Ep 1.

Kayla’s POV.

"Sign the contract, Kayla, and I promise to do as you wish!! But the second you return, I won't hesitate to kill her!!"

************

"Who would have ever thought I would return to the Ravenwood pack?" Joy surged through my soul as I came out from the airport, clutching my bag tightly.

A warm smile adorned my face, and for the first time in a long while, the feeling of being home was both good and refreshing.

This was my pack, the very same pack where my family and I had lived, where I celebrated my eighteenth birthday. It was an occasion worth smiling and celebrating.

As I basked in the happiness of returning to the pack, the painful memories that had driven me away resurfaced, abruptly pulling me out of my joyful trance.

My once-smiling face contorted into a frown.

"No! Not now! I can't think about her now!" I shook my head, tightly shutting my eyes momentarily in an attempt to banish the painful thoughts.

However, to my surprise, I was abruptly halted in my tracks by a tender grip from behind.

A jolting vibration ran through me, and without hesitation, I turned around to identify the person responsible for the unexpected interruption.

Turning on my heels to investigate the source of the tender grip that had halted my steps, I was immediately surprised to find a little girl smiling up at me, her small arms wrapped around me in a tight embrace.

She appeared to be around five years old, and there was an unmistakable sense that she, too, felt the joy of her return.

"Hey there!" I chuckled, lowering myself to one knee to meet her at eye level.

My hand instinctively reached for her cheek, and as my fingertips made contact with her skin, a familiar and exciting surge coursed through my veins.

'What just happened?' I wondered, swiftly withdrawing my hand from her face.

The little girl seemed oddly familiar, and her infectious smile etched itself into my memory.

Glancing around and seeing no one rushing to get her back, my curiosity deepened.

"What's your name, little girl, and why are you here alone?" I inquired, locking eyes with her, searching for recognition in the depths of those familiar eyes.

"Oh, I'm not here alone. I am here with my dad, and my name is…" she began to say when a deep, soothing voice called her from behind.

"Adora!!"

My attention snapped to the source of the voice, and for the first time in a long while, my heart didn't just beat; it thumped rapidly at his presence.

Slowly standing to my feet, my gaze became buried and lost in his, feeling an overwhelming rush of love and excitement.

He was muscular, his chin perfectly shaped, his body the kind that any girl would envy, the type that any Omega would yearn to hold in her arms.

Each step he took, drawing closer to Adora and me, intensified my breath and quickened my racing heart.

"Daddy!!" Little Adora joyfully called as she rushed towards him, embracing him tightly with a radiant smile on her face.

"Daddy?" I mumbled, stunned to realise that the young, handsome, and enchanting man before me was not only married but also had a child.

The thought left me questioning the assumptions I had made, and a mix of emotions stirred within me as I grappled with this unexpected twist.

He lifted Adora into his arms and approached where I stood.

As he halted before me, I found myself revelling in his enticing scent, something that stirred my inner wolf and provoked a primal response.

"Thank you for helping me hold onto her; she can be sneaky most times," he remarked, his hand playfully pinching Adora's cheeks in a heartwarming manner.

"Oh... yeah!" I stuttered, momentarily unsure of how I had momentarily lost myself in my thoughts.

"It's nothing…" I added, feeling a hint of embarrassment wash over me.

I contemplated leaving them alone but was halted by Adora's unexpected and startling request.

"Please, will you be my Mommy? I want you as my Mommy!" Her sweet, tender voice filled the air, triggering memories of my own daughter.

The thought crossed my mind that she would have been around Adora's age if she were still with me.

"Mommy!" Adora's voice brought me back to the present, and I found myself taking a step backward, caught off guard by the unexpected request.

"What?" I mumbled, my mind racing as I grappled with the sudden turn of events.

"Pardon her, Adora already has a Mommy!" He apologised, a rare display of humility that seemed out of character for him.

"I understand; it's not like I wanted to be her mom, you know!" I forced a laugh, realising that I had unintentionally voiced my thoughts aloud.

'Fuck me!' I cussed inwardly, briefly shutting my eyes in frustration.

"It's fine… we will be leaving now. Thank you," he stated, his voice deep, and this time, a frown marred his usually composed face.

Turning around, I made my way to find a cab, but each time I glanced back, his captivating gaze seemed to follow me.

There was a familiarity about him and the child, yet uncertainty lingered in my mind regarding the details.

Soon, I found myself in a cab, en route to my best friend's house for a moment of relaxation before heading to the inauguration.

As I reached the door and rang the bell, it promptly swung open to reveal Willson, my best friend, who had a knack for bringing a smile to my face.

"Well, look at that, my princess is right here after so many years!" Willson pulled me into a tight embrace, planting a friendly kiss on my cheek, which brought a genuine smile to my face.

"Come on, Willson, I'm not a child anymore, and you know that, right?" I warned playfully as I entered his house.

Seated on his couch, I requested water, and he promptly brought it for me.

"So tell me, how was your flight back, and how do you feel coming back here after what she did to you?" Willson inquired, a tinge of anger evident in his tone.

"My trip was fine, and I don't want to talk about that! By the way…" I paused, placing the cup of water down, my mind drifting back to the meeting with Adora at the airport.

"Do you know anyone called Adora?" I asked, but Willson shook his head.

"I don't, and that isn't what you should be thinking about right now! Your inauguration will be starting soon; you should get ready. I heard your stepmom will be there too!"

His words instantly put me on edge. If there was anyone or anything I disliked in the world, it was the presence of my stepmom and stepsister.
