Chapter 1

Braun came home bruised and drunk, but he didn’t come home alone, he brought home a slut who was so drunk, she could barely stand.

“Betty!” he yelled, his hand clutching the slut by the waist and banged rudely at the door of our apartment.

His loud voice jerked me up to my feet, and made me approach the poor door he had banged on.

I threw the door open, only to witness the horrible sight of my man, clutching a night club slut by the waist, and yelling out my name.

I was watching my favourite N*****x series, when I heard the bang, so, I was still holding the TV remote I used in tuning into N*****x.

The remote dropped from my hand and shattered as soon as I met him standing before the door with his night club slut.

Braun had been cheating from the day we made vows in the court, he had done things I knew were horrible, he even cheated with my friend on our wedding night, but he had never brought home a slut.

“Braun?” I said, my hands turning cold and shivering. I knew I couldn't fight him, but I thought I had to say something. “Who is she!?” I shouted.

“Out of the way.” He surged forward, pushing me out of his way with just a swing of his arms.

He was tall and muscular, while I was petite, pale, too weak to stand his strong arms brushing me out of the way as though I was a piece of dried trash.

I was tossed to the wall by the sudden push which got me off guard.

“Braun!” I cried out loud. He was rude, but he had never been this rude, though I had been enduring the abuse he’d meted out on me from our first night, I could not bear it this time.

I ran after him, hoping to take a grip of the slut’s hand, and have her tossed out of our apartment, but Braun brushed me aside the second time, making me land this time on the couch, injuring my left arm at the impact of the fall.

“Braun!” I screamed painfully. I had landed on the thickest part of the couch, and I was scared I might have fractured my left arm.

He stopped and let the slut slump on the floor. She was so drunk that she could not even feel her legs.

He turned to me, and my lips went mute. His eyes were red, as red as blood, and his face was mean, the monster in him had been woken by my voice. I crawled back, hoping to flee from him, but he approached me as I was trapped between him and the wall behind me.

He lowered his face on mine. His breath was thick with the smell of alcohol, and his face was taunting.

He had never been this savage, though he had been toxic from the first day.

But I kept mute about the whole situation, hoping that he would change, but to no avail.

I leaned to the wall and shut my eyes tight, waiting for the twerk of his broad palms on my face, like he always did whenever he was mad at me.

“What on earth is wrong with you little ass!” his voice landed hot on my face, filling my nose with the thick smell of alcohol.

I couldn’t say a word, I was helpless in his glare, there was no way back, and no possible means to fight back.

I wished I could fight back. I wished I could escape, but wishes don’t come true when we wish most. I felt his rough hand on my cheek as he jerked up my face so that I could look helplessly at his face.

“I own you. I own this apartment. You dare not question me!” he brushed my face aside, and off he went.

I turned away from the wall, my neck was aching, but I managed to move it so I could see him, but I met a horrible sight.

Braun was stripping the night club slut on the floor where she lay drunk and hopeless.

He loosened his belt, and lowered his body on her naked body, I shot my eyes. I could not bear seeing such a horrible sight of my husband, making love to another woman in front of me.

…………………………

We have barely been married for a year now,but bruises of different types are seen in my body.

I stood before the mirror in my room, examining my left arm which Braun injured last night. It was red and swollen, and it gave me no other feeling but pain and hate, but of everything that taunted me that night, his face was worse.

Our doorbell blared, and I made for the door.

“Who’s there?” I posed, hoping as much as I could that it was not Braun, because I feared being plunged into a second round of last night’s abuse.

“It’s me, Paul.” The voice was loud and clear.

I smiled when I heard the name Paul.

“Good morning, Paul.” I said as I opened the door to usher him into the apartment.

Paul was my lawyer, and I had called him last night in tears, and asked him to prepare a divorce paper, because I could no longer bear Braun’s daily abuse.

“Good morning, ma’am.” Paul said. He was clad in a suit, and he had his suitcase with him.

I led him into the living room and he sat on the couch.

“Are the papers ready?” I posed. I was eager to sign the papers and leave Braun for good.

“Yes, ma’am.” He said and gently opened his suitcase, then he chose a divorce paper from the files in the case.

“Please sign this.” He handed the paper and a pen to me.

I examined the paper before I placed it on the table at the centre of the room to sign it. I smiled at the typed words on the paper, it was my freedom from a toxic marriage.

I bent to sign the papers, but just then, someone pushed open the door and barged in. It was Braun!

………………………………

But without wasting much time, I signed the Divorce papers before Braun came close to the Table where I was.

I handed the Signed Divorce papers to him, with his mouth wide open because I took him unaware. He couldn't believe his eyes.

My Bag was parked overnight because I wanted to end the toxic marriage.

Betty! Betty!! Braun Screamed, What's the meaning of this? Pointing the papers he was holding.

Braun!! Our Divorce papers., Am done with this Hell not Marriage. Immediately I left with my Bags along with Paul into a tiny air hoping never to see him or do anything with him.
