A captivating story, the mixed up he/she for the characters is a bit disjointing and would be great to see them edited so the story flows better. I do love reading stories with female characters who are strong, thanks ...

Chapter 1
AUDREY I have the best boss and the best job in the world. Although many people tell me that being a secretary is not a big deal in the world, for me it is.My mother has been criticizing my job for years, and it's not because I value what I do less, she knows I'm good, but because she wanted me to get a higher position. But my father always supports me and gives me the strength I need to keep going. My parents are the best, I've never complained about them, I adore them the way they are and even though Ronny is not my biological father, for me it's as if he is. He married my mother when I was eight years old, since then he is the only man I have kept in my life. And is that he had known how to win my heart, just by loving and taking care of my mother, with that he already had my respect and my affection.Like all my routine mornings, I get up as soon as my alarm goes off, I go straight to the bathroom and he cleaned me up. A few minutes later I go out and get dressed quickly.Black s

DANIEL " Mother, I've told you a million times that I don't need a girlfriend to show off to society, my private life belongs to me and not to others," he complained to me over my cell phone horn."It's about time you settle down son, your father has an eye on you about that," he pronounces, "that will help you keep your place in the company, he has said it.I doubt that, until now my father was still the CEO of the Crawford Company, he didn't want to pass the position on to me because he didn't fully trust me. And she was doing everything to get me a girlfriend, so that way I could show my dad that I'm really taking my life seriously. The only thing that matters to my father is business, that he gets to know that his son has fucked a large part of the women who live in London, that will only help to damage my reputation more in front of him, and I didn't want that." I must cut the call, the plane is about to take off," the fact was more than anything not to be hearing the same old t

AUDREY I rush to my desk the next day. My entrance is at eight o'clock, but I always arrive fifteen or twenty minutes earlier, only today Mr. Anthony asked to come earlier, I still didn't know why.I just hope it's not to kick me out, although if it is, I don't think he'll take the time and trouble to tell me, much less call me to show up so early. Besides, it seemed urgent." Audrey." Maggi calls me as I pass through the hallway. I had to take out some copies before returning to Mr. Anthony's office." Yeah? - I stop for a moment." What's the matter? I'm in a hurry." I missed to warn you about something when you arrived, it's that you passed by so fast that I barely managed to see you.It makes me remember the new marathon that threw me back a moment ago when I arrived." Yes, I'm sorry." I apologize. "I just have a lot of pending." You always have them, but it's understandable, you're the secretary of the presidency," she smiles kindly. "Oh, it's about Jonathan, the advertising di

AUDREYIn a hurry, I arrive at my desk the next day. My regular entry time is at eight, but I always come fifteen or twenty minutes early. However, today Mr. Anthony asked me to come in earlier, and I still didn't know why.I just hope it's not to fire me, although if that's the case, I don't think he would bother to tell me or even call me to come in so early. Besides, it seemed urgent."Audrey," Maggi calls as I pass by the hallway. I needed to make some copies before returning to Mr. Anthony's office."Yes?" I stop for a moment. "What's up? I'm in a hurry.""I forgot to tell you something when you arrived. You were in such a rush that I could barely catch you."It reminds me of the new marathon I had a moment ago when I arrived."Yes, I'm sorry," I apologize. "I have a lot on my plate.""You always do, but it's understandable. You're the president's secretary," she smiles kindly. "Oh, it's about Jonathan, the advertising director. AUDREYi am still recovering from what my eyes witnessed earlier. To find an unknown man having oral sex in my boss's office, it was a very disturbing thing. My heart was still beating hard, my hands are sweating and shaking due to nervousness.I was stupid, I don't know why I didn't call before I came in, because I assumed no one was there. I try to stay calm, I'm not going to make him see me when he comes out and think I'm just standing there because he wanted to see. I'm not that kind of person. He straightened me up when the office door opens. Quickly he hurried me to my place and I take a seat. The girl who was with that man inside, comes out.She is tall and blonde, with a long mane that barely lets me see her face. Once he walks past my desk, he barks his head at me and smiles at me.This is Mr. William's secretary. I don't know all the staff in the building, because there are many employees who work here, but I remember her very well, because she used to flirt with my ex-boyfr

DANIEL"I don't know how Anthony put up with her and didn't fire her. I hope you do, nephew," Willy comments."I've never understood why you don't like her. Audrey is a kind and hardworking girl," Fabian reveals."For working and staying here, kindness is not enough. And yes, perhaps she works hard, but she's incompetent. The position of the presidential secretary is too much for her. That girl will never get it together."After the employee left, my uncle and cousin have been discussing her. I was surprised to find out that she would be the secretary I'll be working with.First impressions are always crucial, and she didn't make the best one; in fact, she saw nothing good. What impressed me the most was that she didn't say anything about what she saw in my father's former office, nor did she bring it up later. Maybe she's keeping it to herself for now.She doesn't seem like someone who lets others help her or stays quiet about something she doesn't like. In the short time I spent wit

AUDREY"I want to quit," I say out loud."Oh, don't be a complainer. It's just one more lap, and we're done," Nelly comments between breaths. "Come on, don't stop, we're almost there."She's got me running laps in the park. Every morning, she comes here to jog, and she made me promise to accompany her every day. However, my job hasn't allowed me time for much else other than my work at Crawford Enterprises.I admit I've neglected my activities and many other things in my personal life. But honestly, jogging is just not my thing. After completing the last lap we had to run, I head to the nearest bench and collapse, trying to catch my breath. I'm exhausted, more like dead."Finally," I say, bringing a water bottle to my lips to take a sip."If there was time, I'd drag you to the gym," Nelly says."You hate me," I protest. "Just like my new boss."Until now, I dared not to mention him, not wanting to accept that I have a new boss, and that same guy is the shameless man I found having ora

AUDREYThat's how I spent the rest of the morning, filing and organizing all the documents for the new campaign discussed in the last meeting. The day wouldn't be enough to finish all the pending work; I'll have to take something home to continue, hoping not to stay up too late. The phone on my desk rings, and I react quickly to answer it. The workload had overwhelmed me."President's office, Crawford. Audrey Turner speaking," I say automatically, like an answering machine."At what time will you bring me the documents I asked for?" My new boss's deep voice comes through the phone line. "Miss?"I hadn't realized that I remained silent for a long time. I don't know what I was expecting, but he was waiting for a response from me."Oh, yes, yes," I reply in a high but clumsy tone."Yes?" he inquires, and I can't tell if I imagined a small laugh escaping his lips without abandoning his serious tone."Yes, I already have them ready. I'll be right there," I try to control my nerves. "I'll b

DANIEL"Mother, I'm not interested in any of those women," I point to the screen of my computer, "or any others you want to match me with in the future.""But Daniel, you need to get a girlfriend and introduce her to your father, and it doesn't seem like you're doing anything about it. So let me handle it; I'll choose the right one for you."I sigh in exasperation. When will she understand?"I don't need you to look for one, and I'll find someone on my own without you being involved.""Do you already have someone in mind?" she asks, raising her eyebrows."Sort of," I partly lie because I do have someone in mind."No," she denies, "You can't choose her; you'll do it wrong.""Why not?" I exclaim, "You're not telling me to find a girl and pretend she's my girlfriend, and now you say I can't choose her. Mother, I'm not your toy.""Son, don't be angry," she gets up from her seat and approaches me, "I just want the best for you, and if you're going to settle down like your father wants, it'

AUDREYIt was past ten, and I turned off the TV, put on a sleeveless shirt and some shorts for pajamas, and slipped under the sheets of my bed. Seconds later, I considered sending a message to Nelly. The doubt about why this Daniel guy wanted information about my private life was gnawing at my head.Anyway, even if I called her, she wouldn't answer or even reply to a message. It's Friday night, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's currently at some night bar dancing with other friends.Saturday morning, finally. I'll take advantage of the day to go to my favorite bookstore and buy another book. I've already finished the last novel I bought, and all the ones on my shelf have been more leafed through and read than the Bible.I prepare a quick breakfast to leave early, and when I'm ready and about to walk out the door, I bump into my friend."Good morning!" she exclaims, entering the apartment. No, not now.I love my friend, but I also want some time alone, is that too much to ask for?S
