pushed myself off the floor, my determination steadying my trembling limbs. I needed to distract myself. I was already here and there was no turning back. I needed to take my mind off the looming threat of the truth coming out. I opened the door, wiped my face with the back of my hand, and sniffled as I headed for the living room. It was where I had left it. While heading there, I met Cassie, she was headed there too. She had some popcorn in her hand and a drink. She wiggled her eyes at me and then said, “Where are you heading, omega?” “The living room, I left a book there that I was reading,” I replied, being careful not to look into her eyes. “Zach and Mark are gone. They went to attend to the affairs of the pack. So you can relax, stop being so stuck up.” She raised one of her eyebrows. “Oh…” I did not know what to say, honestly. “I won’t bite. I know what Zach does by this time every year. His rut comes and he brings a slut or two to help quench his sexual
It was a few days later and I had gotten more comfortable in the villa. Cassie and Mark still had their suspicions of me and did not like me even though pretended to. As for Mother Teresa, she still had no idea where I was. She had appeared multiple times on the news but I was always there to find a way to make sure that the people in the villa did not watch her. The Alpha was still reserved, even though at times he would try to be warm towards me. He had not touched my body since I came here and although he was hot and very attractive, I was glad he had not. Because for one, I was a virgin and had not been with any man in my entire life. I had promised myself that the only one I would allow to have my body would be my mate. And since I had not found one yet, I had no plans on giving myself away. But the crazy thing was that because I wanted to be free from Mother Teresa and be able to help my friends back there, I had placed myself in this situation where I was expected to surren
My mind raced with fear as his touch intensified. I could feel his finger, it was going deeper. The room seemed to close in on me, and every instinct screamed at me to resist. But fear paralyzed me, leaving me vulnerable to the desire of the Alpha. Zach’s eyes bore into mine, an intensity that sent shivers down my spine. I felt a mix of confusion, fear, and a strange warmth that I could not comprehend. My body betrayed my mind’s protests, responding to his touch in a way I could not control. As he continued, his movements became more demanding, and I could not suppress the gasps and moans escaping my lips. The internal struggle between my principles and the circumstances I encountered reached a breaking point. “F*ck, you’re so tight…why are you…why are you so tight?” He stopped immediately, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion as he stared at me, waiting for an answer. My breathing was heavy and my heart was racing. And that was not just because I was nervous. Before I could say a
I gripped the duvet and made sure that none of the parts of my body was exposed. “I…um…the night that I approached you and your Beta, before then, I was disguised as a guy waiter,” I began, my throat dry. “But when I overheard some of your conversations, I couldn't resist. I needed money desperately for my escape from Mother Teresa's grip, and also needed protection." I paused, anxiously awaiting his reaction. "So, I pretended to be a waiter and heard you guys talking about your special weeks and secret contracts," I explained nervously. "I didn't mean to pry, but I was desperate for a way out of my miserable life at the orphanage." Alpha Zach's expression softened slightly as he absorbed my words. "You were just trying to survive," he observed, his gaze less intense. "But still…” he shook his head. “This is not okay, omega.” “My name is Rue,” I reminded him. “I know, I know,” he brushed me off. “I have no choice but to send you back though. You fooled me. And it’s not my respon
Alpha Zach held up a hand, attempting to quell the rising tension. “Cassie, Mark, let’s all take a moment to process this. Rue came clean, and we must find a solution to ensure her safety.” He sounded understanding.Cassie crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing. “Safety? The hell? How do we know she’s not playing us, Zach? She lied to us, to you! She’s nothing but a con artist, and good for nothing golddigger. And now you want us to believe she’s some helpless omega needing protection?”I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. “Please…please hear me out. I understand your skepticism, but it’s the truth. Mother Teresa runs a cruel orphanage, and I needed a way out. I never intended for things to get this complicated.”Beta Mark glared at me, his tone accusatory. “And why should we believe you now? You’ve already proven you’re good at spinning lies.” Zach stepped forward, sighing, and his gaze firm. “I can vouch for her sincerity. At least I’d like to think that. I’m not happy a
Riding back in the Ferrari with Alpha Zach, silence lingered. I wish there was some noise, I really did. Even if that was just going to be a soft hum from the radio, I’d prefer that. But nothing. I felt watched even though he was focused on the road. “I am…I am so very sorry for what I have put you through,” I broke the quiet. He glanced at me, a look on his face that I could not decipher. “Rue Belmond, you’re a burden.”His words made a dent in my heart, stinging like salt on a wound. “Yeah, I know,” I replied softly as I stared at my hands, tears forming in my eyes. “But I feel like meeting you was destiny, or whatever sappy sh*t that those romantics be saying,” He continued, putting his focus back on the road. “Damn, I can’t believe that I just spent six-million dollars on an omega that I can’t even have in my bed.” “Why do you think it’s destiny?” I looked at him. His side profile was immaculate. “Because you are the reason I found out the dirty truth that Mother Teresa has
