Chapter 3: Thank you

The visitors greeted him one after the other as we entered his home. His house is as big as the mansions I'm seeing in the movies. I looked at the person next to me who was still talking to his guests. I've been standing by his side for a while now but no one has noticed me yet.

Jake took a glance at me and held my hand. "Aunt Helen, this is Ash my date for tonight," Jake introduced me to them. I gave them a small but sweet smile. "She's currently taking Business Management in TSU." he is still proud but it seems like it doesn't matter to those who are in front of us.

He excused himself for a moment when someone talked to him. I gave the people in front of us my best smile and then held out my hand.

"Hi! I'm Ash and I am currently taking up Busin-" I said and was immediately cut off by an old woman whom I didn't know.

"Are you repeating yourself? Jake already introduced you. We don't need to hear your voice dear," she smiled at me but it was obviously fake and sarcastic. I lowered my hand in shame and bowed my head. I even heard her companions say goodbye before leaving.

You thought I wanted to come here? Well, if I didn't need money, maybe I wouldn't be here right now in front of this party. I tried to look for Jake when I saw that the person he was talking to a while ago was already talking to someone else, but I could not find him.

How can I find him here? There's a lot of people. Even if I spend all my time looking for him, I would still not find him. We didn't talk about the things I need to do. My job is to keep him entertained but how will I do that if he's nowhere to be found?

I continued to look for him when suddenly, I bumped into a drinks' server, causing my clothes to get spilled by those beverages, exposing my clevage and chest.

"Ma'am, I'm s-sorry I didn't m-meant..." the server said nervously.

"No, it's okay. I'm sorry too, it's my fault." I politely said. "Oh no! D-Don't touch me! I m-mean I can handle it by myself," I said when he tried to wipe my chest. I saw the second thought on his face but I hurried past it when I noticed that we were grabbing the attention of others.

Finally, I breathed. I looked at my feet that have been hurting for a while now. I sat on one of the swings and removed the high heels I was wearing. What the hell is that, where is that man going? I've been looking for him for a while but still... I couldn't find him.

I couldn't call him because I left my phone in his car. The music playing inside can still be heard outside.

I took a deep breath and looked at the sky.

The sky is now surrounded by millions of stars. While observing the sky, I thought of the things I am willing to do for my dreams, and for my family. They are the light of my life. If heaven has the stars and moon to light it up whenever darkness comes, I have my own family to light up my world.

More than half an hour passed that I was sitting there but the fun that was happening inside did not change. And until now, Jake still hasn't showing himself to me.

Actually, he doesn't know where I am now. I put my sandal back on before going back inside.

When I went back inside, I immediately saw the man I had been looking for. He holds wine in his right hand while talking to two men and a woman.

Good thing, I don't have to go around the whole house again just to look for this man. Just one look at the men he's talking to and you'll know they're powerful too. Meanwhile, the woman was shining in her blue dress. There's no word that can be used to describe her beauty.

"Jake I think you have to study his proposal thoroughly before accepting it. The company might lose millions if you accept it without having a thorough study." I heard the woman said as I come nearer to them.

"You don't need to remind me that, Allis. I've studied it and his proposal is good."

"It might ruin your plans, Jake. You know that they are greedy right? They would do everything for power. And now that your family is the second most powerful among all, they could take advantage of your weakness!"

I slowly came closer to them so I could hear more of what they were talking about. I know that this is a private matter but I really need to talk to Jake.

"I don't have any weakness, Allis. Besides, Allison is a nice girl."

"Don't tell me you like that fucking-"

"Uhmm, excuse me," I interrupted what the woman was saying and gave her an apologetic look. I moved my eyes to Jake who was now frowning at me. "I've been looking for you for a while now, I've been around the whole party but I can't find you. I didn't know I could only see you here." I whispered to him then I looked at the people he was talking to and gave them a big smile.

I saw how the two men returned my smile. They were about to ask something when Jake held my arm that made me look at him. I even heard the two men whispering to each other... but I just coudn't hear them as my attention was grabbed by Jake.

"Where have you been? I've been looking for you for a while now," he then excused us to the persons whom he was talking to.

Look at this, he didn't even apologize for leaving me earlier! And he still had the courage to ask where I went? He was the first one who disappeared! If he hadn't left me with those girls earlier, I wouldn't have been lost.

He took me outside where I rested earlier. "I already told you that the party will be full of people. Where did you go?" he frowned when our eyes met.

"Well, if you hadn't left me with the girls you were talking to earlier, I wish I wouldn't have disappeared. Also, I looked for you, but since I couldn't see you, I just went out here to rest." I told him without breaking my eye contact with him.

He took a deep breath and then grabbed my shoulder. "Look. It's not my fault if you got lost. Let me remind you what your job is. To keep me entertained and satisfied all the damn time. But on the first day, you didn't do it. Always stay beside me. Wherever I go, just stay beside me." he continued to saying to me.

I know what my job is and why I'm here. But I hope he also knows that I can't do that without him. How can I make him happy if he suddenly disappears in an instant?

"I know what my job is, sir." I emphasized the word "Sir". "I haven't forgotten that. But I hope you also know that I can't do my job without you by my side."

"Exactly! And did I already tell you to stop calling me sir? Call me by name." he said before asking me to come in again.

Huh! Take a look at this man, I can't believe him! With everything I said, what I called him still prevailed over him. He told me that the reason why he disappeared earlier was because he was called to the stage to give a message. Well, I didn't know that because the things said by the rude women earlier dominated my brain.

I followed him in and to every person we crossed by he greeted and introduced me. Jake is now talking to a couple with their daughter.

The girl has a blonde long hair, fair skin, chunky eyes, and pink full lips. The girl's smile towards Jake is something. Hmmm, I know that look very well. She likes him, doesn't she? Well, who wouldn't right? With the good face, wealth and successful life, and hot body... he really has it all.

"Jake, this is my daughter Carren. She's in her last year in college." the man in a tux introduced his daughter.

Jake offered his hand to Carren in which Carren immediately accepted it. "I'm Jake, nice to meet you." he then smiled.

I looked down at their hands that are still holding each other. Can you let go, right? She's enjoying it, isn't she?

"It's nice to meet you too, Jake. I've heard a lot about you and seeing you right now, I think everyone was really right about you." she even reached out Jake's hand and briefly stroked the back of his hand with her fingers!

"I wish that those are purely compliments and good, eh?" looking down at their hands, they are still holding each other's hands.

The girl laughed and was about to answer when I interrupted their conversation. I sniffed which caused their attention to fall on me.

I smiled at Carren and then I politely removed their hands that are until now, are clasped together.

"I am Ash, the date of Jake. It's nice to meet you!" I said while holding his hand.

She frowned at me but I just smirked at her. He's mine, bitch.

Our gaze was only interrupted when someone grabbed my waist. I looked at it and saw that Jake was also looking down at me while biting his lip as if he was happy with what he was witnessing.

He bid his goodbye to the people he was talking to and then we left. I noticed the objection on Carren's face but I just ignored it.

It's up to her if she objects. I know there is nothing she can do. I don't know why I'm suddenly annoyed with Jake and myself. I wasn't like this before?

Annoying!

"Hmmm I wouldn't be surprised if Carren suddenly fell down the floor right now." Jake smirked at me.

I frowned at him, asking him what he meant by that. I then realized that I was already killing Carren through my mind right now.

I took a deep breath and looked up at him. "Aren't we going home yet?" I asked to divert the topic.

His eyes became gentle. He tucked some strands of my hair beside my ear. "Are you already tired? We can go now-" Jake said which I immediately cut off.

"No, I can go home by myself... and aren't you the one having the party here? That's why you should stay here. I'll just go home alone." I said to him but it is as if he didn't hear it because he didn't even pay attention to me. He continued walking out the party.

He dialed something on his phone then held my hand. Then he pulled me out of his house and I held onto his arms tightly. I cannot really say that I enjoyed this night... because if I did, I should be happy right now but I am not. He opened the door for me and then turned around to get into the driver's seat. I also got inside his car before closing the door.

I took one last look at his house and the party that is still happening right now. I really can't understand him. I told him that I can go home by myself and he doesn't need to drive me home, but he didn't listen.

I took a deep breath as I took my eyes off to his house.

"You're silent," I looked at him with all my eyes focused straight ahead of him.

"I'm really like this. I'm not really fond of talking with other people."

"Yeah? Then are you just faking your smiles before?" I got guilty because of his question.

This is the reason why I'm irratated at myself earlier... because I'm not really like that but because... just because of their hands tied... I've already acted like that?

I looked out the window to avoid his gaze before taking a deep breath.

"Just because I don't like to talk doesn't mean I don't like to smile." I gave him a simple answer.

I didn't hear anything more from him until we got to where I live. I didn't wait for him to open my door, I opened it by myself.

I looked at him and smiled a little. "Alright, I'm going out already. Be careful, Jake." I whispered before I turned my back on him.

I was holding the door to our gate when he suddenly grabbed my arm. "Ash,"

I looked at him then saw a slight confusion on his face.

"I just want to say sorry about what happened in my car. I didn't mean to offend you."

I couldn't help but be surprised to his apology. I mean it's no big deal. I know that the kiss is a part of my job.

"It's okay. I wasn't offended." I sincerely promise him.

He scratched his hair and pulled back slightly as if giving me space. "I'll wait 'til I see you inside your house." he gave me a small smile that emphasizes his red lips more.

"Thank you for tonight, Jake... really." I gave him another smile before going inside.

I peeked at him through the window and I saw that he is still standing there in his place. A few more minutes passed before he left.

Tonight is the start of my job. As his whore and his escort, whatever you call it. I went to the bathroom where I used to clean up. I just did my nightly routine before I walked onto my bed.
