Twenty Five

"Did he say anything else? Anything useful related to Jake or you?" Rex asked. Their attentions went on Rex's question, looking at Tristan for an answer.

Tristan looked up, lost in his thoughts as he recalled his conversation with Fret. The fucker said a lot of thing but they were all nonsense in his ears. He even stopped listening a few seconds after Fret started talking. But he did catch the important ones.

"Yes. He said we were needed for an examination after the experiment" They looked at each other with questioning looks. Even he didn't understand what Fret meant. He was so confuse at that time.

"Experiment?" Roy said with a questioning look, "What experiment?" He asked Tristan. Tristan shook his head, "I don't know. Jake and I have always been together after his parents death. We have never been separated neither have we been taken to an unknown place or laboratory before"

"What else did he say" Marie asked, "He said after that, we will be sold to other worst packs. That's only after the former pack gets tired of us. You know what I mean" lvan pulled Tristan into his arms. "Don't worry, I won't let them get their hands on you" lvan assured him.

"Anything else?" Roy asked, "Not that I can think of" Tristan answered. "Do tell us if you remember anything else" Corey said. Tristan nodded before looking at Lvan. "I'm tired lvan, I want to rest"

"Okay, baby" lvan answered with a smile on his face. "But you haven't had any dinner" Marie interjected.

"Don't worry mom, I'm okay. I'm really tired"

"Okay, take him to rest lvan" Marie said. "Okay mom. Goodnight everyone"

"Goodnight" they responded. Lvan helped Tristan up, held his waist as they left together for their room.

"We're also leaving, goodnight" Jack announced. He held his wife's hand as they also left for their room. "Goodnight mom, dad" Rex said with the others adding, "Goodnight"

"Ah, so tired" Zane said, sighing. "I guess we also have to go sleep" he said. He was about to get up when Rex said, "Wait! I need to talk to you" They shared a look, wondering what Rex possibly wanted to talk about.

Whatever they wanted to take about, Roy wanted no part. He was too tired. Not only that, he also had to talk with Even before he could go to bed. His brother was acting weird and he wanted to help him get over whatever he was going through.

"Okay, I'm also retiring to my room. Goodnight" Roy exclaimed and left for his room. Then again, maybe he could talk with his brother tomorrow. Tonight just wasn't possible.

After watching Roy's figure disappear to the hallway, they gave Rex their attention. "What do you want to talk about?" Corey asked. Rex was acting odd tonight. What could he possibly have to say?

"Okay, I'm also leaving" Colten said with a smile, looking at Rex, Sebastian, Corey and Zane, not sparing Chris a single glance. Chris wanted Colten to look at him, just a single glance but his friend did no such thing. He said nothing else and just left for his room.

Rex, Sebastian, Corey and Zane looked at Chris before looking at Colten with a look that says 'Are they still not on good terms?' Watching Colten till his figure disappear from the staircases, they snapped out of the awkwardness in the room.

Corey cleared his throat, trying to clear the awkwardness by saying, "Ah, so, R—Rex what did you want to talk about?"

"Y—Yes, it sounded important, what is it?" Zane add. Rex looked at Chris, realising they were trying to lift up the mood.

"Oh, yes, I just wanted to say" Rex looked up at Corey with an apologetic look. "Corey, I'm sorry for the way I treated you months ago, no, I'm sorry to you for the way I've treated you all these years. I'm sorry for pushing you away and saying harsh words to you" Rex said, avoiding their gazes with a sad expression. He just didn't know what to say and all he could say was what he just said.

'Damn it! This is fucking hard' he thought. He slowly lifted up his head to look at them. Meeting their eyes, he witnessed how shock they were. They looked at Rex with widened eyes Zane's mouth was even hang open.

Were they imaging? Was this an illusion? Was it real? Rex Ash was apologizing to them?

"I'll do anything for you to forgive me. I just want your friendship back" Rex said, this time looking at them right in the eyes. The shock still hadn't wear off and Rex just had to add another.

Chris who still hasn't left after the embarrassing scene of Colten ignoring him, was so proud of Rex as he witnessed the scene. He wanted to know what Rex wanted to talk about and that was why he stayed behind.

He was glad Rex finally opened his eyes to the beauty around. Rex used to walk around with eyes and heart closed. That was until Tristan came and now..... Here he was, apologizing.

He had watched Rex, Sebastian, Zane Corey's interaction growing up. They were always around him, protecting him, shielding him and being the good friends they are but Rex never knowledge them or their kindness. 'He might have thought they were forced to be around him' Chris thought. Hell! Even Rex didn't allow him in his precious little world even though they were friends.

Friends? Did Rex even knowledge their friendship? He was older than him but that didn't mean they couldn't be friends. Colten said the same to him when he asked him if Rex would accept their friendship.

Chris lived for friendship and without one, he might actually die! 'What the fuck! That's too dramatic' he thought.

He looked back at the scene, waiting for the three musketeers' reply just like Rex.

After some seconds in shock mode, the three cleared their throats at the same time to clear the fog of shock. They looked back at Rex.

"Rex, we.....we weren't coming to you because we were ordered to or had selfish intentions. We just wanted to be friends with you. That was it" Corey said. "I know. It was all my fault for having just dirty thoughts"

"You make it sound like something else Rex. Don't use the word dirty" Sebastian said, looking around to see if someone heard what Rex said. He flinched when he saw Chris, staring at them with a smile on his face.

"You heard"

"I most certainly did" Chris answered. Corey, Zane and Rex smiled as they shared a look.

"Don't worry Rex. Everything is in the past now. As long as you realise your mistake and the truth, everything is fine" Corey said with a smile. Rex looked up at him with a grateful smile on his face. "Thank you. I promise I won't fail you this time"

"We hope so" Zane said and they laughed. "What about me?" Chris asked with pouty lips. They turned to look at him, smiling. Chris looked cute for a big alpha like him.

"I did get any apologize" he said. Rex got up, walked towards Chris and sat beside him. "I apologize, please forgive me?" Rex said, looking like a puppy apologizing to its owner for playing in the living room and messing up the room.

Seeing that look, Chris couldn't help but smile. Now, how could he not forgive him? "This kid" Chris said, rustling Rex's hair. A smile spread on Rex's lips as he thought, 'I won'. He gave a victory smile at Sebastian, Corey and Zane even going as far as winking at them. The three musketeers smile at Rex's actions.

'He really always do get whatever he went' they thought, looking at Rex and Chris who was rustling his hair.
