Chapter Nine

"Miss?" Eleanor's personal maid gave her shoulders a slight shove, hoping it'd get her out of the deep slumber. "Miss, you have to wake up now."

Eleanor forced her eyes open at the maid's interruption of her sleep and squinted hard at the figure above her. A blurred image of the maid's face hovered over hers. She squeezed her eyes shut again. The sun was barely out. What was it this time?

"Just five more minutes," she murmured, cocooning the fluffy sheets closer to her body and turning the other way. Her maid chuckled at her reply. She'd heard that phrase before to know it was a blatant lie. Eleanor would lay on that bed and it wouldn't be just for five minutes.

She then moved to the windows and drew the curtains back, letting in bright streams of sunlight that permeated the room, forcing Eleanor to crack her eyes back open. There she was praying the sun didn't come out to play yet. It glared into her room until it almost hurt her eyes.

"What time is it?" Eleanor asked.

"I'm not sure.
